The was a chill in the air as he sat near the fire place. The wood crackled as

flames danced across it and illuminated the night. With her head across his

shoulder, Heero was feeling very content.

When the weight lifted from his shoulder he was suddenly less content, this was

surely an ominous sign. "What did you do?"

Heero was puzzled, uncertain of how one responds to a question about doing things

when he quite literally had not done anything. "Nothing?"  Husbanding 101 had

already taught him this was the wrong answer, the trouble is no one ever taught him

the right answer. Sadly there was no instruction manual. Why couldn't more things

be simple, like building a Gundam?

"You smirked."

Smirked? His offense was a synonym for smiling? How does that even- "Ok?"

"You only smirk when you've done something. The last smirk left my car in pieces,

another smirk had my kitchen looking like a war zone, and another time meant mud

all over my carpets... Now: what, did, you, do?"

"I, honestly didn't?"

Her eyes narrowed and she leaned in close as if she would certainly see through his

deceptiveness. "Maybe you need to spend the night on the couch to learn a lesson."

She said while poking his chest, perhaps a few extra times although she would admit

to know such thing."

"I would rather not, it's sort of itchy on my back."

"You could sleep with a shirt on."

"No?"

Relena sighed, "okay you win this round, but I *will* found out the reason for that

smirk!" with that she resettled her head against his shoulders and turned her

attention back to the crackling fire and found herself thinking of how nice smores

would be this evening.

Heero was tentative at first, wondering how things always seemed to be on a roller

coaster. On the other hand he watched her smile reform as she relaxed again and

soon he felt a smile tug at his own face once again. In the end, there was a lot to

be happy about including just watching her smile.
