Here's my first fanfic of our favorite Gundam couple. Hope you enjoy it! Please review and tell me what you think of it.
It was Saturday and Relena Darlian, the Vice Foreign Minister was in another meeting with the delegates from the colonies of L4 and L5. Another brisk day illuminated with work and conferences, which Relena has grown accustomed to. "Thank you for your concern Mr. Sevren but we must look at the issue at hand. The only possible way to solve this is to direct peaceful negotiations with the neighboring colonies. Surely you agree with me," said Relena as she sat down to catch her breath. She didn't want to be here handling these small affairs but the indefinite word known as 'responsibility' carried a heavy burden on her shoulders. "Fine, we'll recess this issue and resume this meeting in two weeks' time," Mr. Sevren concluded reluctantly. Finally, it was over! Relena could return home and wait unwillingly for the next day to come, engulfed in the same routine.
"The car is ready for you Miss Relena," announced Pagan, the loyal butler of the family.
"Thank you Pagan, but I think I might walk home. I need to clear my head."
"But Miss Relena, by the look of this weather, it will be raining soon."
"It's alright, I wouldn't mind walking in the rain. Really! I'll meet you back at the estate."
"But Miss Relena, please be reasonable. What if something happens to you..."
It was too late. Relena was already walking down the hill. For some strange reason, she had the urge to escape from reality to have some peaceful time of her own. She needed to think somewhere. It has been 2 years since the encounter with Marimeya and she couldn't stop thinking about him.
"Heero," Relena whispered between her breathe.
All those memories locked safely in her mind, hounding her to act upon them. However, her fear and reluctance of displaying her true emotions have constantly kept her at bay. Oh, how she longed to admit to Heero her feelings.
She continued walking but shortly minutes later, the streets were soaked with the water drops falling from the sky above her. "Damn it Pagan. Why do you always have to be right?" The rain drizzled down her hair and consumed her from head to toe. Cold, she was so cold but it didn't matter. Nothing mattered anymore...
On the other side of the street, a man was walking directly into Relena's direction. He wore the regular green tank tops and black spandex. The rain too, was unkind to him. Since Duo was constantly pestering him at home, he decided to leave their apartment for a couple of hours.
"Who is that man walking towards me?" wondered Relena.
"Could it be? No I can't be. It must be the rain. I haven't seen Heero for so long. He couldn't possibly be here. Could he?"
Heero then looks up. "It's her."
They walk closer to each other. Slowly, the margin between them decreased and they were standing no more than a feet from each other.
"Heero..."
"Relena..."
Heero could see that Relena was cold. He never had the intention of helping her into a dry building because he was the perfect soldier. Relena is none of his concern. However, when he observed her beautiful face glistening in the rain, it changed his attitude toward her. He knew he had always cared deeply for her, although his actions prove otherwise.
"Relena, why are you out here?" He questioned her, looking every bit concerned about her welfare.
"I needed some space. I can't handle this job anymore. Everyone expects so much of me and I can't do it." She replied, staring at the pools of rain water on the ground; looking anywhere but his clear blue cerulian eyes.
Silence.
"Look Relena. I'll take you back home." Heero offered softly.
Suddenly, a wave of darkness overwhelmed Relena's vision. The street started fading out and all the buildings surrounding them seemed distorted. Relena felt very dizzy and the person standing in front of her became fuzzy. Everything turned black. She fainted.
"RELENA!!" Heero held her in his arms. The rain still poured and Heero desperately tried to wake the beauty leaning against his chest. He predicted that the stress was too much for her and she couldn't withstand the pressure. He held her close to him.
~HOURS LATER~
Relena was in her room. She regained consciousness and looked around the vicinity of her santuary. Heero was sitting beside her with a straight face.
"Heero, did you bring me back?" She whispered.
"Hm," was Heero's reply.
"Thank you Heero, for everything."
"You must be careful Relena. Your life is worth so much in this world." Heero then started to get up and leave but then...
"Wait Heero. I need to tell you something."
Heero stopped in his tracks and walked back to her bedside.
"Your life is just as important as mine. Never forget that," pleaded Relena. She held onto his arm and kissed his forehead.
Heero felt her soft lips on his skin and melted. Then, he leaned forward and kissed her on the lips. It was a passionate kiss and they both enjoyed the sensational moment that has been so long denied from both of them.
"Relena, I must go." He managed to say.
"Heero..."
He started to walk out and Relena watched him from her bed. "I'll never stop loving you, my dear Heero," whispered Relena. Frankly, Heero heard those words escape from her breath.
"And never forget this Relena, I'll always be here with you." He realized their love was eternal although they may never reveal their feelings to each other. They were too different and yet they were the same. "Someday Relena," Heero thought as he looked up through her window. "Someday."
