Author's Note: The scene takes place in the hospital room after he and Ed are brought back from the big revelation in episode 22. There are spoilers, but nothing major. Just reflections of Al. *disclaimer* Also, I do not own Full Metal Alchemist and I am not gaining a profit from writing this fic. The quotes in italics are taken from Episode 20 and Episode 22.

?What if your personality and your memories were implanted in you to make it convenient for your brother??

Had I been able to say that my blood ran cold at that statement I would have. However, I have no blood to run cold, nor do I even have veins for the blood to run through. I have no flesh to scar and no tears to cry. And now.. And now, I?m beginning to think I have no memories as well.

?That can?t be true! I?m a human named Alphonse Elric!?

He laughed when I said it. I couldn?t understand then what was so funny. I wasn?t the only one that thought I was human?Edward thought so too. But, looking down at my hands, my cold metal body, even the blood seal inside of me, I can hardly say I blame him.

To a passerby, I appear to be nothing more than walking, talking armor. A hulking hunk of metal traveling with a human I call my ?brother,? a prodigy alchemist dubbed Full Metal. Edward Elric.

How many times have I heard of how great he is? How many times have people whispered about his accomplishments, of becoming a dog of the military, a State Alchemist, at the mere age of 12? How many people have heard of him and his abilities?

?And how can you prove that when the soul is an uncertain thing that can be unseen by the eyes? Your brother and everyone else? They might be tricking you.?

?That.. that can?t be.?

How am I to know he didn?t do just what the Chopper said he did? How am I to know that he didn?t implant these memories, all that I know of the human Alphonse Elric, into me? How am I to know that Alphonse Elric even existed?

He brought up a good point, and that is what scares me. My soul...

A soul is intangible. One cannot prove that they have a soul.. How do I know that I have one? By the blood seal? The Homonculi have seals too.. What if this one is just like it?

?These people are Homonculi, perfect artificial humans.?

?Brother? and everyone else.. It could all be a farce. Why am I here? Am I just an experiment? Am I just another project, another accomplishment that my ?brother? can brag about? Am I just another success that my ?brother? decided to keep around? He is a prodigy, a genius alchemist like no one has ever seen before. He tried to bring back ?our? mother.. Why not make an artificial person too? Was I made to rectify the mistake of messing with human transmutation?

No. I?m human. I?m Alphonse Elric. I?m Alphonse Elric. I am Alphonse Elric. I am. I have a past. I have memories. I have a story behind me and ahead of me. I.. I am Alphonse Elric.

Thank you both for the reviews. Epyon, I'm hoping it's out by the time you read this reply but it most likely isn't because, and I quote, "[I'm] just lazy" xD. Cali I'm happy you thought he was IC. ^_^ I had to watch this episode a few times to get both the quotes and the feeling and I'm glad it paid off ^_^.
