1+R, PG. Set during the series between 46 and 47. It was a request for a fic based on a cannon scene.

Set between the events of episodes 46 and 47.
She looked upon him as he sat with his back leaned against one of the storage crates. With his eyes closed he might fool some in to thinking he was asleep, but by now she knew him well enough to realize he was probably more alert then ever.
"Heero, were you tempted?"
Her companion said nothing..
"Even though my brother is wrong, the white fang IS fighting for the colonies, were you tempted when he asked you to take leadership of it?"
"Not really, the white fang doesn't represent the colonies. It only stands for the segment that thinks earth has to be military crushed in order for the colonies to live in peace."
"Is that really what my brother thinks?"
"No, his motivations are different, otherwise I'd have to step in."
"I'm sorry if my questions are bothering you, but I'm afraid I just don't understand."
"I know, that's why you are not a military leader. For now, just be content that you are doing the right thing. When the dust settles from this war, you are going to be what's needed, not me."
"Is that what your words meant earlier?" Those words had been echoing in her mind since he said them. Don't make me repeat myself, I'm nothing compared to you. She couldn't believe he would say that, Heero had been the one fighting for innocent people through the whole war, her ability to influence anything was gone and even when she had it, it all amounted to nothing in the end.
"Something like that." Was all he said as he continued to sit with his eyes shut. Meanwhile he was planning the next moves in his mind, if he was right Peacemillion should be coming, which would give him access to wing zero again...
"I think you are wrong, one of histories bloodiest and pointless battles is about to be fought, and I can't do anything. At least you have the strength to do something, I'm just forced to stand by and watch it."
"I won't be fighting this battle, for the moment, I have something more important to do."
"Something more important?" He never responded to that question. For a few moments she stood there wondering what he could mean. After all, for the moment he wasn't doing anything but staying with her.
The alarm rang out on Libra alerting all crew to go to battle stations, and she heard crew members passing nearby asking if the systems had been checked.
That couldn't be what he meant, could it?
