Duo past and present

Disclaimer, I do not own gundam wing, nor do I own ice cream. If I was given the choice to own either of them I would chose? um ice cream and than I?d buy gundam wing with the money. So enjoy the fic while I try to come up with some crazy scheme to own ice cream. Or gundam wing? Why are you still here? read the fic? bye.
Duo was sitting in the kitchen of his house, he and Hilde had been living together since the wars and today Duo was planning on doing something, something that his friends had said would change the rest of his life. Their dog Jude was due to have puppies any day now. Duo pet her wondering what they would look like, he thought of the day they got her
(Flash back)
Duo had just finished the adjustments to Deathscythe and was walking home. He passed a cake shop, and in the window was a birthday cake. ?Oh crap? he said while looking at it ?I completely forgot about Hilde?s birthday tomorrow.?
He franticly ran from store to store looking for the perfect gift.
He stopped in pet store and there was a sunny yellow lab. He pulled over a clerk ?how much for the dog!??
The clerk said ?well it?s on death row sooo? 75 bucks.?
Duo reached into his pocket to pull out a crumpled 50 ?how about 50? he said pleadingly ?please it?s my girlfriends birthday I need to get her the perfect gift.?
?I can?t stand in the way of love.? He said giving him the dog?s papers.
An hour later Duo was home and yelled ?hey Hilde I got your present here?
Hilde yelled back ?but my birthdays tomorrow.?
Then Duo yelled ?I couldn?t wrap it so come get?
Hilde then ran down the stairs with high hopes then tripped backwards in horror at what she saw. ?Duo? she said in a trembling voice ?how could you bring that in hear?
Duo then said ?what?s the matter? in a compassionate voice.
Hilde then said ?when I was a little girl I was attacked by a dog and nearly died. Since then I?ve been terrified of dogs.?
Duo then said ?the dog knows how you feel. You see it was on death row because no one would take it because it was so afraid of people?
?Yet I thought labs were the friendliest? Hilde said starting to come closer.
?Yeah but this one was nearly beaten to death as a puppy by an abusive owner. So why don?t you give each other a second chance, and if not I?ll find another home for her and you can send me into the dog house on demand?
Hilde now coming close enough for the dog to sniff her hand said in a shaky voice ?o-ok? the dog then slowly licked her hand once.
(End flash back)
Duo laughed quietly to himself about it now, because Hilde became more affectionate with the dog then he was. Just then Hilde walked in ?hey Duo? she said while sitting down.
Duo now more nervous then ever said ?um hi Hilde? um would you umm? he couldn?t say it now he had to make up some cover story ?like to get ice cream? he now felt ridicules.
Hilde said ?sure? with a smile on her face.
15 minutes later they got out of the car and ordered ice cream. ?Ah ice cream? Duo said in his mind ?I remember when I first had it.
(Flash back)
Duo and Sister Helen were getting groceries for the church (priests and nuns need to eat to) they were walking back when Sister Helen said ?Duo?
Duo having an instinctive response said ?I didn?t do it?
With that sister Helen said jokingly ?oh ok then I?ll give the Nobel peace prize to someone else? then the two of them laughed until she said ?anyway Duo you want ice cream?
Duo who never had it before only guessed what it was ?why do I need a frozen ointment?
Sister Helen gave a light chuckle at this and said ?no Duo, ice cream is a food?
?But didn?t we just get food from the grocery store?? Duo said securing his grip on the bag
Sister Helen then said ?no Duo, it?s a food you eat because of the taste?
Then the two of them went into the store it wasn?t crowded so Duo could look around with ease. ?Well which one do you want Duo? Sister Helen said while getting out a 5$ bill and asking for two small.
?How bout the one with all the colors? Duo said pointing to the bucket that said rainbow sherbet.
?That?ll be fine Duo.? Sister Helen said with a sweet smile on her face
The cashier then said bowl or cone.
?What?s the difference?? Duo said while looking at him.
The cashier looked at him with confusion.
Sister Helen then said ?this is his first time having ice cream?
?Oh I see? the cashier said understanding he was a war orphan. He then looked at Duo and said ?with a cone you can eat the part you hold, yet with a bowl you can get toppings.?
?I see? Duo said ?I?ll take a cone, since I don?t want to be wasteful?
Sister Helen smiled sweetly as they walked away with the cones. When they sat down Duo said ?soooo how you eat it?
Sister Helen looked a little embarrassed ?oh I forgot you lick it like this? she said and took a lick of the ice cream.
Duo did the same, then a little faster, and a little more until he was completely devouring it. He was licking the residue off from around his mouth.
?I guess you licked it? Sister Helen said still licking at hers at a slow pace compared to Duo.
Duo responded ?yeah but I have a really bad head ache or something now.?
Sister Helen then looked a little sad and said ?I?m sorry I should have warned you that you shouldn?t eat it that fast.?

Duo and Hilde were sitting at a bench in the park licking there ice cream.
?Duo,? Hilde said with concern ?is something wrong, you?ve barely touched you ice cream?
Duo responded ?I just have something on my mind?
?What?? Hilde asked sliding closer to him.
?Well you might want to stand up for this? Duo said his heart pounding.
Hilde did what he said and then again asked ?what is it?
Duo then said ?would you make me the happiest man in the world? he then got down on one knee and pulled out a little box opened it and said ?would you marry me.?
Hilde looked in shock, she was surprised that he?d do this today; she had been looking forward to this day ever since she was 5. She then smiled with a tear coming to her eyes and said ?yes Duo?
1 year later
It was their wedding day today; the priest had just said ?you may kiss the bride?. As he said that Duo and Hilde did a record time kiss. When they finally broke apart Hilde threw up her bouquet, and every one was clapping. Trowa who wasn?t paying attention to the bouquet accidentally caught it between claps. Every one laughed at the somewhat embarrassed expression on his face, he then decided to just toss it with Hilde?s twin sister catching it (note I made her up). Duo?s life was now perfect.
