All She Ever Wanted

It was all she ever wanted. Everyday of her life, she pictured it just like this. People she knew were everywhere and orchids teased her nose. The little bouquet before her was fresh and vivid.

All around her excitement buzzed through the air. The beautiful church was filled with people in formal dress. A light summer heat permeated the building, but the quiet fans provided comfort. ?You look beautiful, Relena.?

?Thank you, Catherine.?

Relena touched the locket at the nape of her neck nervously. Heero gave it to her two months ago. He had come back from one of his infamous disappearances. He told her that he loved her and he was ready.

She had welcomed him with open arms and an open bed. They shared something that night that was very special to them both. They had only grown closer.

Hilde came running in, late as usual. ?I thought we were going to have to start without you!? Catherine joked.

Finally the wedding party was complete. Everyone was talking and the wedding planner was desperately trying to get the women all lined up. Relena looked through the double oak doors and spotted Heero. Their eyes locked in a passionate gaze.

?Oh, Relena! Can you believe this is finally it?? Hilde?s eyes were filling with moisture.

?If you cry, you?ll smear your make-up. And I knew this day would come. I always knew it would come.?

?You seem so confident, Relena. And weddings always make me cry.?

?You?re allowed to cry, Hilde.?

Hilde did a light laugh and dabbed at her eyes. ?What would Duo say if he saw me like this??

?He would say you?re beautiful.?

Hilde gave her a quick hug before she was ushered away by the wedding planner. Soon, they were all lined up and ready to make the procession down the aisle. The music began and a nervous energy went through Relena.

The wedding had been beautiful-everyone had said so. Relena and Hilde had both cried before it was over. The vows had been so dreamy. And before the happy couple knew it, the day was over and it was time for the honeymoon to commence. A sleek convertible was parked outside and a shower of rose petals fell as the couple made their way to the Caribbean.

Relena had been sad to see her friends go, but she had returned to her cozy apartment with Heero. They were both tired and fell asleep that night together.

Relena woke up the next morning sick. She had thrown up numerous times that morning and had a headache that was blinding. Heero tended to her every need.

?Ah, what did I eat last night??

?Relena.?

She turned to look at the dark hair man beside her. ?What??

?Are you sure it was the food??

Relena narrowed her eyes at him, trying to figure out what was going through his mind. ?What are you thinking, Heero Yuy??

Heero just let his gaze bore into her. Relena began to squirm under his scrutiny. ?What??

?Why else would you be sick??

?Well, I could have caught a cold, I could be working to many hours?Wait, you?re not implying that?You couldn?t mean that?? Relena let her words die.

Heero simply nodded. ?But Heero I haven?t miss-? he paused to mentally to tabulate the last few months.

?Surely that must just be stress.? She said it aloud just to try make it true.

?How long, Relena??

?Um?six weeks??

And suddenly it sunk in. ?We?re going to have a baby.?

The emptiness of her voice startled Heero. He had been expecting joy. Sure she probably would have been startled and a little upset. But he didn?t think she would sound so hollow.

?Relena??

?We?re going to have a baby.?

Heero moved over next to her and took her hand. ?Yes. Yes we are.?

?Am I ready? I mean what will everyone think? We?re not married. This place is too small. I?m too young. I mean at twenty-two I have accomplished a lot but I?m not old enough to be a mother and have a job. I haven?t even really finished college. A baby. What-?

Heero kissed her to quiet her. He stroked her hair and let her babble. It finally consummate with Relena crying into his shirt. ?We?ll find a way to make this work, Relena. I promise.?

And, no Ms. Worm, it was not a dream, although it might have seemed like one, said events really happened. I didn't get the impression that Relena made up any of it.
As for her current condition, it is simply a state of shock at the reality of it all, which is perfectly normal.

okay, to clarify, (sorry for any confusion!) the first part was just meant to bring the ending unexpectedly for the reader. It weas actually Hilde and Duo's wedding. Relena was just a bride's maid. I wanted to take a different look at the whole "most young girls dream of being brides." I wanted Relena to just want a supporting role in love, not really ready for a strong love and marriage. And then came the baby.

ah! ...wen u explained it, i read it thru a second time to see that the happy unnamed couple made their way to the Carribean while Relena went home to her apartment with Heero...hehe, i knew something was off about that

this is really cool!!!

this time Relena is the one who's scared about the prospect of having a child, usually its always Heero who get scared or questions himself whether or not he's willing to commit himself in that kind or responsibility....

I just admire the realism of it all...especially Relena!...No one can just expect her to burst out laughing and jump around with joy...Of course, she needs to consider the consequences of having a baby under the given circumstances as well....You were right Mellie...as you've said, this was originally meant for the GW500 challenge but then it grew to something more....something that is promising indeed to become a full-blown series!!! ...a sequel is in demand!!!..heh, but no pressure intended there, ok?...keep writing!!!
