?Master Quatre??
The young man shifted slightly in his sleep. The maid, only ten years of age, giggled cheerfully and poked Quatre?s arm. ?Master Quatre!?
Quatre, startled by the girl, bolted quickly from his sleep and looked around his room before settling his gaze at the young child. He managed a smile even from his sleepy state.
?Hello, little Darla,? he greeted her. The little girl giggled again. ?What is the matter??
Darla handed him his schedule. ?Master, I believe you?re supposed to meet with some of your friends. You told me to wake you up at eight in the morning. Master, it?s already past that time.?
Quatre?s sleepy face turned into that of frustration; he looked at Darla, then at his schedule, then back to the girl, who was in turn, smiling at him.
?I?m gonna be late!?

Quatre managed to walk through the crowded plaza with a cup of coffee in one hand, while the other was constantly trying to fix his uncombed hair. Suddenly, he bumped into someone and saw a flash of gold, and he knew right away who it was.
?Relena?? The woman turned her neck sideways, and Quatre was greeted with the sight of her smiling face. Her shoulder length, golden locks reflected the sunlight, and Quatre thought that she glowed.
?Quatre! Oh, I?m so sorry. I?m running late to our meeting!? said Relena. Quatre chuckled and patted her back as she gave him an embrace. Together, they walked towards the Colony Caf?, where they were supposed to meet the rest.
The caf? was on elevated ground, just in between a small bookstore and a spacious deck, which was overlooking the harbor. Boats of different sizes were docked near each other, making it look like white clouds on shore. People were bustling in and out of the stores; fishermen and sailors can be seen attending to the boats; and a pack of small children entered the town?s only schoolroom.
Opening the door and ushering Relena inside, Quatre almost lost his balance when a body tackled him, nearly causing him to fall over. ?Ow?? he said faintly. He searched for a chair to sit down while constantly rubbing his aching chest. He inhaled a familiar cinnamon scent close to him.
?Oh my gosh! I?m so, so, sorry, Quatre!? Hilde pouted cutely and folded her hands while kneeling in front of Quatre, who smiled to reassure that he was all right. Hilde sighed with relief and led him to their table. As soon as he approached the group, Quatre was instantly welcomed with hugs, greetings, and a pat on the back.
He noticed Hilde walk around the table and sat down next to a boy with braided hair, his violet eyes sparkling with mischief. Quatre always thought Duo he has good antics; always finding a way to get himself out of troubles. Mischief boy always thought that he was the ?God of Death?, but for Quatre? he was the God of Mischief himself.
Quatre yawned; he was still feeling drowsy. He propped an elbow on the table and rested his chin on his palm, cheerfully observing his group of friends. Relena was sitting next to Dorothy, whom the group called ?diva?. It was the truth; Dorothy has been a famous singer in their big town. She was a constant traveler because of all her shows and concerts, so she was mostly the one missing from the group from time to time. Relena, meanwhile, was an intern nurse at the town?s health center (and also a part time author). She was the youngest of the group, being only twenty-one, but Quatre knows she has a matured mind.
Looking to his left, he noticed Hilde, whose job was a store clerk, pinch her boyfriend, Duo (who works in a fast food place), on his arm, who was attempting to steal some fries from the plate close to his. Wondering who it belongs to, Quatre fixed his gaze to the brown haired man sitting with his back on Duo. Quatre smiled; it was his close friend, Trowa Barton, a cop, in a conversation with none other than his work partner, Heero Yuy. The two was probably the best of friends in their group, even though, to everyone?s knowledge, both were courting the same girl.
He felt a hand tap him on the shoulder. Turning around, he saw Relena looking at him worriedly. ?Are you all right? You seem unwell,? she said. She was very observant, considering her job. Quatre gave her a thumbs-up.
?I?m just tired, that?s all. I didn?t get enough sleep yesterday,? Quatre answered tiredly. Relena examined his face, just like what a nurse would do, and gave him a small smile.
?Feel better.?

Half an hour later, the group of friends has ordered their breakfast and was chatting heartily with each other. Quatre, seated between Dorothy and Relena, was laughing enthusiastically at Duo?s constant teasing towards Heero, who in turn, gave rude remarks.
Relena, being the peace maker of the group, waved her hand. ?Heero, you?re being to mean.?
?Ain?t that the truth!? Duo exclaimed. Heero glared while the rest laughed. Suddenly, Heero turned his attention outside, where a crowd of people had gathered and pointing their fingers towards the harbor. Heero, nodding to Trowa, walked together where the crowd was. Trowa approached an old woman.
?Ma?am, what is the matter?? Trowa asked. The woman sighed, and stared at him with confused eyes.
She cleared her throat before answering. ?I believe,? she paused and cleared her throat again, ?that there?s a ship that just docked a few minutes ago??
?But what is the commotion all about?? It wasn?t rare for their town to be visited by other ships from different places. The old lady adjusted her spectacles and looked at the harbor.
?I?m sorry, good sir, but I can?t answer your question? because I myself am confused.? Trowa nodded his thanks, and searched the crowd for Heero. He found him talking to a waiter, and, after gesturing for him that he was done, both walked back to their group. They found them already standing up, eager to hear the news.
Quatre was first to ask. ?So, what?s wrong??
?A ship just docked a few minutes ago,? Trowa replied, grabbing his jacket from his chair. Dorothy frowned.
?But it?s not unusual for a ship to come to our harbor.?
Heero, who tore his gaze away outside, spoke. ?Let?s go check it out.?

Near the docks, a larger crowd of people were already gathered around the new arrived ship. They were talking in whispers, constantly pointing their fingers at the ship. It was a schooner, a type of ship that is used to carry cargo to inlands and coastal runs. The sails were dark of color, giving a sort of eerie atmosphere to the townspeople.
The group of friends stared in awe and confusion at the ship. Hilde tiptoed to get a better look, her navy eyes searching through the many heads in front of her. She was curious, to say the least.
?I wonder who owns this ship?? Relena whispered to Dorothy. Dorothy shrugged.
?Must be rich to have all those cargo,? Duo intervened between them, making Dorothy glare. ?What? I?m just saying!?
The gasps and oh?s of the crowd caught their attention. Relena, who was near the front, studied a figure coming out of the ship. The figure was of tall stature; it walked straight, without looking at the crowd at either side of him, never blinking or staggering. Relena knew it was a man after seeing his face, though it was hard for her to tell because of the thick, black hood over his head.. His eyes were sharp; his black hair and nails were grown, and his skin was a pale color. The most unusual about him were his clothes; they were all black.
The man was walking towards a car; Relena looked at him more closely. Suddenly, the man stared at her straight in the eye, and she saw the black depths turn to red. His mouth began to open. Relena?s eyes widen as she felt a cold shiver down her spine. The man held his gaze, and Relena felt her knees give in.
Heero noticed Relena?s legs buckle and instinctively caught her before she hit the floor. Her breathing was slow and her eyes were closed; Heero shook her gently and saw that Quatre and Trowa was behind him, looking confused. The blonde one noticed the flash of worry cross Heero?s face.
?She just fainted,? Heero replied to their questioning looks. Trowa knelt down beside Heero and examined her.
?What the - ? What happened?? Dorothy was instantly beside Relena, who was stirring from her unconsciousness. Quatre replied the same answer as Heero?s. Dorothy raised an eyebrow and stroked her friend?s hair.
Relena opened her eyes completely. ?What happened?? She blinked a few times, registering in her mind that she was currently on Heero?s lap. The information made her cheeks turn a shade of pink.
?You fainted,? Trowa answered. Relena, with the help of Heero and Dorothy, stood up. She glanced around, seeing that the man was gone and that most of the townspeople were already going back to their previous tasks.
?What happened, Relena?? Dorothy asked, her voice tinted with concern. Relena looked at her, confused.
?I don?t know.?
o o o
?Master Quatre?? Darla poked playfully at Quatre?s face. Quatre opened one eye and smiled.
?What is it??
?You received a letter, sir,? she replied, handing him an envelope, with his name inscribed in a cursive writing. He went into a sitting position and as he opened the letter, noticed a black bat at the left corner of the page, which Quatre assumed as the seal. On it, with the same cursive writing, said:
Greetings, friend.
You are cordially invited to my welcoming feast in your town of Sanc. It will be at the mansion behind the schoolroom, on a Saturday, two days from now, at 9:00 pm.
