Time Elapsing Idea

Post by Lady Casper »

Working on an excellent idea, writing it with a lot of work put in. Words are flying out and it just keeps coming.

Until life catches up to you and you have to put aside your fic for the everyday hassle.

You come back to it in a week or so, maybe in more than two weeks.

Trying to continue your work you realize you can't remember where the fic was going. You had a good sense as to where it was going when you had started, it was progressing well until you had to leave it.

Now you can't remember what you were trying to get at. You didn't write an outline because you felt you would loose the point and the plot by trying to write the idea down.

Okay so that pretty much happens to me way to often...

Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

lol. This happens to me too. Although, it isn't necessarily not knowing where the story is going, but more or less it's losing the flow of the story for me.

A good way to keep track of where you're going with a story is to keep an outline. I like to roughly scribble some key words to remind myself of make a voice recording of myself summarizing whats going to happen (im just too lazy to write it out :-? )

I agree with teardropangel. That's the easiest way. XD

But what if you can't outline? Or is you just don't like outlines in general? I jot down ideas but I usually just lose the story idea... *frowns and goes off to threaten muse* :bounce: *_*

I don't like outlining much either, b/c I need a bit of mystery to keep myself interested. :-? (yep, I went through that whole character-profiling stuff :( :pale: )That's why I record myself on tape. You don't have to do a formal outline, just something that you are comfortable with and can refer to later on.

eto...ditto for aieki-chan xD~ haha, well what I would do is just keep a note of the story and if I suddenly go into a term of writer's block after thaa~t...then...eto...I would give up on the story lols ^^;; but for you, I think just keep a note of the "main idea". even if you write a new chapter and the situation is slightly different, as long as its focused on the plot then its okay.
