Title: A Canvas of Stars
Series: Gundam Wing AC
Day/Theme: November 08 / Lost to the crush of anonymity
Character/Pairing: Heero / Relena
Rating: PG
Notes: I don't own Gundam Wing or any of the characters. All standard disclaimers apply...please, for the love of God, don't sue me, I'm not making any money out of anything and I desperately want to live. ^^;; Inspired by the fic "Referring To Stars" by Tin Mandigma. Tin, I hope you don't mind. ^^;; It was a very beautiful story.

It was the usual story of boy meets girl. The Gundams, the guns and the war were just added bonuses.
He did not know what love really was. He supposed the affinity he had to his Gundam was something like love in a weird sort of sense. But while he knew that love meant having a certain connection with something, he was trained in the art of war and thus, could not grasp something as gentle as love in stark contrast to the rigid and violent realities of hatred that he was so often exposed to.
She was a politician. It was not only her destiny, but in her blood. She was trained to be an icon for the people and of the people. Her way of understanding love was that it involved tireless concern and selfless giving. In this way, she became a steadfast pillar of strength for millions of people. And though there were times that she felt her sacrifices were unappreciated, her heart often told her otherwise.

The year that they both came to be of proper age was one of the most important ones in their lives. It marked the real end of an era torn by war and the beginning of hope.
She was, as always, the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Dressed in a gown of deep blue that resembled the sky and with a crown of diamonds on her head, she held his breath from the moment she came into the ballroom. She glided across the marble floor like she was floating on clouds, the smaller diamonds embedded in her skirts glittering in the bright lights, making her gown look like a canvas of stars.
She held everyone's attention when she smiled, her blue-green eyes as deep as the ocean on a clear day. Her voice was rich and velvety-smooth when she spoke, thrilling every nerve in his body. People surrounded her, adored her, placed her on a pedestal.
And he could never get near enough to pay her homage.
In the crowds, he was a lost face, nameless and alone.
But whispering her name comforted him. It always did.
And so he whispered it one more time before he disappeared into the darkness. He whispered it to give him strength to fight. He whispered it to give him strength to hope.
