[Author's Note] Only rated R for brief (horrible) limey description.

It was hard to look at him. Relena ran her eyes up and down Heero's
prone figure and bite her lip in anxiety. His once tan skin had
become pale and hard to look at. It was difficult to see past the
tubes and needles stuck into him keeping him alive when once upon a
time he needed nothing but his endurance and his determination.

Why was it that all good things must be overshadowed by the bad?

Relena placed her hand under his and laid her head against the
pillow beside his head. 'Please come back Heero. You have a
family now?'

Her eyes traced his profile?bandages were wrapped around his
forehead while a nasty bruise was turning a sickening yellow around
his eye. A deep cut was stitched on his cheek where, if he ever
woke up, there would forever be a scar. Dried blood was encrusted
onto his lips, parted just so as he breathed in and out with the
help of an oxygen mask. Underneath the flimsy hospital gown he
wore, Heero was practically a mummy?only his right arm, left hand
and legs were undamaged by the accident.

Relena sat up to talk to him. "I know you can hear me, Heero, so
why don't you open your eyes? I always expect you to be gone when I
wake up," a faint smile appeared on Relena's lips. "You've been in
here for three days already, afterall."

There was no movement except for the rise and fall of Heero's
chest. Relena closed her eyes, laid her head down once again, and
squeezed his hand as she let her thoughts take her back to a night
less than a month ago.

That night she had been lying on her side, but instead of looking at
an incapacitated ex-Gundam pilot, she was staring out her balcony
window and the barren trees of wintertime. It was her favorite
season because the world seemed most at peace during the Christmas
and New Year's holidays. Just as the twinkle of the stars seemed to
lull her to sleep, though, a figure prowled onto the balcony and
opened the doors as if he knew the system inside and out.

"Who are you!" she had exclaimed in a daze.

"Relena? calm down," a gruff voice answered her. The speed of her
heart slowed down tenfold when the sound of his voice reached her
ears.

"Heero? What are you doing here?" By now she had a light on and had
swung her legs over the side of her bed to make room for him to
sit. He took her invitation but said nothing. Moments passed and
eventually Relena took this as a cue for her to speak. "Are you
leaving again Heero?"

She took his continued silence as an affirmation. "You came to say
goodbye?" She was shocked. He never used to, though she was never
worried. He had always come back. There was never any reason to
let her know.

"Why?" Tears welled up in her eyes, but she had blinked them back.

"I need to know something."

"What?"

He turned to her, touched her cheek, smiled?not a full-blown ear-to-
ear smile, but a smile none-the-less?and then he kissed her. When
the initial shock wore off, Relena had a mind to kiss him back with
more passion than he had started with. The parting of their lips
didn't mean for them to cut off their physical contact with each
other. Heero continued to kiss a fervent path down her neck while
Relena grabbed a fistful of his hair and pushed him closer to her,
encouraging his southward movement to her breasts. His nimble
fingers made quick work of his shirt while she removed her night-
slip from her flushed body. Dressed only in her underwear, Relena
grew self conscious of herself, but Heero's focused gaze gave her a
boost of confidence.

"We can stop this if you don't want it to get too far?" Heero
murmured into her ear, trying hard not to touch her lest he
influence her into something she didn't want yet.

"No," Relena groaned, crawling onto his lap. There was a reason he
wanted to say goodbye to her.

"But we don't have protection," Heero sucked in a sharp breath as
she eased his back down onto the bed and her body moved against his.

Relena kissed him softly, assuring him that she didn't care about
protection. If he had to leave and never return, she wanted to keep
a part of him with her always.

A loud, long beeping woke Relena up to tear-soaked sheets. "Oh no,"
she gasped. A young doctor rushed into the room almost as soon as
she hit the call button. The doctor put two fingers to Heero's neck
and flinched.

End.

[AN] Well it was a brief limey-scene. I didn't want to horrify you
all with my terrible lemon skills so this is what you get. What do
I have to say for myself? Uh? at least it's on time?
