The Assassin
Chapter 3
The JC.
It stands for the Justice Center. It?s also the HQ for a large task force commanded the by Queen herself. The task force consists of lawyers more than police forces. Their job was to negotiate payments for mob guys who were willing to testify in court. To betray the Family.
The Family.. always came first.
The Family was Roxanne?s family. It was more than an elite circle of a very select
number of people, these people were adopted by Roxanne herself. You might as well dug your grave before betraying the Family. Doing so meant that you would be hunted till the day you died.
One way or another.
Heero?s job was to assassinate Relena, then destroy the JC with an R.P.G. Once that was accomplished, Heero would escape. He?d return to Roxanne. His life would go on the same way it has for years.
Nothing would change.
Heero left the warehouse he got his weapons from. It was a simple plan. He?d strike tomorrow. Heero got to his small house where he?s always lived. He threw his coat aside and went to the kitchen. He opens the fridge and takes out some Chinese food. He sets it out and goes for a soda when he hears the door drift open. He puts the soda down and goes for the gun next to it. He closes the fridge door to see Amanda standing right in front of him. Amanda grinned and says, ?You let your guard down Heero. I could have knocked you out and killed you.? Heero raised the gun to her forehead and cocked it. Amanda smiles and says, ?Touch?.?
Heero: ?What do you want?? Amanda: ?Just wondering if you?re up to the challenge?? Heero: ?You came all the way here to ask me that?? Amanda: ?Concern Heero. There is such a thing.? Heero: ?I can take care of it.? Amanda slowly comes up close to Heero and seductively removes it from his hand. She puts it aside and wraps her arms around Heero.
The two are now in contact with each other and Amanda says, ?You know, I can help you relax for the big job ahead.? Heero: ?I?m already relaxed.? Amanda looked at him puzzled as her gave her the ?I?m not interested? look. Amanda stepped back, she looked at him saddened and asked, ?Is it Roxy? Are you two-? Heero: ?No.? Amanda: ?Someone else?? Heero: ?No. No offense.? Amanda: ?I see.?
Amanda ran out teary eyed. Heero walked to the door and watched her leave in a taxi. He closed the door and walked over to seek the comfort of his sofa. ?Damnit.? he mumbled. Heero knew she was attracted, but he wasn?t. He was meant for someone else, and he knew it.
He just didn?t know who it was.
Heero laid back on the sofa and fell asleep.
Dream?
Heero struggled to carry Roxanne into the ER. A couple of doctors saw them and carried her to the operating table. One of the doctors came back and asked: ?Hey kid, what happened to her?? Heero: ?Someone tried to rob her, she was shot trying to protect me.? Doctor: ?Are you her son?? Heero paused and thought for a moment. Doctor: ?Are you her son?? Heero looked up and said, ?Yes. Yes I am.? Doctor: ?Don?t worry about your mother, she?s going to be alright. Can you wait in the waiting room?? Heero nodded and walked off.
Heero came in and sat down in an isolated chair. Heero sighed and ran his hands through his hair. When he looked up, a little girl walked into the room. She wore a white dress.
She had blonde hair.
She came over and sat in the chair next to Heero. Heero: ?Hi.? From the moment she sat down, Heero forgot about everything. The mafia, Roxanne, they all seemed far away as soon as he saw her face. The girl smiled at him and said, ?Hi, my name?s Relena. What?s yours?? ?My name is Heero.? Relena: ?Heero, that?s a nice name.? Heero: ?Thank you.? Relena: ?Are you hurt?? Heero: ?No. Are you?? Relena: ?Oh no, I?m here to visit my parents. Their both sick. Where are your parents?? Heero: ?My mother is hurt, I don?t have a father.? Relena: ?I see.? A woman came up and took Relena away. Heero was about to follow when then doctor came up to him and took him to Roxanne.
End Dream.
Amanda was in her taxi being drove back to the mansion.
Memory?
Amanda stood in the hospital hallway watching Heero with Relena as they talked. She saw the looks in their eyes. The doctor took Heero out of site and stared at Relena as she walked right by her.
End Memory
Amanda sat with a frozen look on her face. A tear rolls down her cheek and she quietly says, ?Well Heero, I guess you made your choice.'
