Chapter Nineteen
"My lab is in the L3 colony so we need to find away to get there and fast," Jasin stated.
"That shouldn't be too much of a problem. My sister always has a private shuttle on standby in case she is called away to the colonies on business." Zechs stated this blandly as he thought about what might be happening to his younger sister at this moment.
?Good. Get all the pilots together and have them meet us at the spaceport. I assume that they are all aware of the situation??
Zechs, Heero, and Noin all nodded.
?Zechs how are we going to get the gundams loaded without them being noticed?? Noin asked sounding a little worried.
?I don?t know. There might be a way to get a shuttle down to the hanger and load them that way. Otherwise we may just have to expose ourselves and the fact that the Foreign Minister has been kidnaped.?
?I don?t think that would be such a good idea just yet.? Heero turned to look out the window as he spoke. ?The people would see Relena?s kidnaping as a sign that the peace we had is falling apart. It would be best to keep the public uniformed until absolutely necessary.? Heero paused and turned back to the group before continuing. ?But on the other hand if we expose the fact that she has indeed been kidnaped and exposed New Oz as rebels who want to destroy our peace we may gain the upper hand and should have the support of the people behind us.? Heero stopped but looked as though he still had more to say.
?What?s the catch,? asked Zechs sourly, seeming to already know what Heero was about to say.
?If we expose New Oz in that fashion it may put Relena in even more danger than she already is.?
The group fell silent at these words. They were trying to save Relena, and the rest of the world for that matter, not endanger her life more. The ensuing silence lingered until finally Zechs spoke up.
?We will decide later on what to do about exposing New Oz. As for now we have to get the gundams loaded and get to L3. Noin contact Lady Une and have her relay a message to Quatre and Trowa. Tell her to have them meet us at L3 as soon as they can. Also have that same message relayed to WuFei. Duo will meet up with us once he has recovered from his injuries. Heero, you and Jasin will accompany me to the hanger and help in loading the gundams. I think I know of a way to get them out without giving away what we?re up to.?
As they made further arrangements for the trip to L3, Heero and Jasin discussed upgrading the gundams.
?If we divert the output to the main drive through a condenser then back to the main drive, while super cooling the whole system we can increase the vernia output by almost double.?
?I never thought of doing that,? Jasin responded in astonishment. ?That will help out greatly in addition to the changes I have already made to the suits I have waiting.?
?What changes are those?? Heero looked at the man in a studying gaze. He didn?t quite trust him yet but they needed his help.
?I?ve combined the gundanium alloy used to make the armor of your gundam suits with a combination of neo-titanium and man made substance called cuendillar making the armor almost impenetrable. Further more I have made a few changes to the Zero system.?
Heero?s eyes widened at this statement.
?You did what??
Jasin laughed at Heero?s amazement.
?I took the existing protocol and readjusted it. I added a few lines of code to make it obey the user better and to keep it from having the awful side affect of making the pilot lose focus and go insane. It will still show what paths you have and who your enemies are but it won?t drive you to madness like before. It also allows for more variables than the first system allowing the pilot to do more than previously. So all in all I would say the new suits will be vastly improved from before.?
Heero grunted before adding, ?You can say that again.?
The two men laughed as Zechs pulled into the spaceport.
?Ok we need to get the shuttle over to the Preventers building but not until I?ve been able to go in and open the access door to the hanger allowing the shuttle in. Once the door is open you need to get it inside quickly and shut the door again. Give me five minutes and then take off.?
Zechs got back in his car and drove off towards Preventers HQ. Meanwhile Heero and Jasin began to ready the shuttle for launch. When the five minutes had passed the launched and began to navigate the shuttle to its destination.
Just as Zechs had said he had opened the hanger access door which was located right in the middle of one of the building main parking lots.
?Ok we need to make this fast. Start the decent and once we?re inside I?ll take care of getting the door closed again.?
Jasin just looked at Heero like he was crazy but when he saw the look on his face quickly agreed.
As the shuttle landed and began screaming through the tunnel to the hanger, Heero opened a crew door on the side and looked out. Jasin applied the brakes as hard as he could, knowing he had an idea of what Heero was about to do. As the tunnel flew by Heero saw what he was looking for. He was speeding towards a panel on the wall that was used to control the doors to the hanger. As they were about to go by Heero grabbed one of the helmets on the shuttle and threw it out the door. It smashed off the switch and bounced widely behind the shuttle as the doors began to close above them. Heero closed the crew door and went and sat back down next to Jasin as the shuttle began to slow down.
?I thought for sure you were going to jump out,? Jasin said as Heero sat down.
?Hn. I might have before but I can?t be slowed down by injuries at this stage.?
Jasin nodded and steered the shuttle to a halt in front of the doors deep inside the hanger. Zechs was just coming off the elevator followed by Noin and Lady Une. As Heero and Jasin exited the shuttle and sickening thought entered Heero?s head.
?And so it begins again. The three beats of Peace, Revolution, and War will follow me till the day I die.?
