I have never read a story with this setting before, it's amzing. I can really see Heero as the detective, and Dorothy's role is priceless. "Sand Rock" hotel nice touch.
Also the promise to protect her, that was great. I really can't wait for the next chapter, if you already have it please post it soon.

Still the same lovely 'i will protect you' but spiced up!
I loved Dorothy's character, 'lioness' was just the word to describe her!
I'm glad she's married to Winner! I love that pairing.
I could just picture Duo, he's so cute!!!
I loved how everyone's so IC.

I've actually written a couple of stories in this setting with Heero as a detective. One is a longer, chaptered story that is sitting in suspended animation, one is a shorter, less plot-driven story that I started posting here, but forgot I didn't finish posting it (until now), and then this one - which is somewhere in the middle. And it's actually set a little later being in the 50s in stead of the 40s.

But, it is finished. I do have more chapters to post. There are 10 in all. I need to spend a little more time going over chapter 2, but it should be up in the next week or so.

You know. It means a lot to me to hear you say that. I've spent a huge amount of time on this story in the last two months and struggled to finish it and edit it in a set amount of time. Most of it being done in a quasi-vacuum (Morri's a great cheerleader, though). And you just get to the point where you're like - I dunno. This may completely suck. And it probably does. But you just keep going anyway.

So, it's just really nice to hear you say that you thought it was good. Thank you.

Honestly, I looked back on the entire thing and there are several elements of the 1xR relationship that I think snuck in there. ^___^

I think Quatre's the only one who could really love her, to be honest. And she has a bit of an interesting past in this one.

You know, someone else said that their favorite scene was the one with Duo. Which surprises me a bit because although I love to see the two of them spar and irritate one another, I dunno. And I was a little worried about making him seem so much younger than Heero - although some of it is just Heero's perspective. So, I am glad that you like him like that.

ANYWAY.

This story seems familiar to me, maybe because the plot smells a lot like Dangerous Games? But I don't care, that was the best ficcy ever, and this one is so awesome--my judgment after the first chapter alone! Sorry I'm a little lost for words, so I can't think of any favorite/special part that jumped out at me, but the story is very intense--I can FEEL the danger, and identify with every environment and scene and emotion and flashback. That is so cool how your writing just pulls us right into this world. And I don't ever wanna come out. *snuggles in*

It took me a while to figure out what you meant by this seemed similar or so much like DG. But, the mafia and Relena's father, I can see a couple of resemblances, I suppose. Didn't occur to me, to be honest.

It's kind of the time of year to go snuggling...anywhere but home. Geez, it's cold! But thank you, I'm really glad you liked it. The setting is a little...different, so I always worry.

And I dunno what it is about Duo. Always stealing the show, that guy...
