I got an approximate release date for book 8 of Full Metal Panic!
I had to get it frm Barnes and Noble BUT it was reassuring to see that it had at least been scheduled for a release.
CURSE ADV'S WEBSITE AND THEIR LACK OF A RELEASE DATE SCHEDULE!
Volume 8 is due for July 28th *approximately*
FMP! Overload! 1 (I have no idea what it's content will be , but it is scheduled) for around June 28
FMP! Overload! 2 due around August 28
Now if only ADV will actually publish them near those dates instead of taking 9 freaking months!
*calm*
*think zen like thoughts*
mmmmm
opening sequence of Fumoffu

Sousuke in the snow

ok i'm better now.

Oh, leave the fandom alone for maybe a year and a half and be gobsmacked by the new things since. Anyone want to briefly tell me what Overload! is about?

Well I found out it is a manga and that it's available for preorder at animecastle.com.
The synopsis there reads:
"OVER-THE-TOP COMEDY. Sosuke has finally lost his mind, and his memory! Rehashing his previous exploits will keep Kaname busy, but it doesn't take long for this soldier to bounce back with a bang-literally! He's locked, loaded and back to his old self by first period in the whackiest FULL METAL PANIC you've ever read!"
The illustration on the front cover is different, not sure what the inside of the manga looks like, but it's by Tomohiro Nagai, not Shouji Gatou/Retsu Tateo and the first one is 192 pages, which is longer than the original mangas out now.
I am trying to find out more about it's content. I'll let you know if I do

Sounds a lot like fumoffu, although I'm curious as to what the holy disco jesus made Sousuke lose his mind? Too much Lambda drive? But it's FMP - I'm pretty sure I'll love it.
I just got a job too, so I'll have the necessary coin to spend on manga. Oh, so many good things have happened lately I'm starting to watch out for the fall.
Food calls.

I was wondering my self about Overload.
I've been getting Newtype as of late and whenever they mention FMP they always refer to the author as a man....
Refresh me, doesn't the author refer to them self as a woman-I thought she looked like a woman in the pictures from that Korean (?) convention in like volume 4 or 5... I thought I'd heard of 2 different series going on, and perhaps the rumors I heard of were from this series and not the Owaru (and etc) series. And coincidentally perhaps that was why Newtype seems semi persistant in referring to the author as a man (presuming i'm not insane)...
I'm rambling, please forgive me if I make absolutely no sense.
(but I am doing my happy dance- thanks to pre ordering through B&N *dancedancedance*)

The only thing I can find in the original manga refers to the illustrator as a woman [Tateo] but as for Gatou... I'm not completely sure. I'll try'n find out.
There are two different manga's out, but the second one is not yet out in English that I can find *sniffles*
I have ordered Overload on Ebay and have found more information. It is targeted toward younger people, the illustrations are going to be much much different and it supposedly has the origins of the Fumoffu characters [lmao, right on the mark _sigil

]. I'd like to see the origins of Hayashimizu ^_^
Welp, no going back now, I already ordered so... I'll let you know what it gets here ^____^

BTW Gin, I found out.
Gatou - author - is a guy.
Tateo - illustrator - is a woman according to the manga.
Source: FMP! The Anime Mission
has a pic of Gatou, but none of Tateo.

You've been far more industrial than I.

Alrighty, it arrived in the mail and I *gasp* got to read it [things have been quite busy.. gomen]
... Hayashimizu never even showed up *headdesk*
Ga haha, such is my luck. It is very much like Fumoffu, and while the cover looks totally blown out of proportion, the drawings inside are decent. As mentioned earlier in the thread it is by a different artist.
The stories are a little more crazy than Fumoffu.. not nearly as much skin shown off

but what I do like about it is it shows Chidori's thoughts as she's beating the crap outta Sousuke.
Hm, I know that that is part of the show, and part of what makes it funny; but this manga seems to be written solely on exploiting that aspect of the show. Seems every other page has some huge explosion or Chidori going ape. I duno how to feel about that :-? Guess the next few manga's will tell.
Some of the situations are repeat situations from the series, but left out of the original mangas, so you kind of know what is going to happen. But it does explain the origin of some pictures you see on the internet that don't have a basis from any of the animes/mangas out now.. so that is a plus.
