Life without You: Prologue

Prologue
People say that I am the only one who can peace alive and steady. They say that I am the only one for the job and that I am the only one they want. Well I know for a fact that peace can survive without me. I know for a fact that there are many other people who are qualified for the job.
As of this very moment I am resigning from the position of Vice Foreign Minister. This is a very hard decision that I am making because I have never wanted to leave my people. But I know my limits and it is time I took some time off. I am now going to live a normal life like I have always dreamed of having. I am going to sleep in and party. I am going to go to school and have a regular job.
Please do not try and find me. I want to experience life to the fullest...I want to be normal. I know that I am being selfish but I?m nineteen! I love you all. Please forgive me for not saying a proper goodbye but if I had stayed to say goodbye I would have never left.
I will contact you, Lady Une, in a months time to let you know how I am doing. Goodbye and good luck.
Lady Une watched the group of people she had called into her office to watch the tape Relena had sent her that morning. She waited for some reaction but they were all silent, even Duo Maxwell who always had something to say. She called her secretary into her office and handed her the second disk Relena had sent her.
?Have this played at seven o?clock tonight,? Lady Une instructed. The woman nodded and left the silent office. ?Well since none of you have any comments I?m going to dismiss you.?
Everyone got up and were walking out of the office. Once outside sound could be heard and everything seemed to go back to normal. Lucrezia Noin walked into the office and sat in an empty chair in front of Une?s desk.
?How did they take it?? Noin looked at her friend.
?They didn?t say a WORD...not even Maxwell...? Une sat behind her desk. ?Do you think they?ll try and track her down??
?Most likely. But they won?t find her. She left all her information in my hands...well not all of it but some. She just left the number of her cell phone,? Noin stated.
?We could use that to track her--? Noin cut her off.
?No, Zechs gave her that phone...he made sure no one would track her,?
?They have stayed in contact?? Une looked a bit shocked. ?I thought he didn?t want her to know he was alive??
?She cornered me and I spilled...that was four months ago,? Noin stood up. ?Call me when she contacts you again.?
?See you Noin,? Lady Une waved a little as the woman left. She turned to her computer and began to work. This would be a big change for everyone but while the others may doubt Relena?s decision, she didn?t. This would be a new beginning for the princess. This would be a new beginning for everyone.

Relena walked into her apartment to see it bare and empty. Thoughts ran through her head as she planned on how to decorate it. Blue walls...white couch...small kitchen table. She walked around the small apartment analyzing what need to be repaired and/or painted.
?I?m going to need to start a bank account tomorrow with my new name...until then it looks like I?m going to have to sleep on the air mattress I brought...? Relena sighed as she pulled the mattress out of her suitcase and the air pump. She took out her pillow and blanket. When the bed was done blowing up, she changed and then laid down. ?Tomorrow will be day one of my new life...?
Relena fell asleep moments later.
