Chapter five- His Purpose
The sounds of soft rumble and the roll of wheels had echoed upon the empty fields, the two moons upon the sky illuminating the scene. Its light pushed into one particular room, encompassing a silent figure, his arms wrapped around his blade as his form sitting upon the floors, just by a rough bed with the figure of a young girl upon it, her lap acting like a cushion upon his head. He shifted his form, his hair brushing upon the young girl as a smile moved upon her lips, her head nudging lightly upon a pillow.
He opened his eyes slowly, his vision blurred as he blinked once again, slowly gaining vision, first a haze of dark blue and light brown, then to a slight of cloth, lifted slightly as the young girl stretched, a half moan escaping her lips though she had remained upon the trance of sleep.
His eyes widened, his head tilting away quickly, almost jumping, his face, though shadowed by the darkness of the night, filled up with a dark crimson color, his breathing gaining slowly. He took a glance upon her face as she mumbled upon her sleep, voicing out a name that was his. The red upon his cheeks dissipated, his lips moving to a smile as he stood up, moving a step by her, his hand slowly moving down to rest upon her cheek... almost.
The sounds of explosion resonated all around as fire and brimstone moved upon the scent of the caravan. The fallen king?s form wobbled, though he had quickly gained focus, holding the hilt of his blade as he moved towards the window, his gaze darting around. The short haired girl coughed upon the smoke that had entered the room, her form slowly moving to a sit, her eyes bearing confusion as her lips parted, her eyes moving towards the fallen king, voicing out his name.
Another blast had cut their voices to a silence as the part they were upon had shifted up, crashing upon its side, half of it burning into cinders, the other almost completely crushed. Her form fell upon the change of position, crashing against the far wall, a scream escaping her mouth as she moved her form into a ball, tears pushing itself from her eyes. He, on the other hand, held a grip upon the window, shouting out her name, though hard to gain sight through the cloud of smoke, he released his hand, letting himself fall towards the wall, an arm quickly wrapping around her just as she were on arm?s length, pulling her close to him.
The caravan part they were upon took another roll, his arms wrapping around her, letting his form cushion hers just as they had fell upon the ceiling, which upon this time was oriented as the floor. She held tight against his form, another scream pushing through the noise of the bombardments.
Her head forced itself against his chest, soaking his dark red shirt just upon another spin of the caravan, rolling them once again, reorienting their surroundings, the window moving to be placed upon the floor. His arm around her tightened as they fell out of the room, rolling upon the force of the fall, he stood up, his eyes darting around himself.
Battle raged upon his surroundings, helping the short haired girl up though she held back a stifle of a scream, her eyes closing tight, her form falling upon the dirt floor. He moved his attention towards her, crouching down, his eyes trailing her form, moving down upon the sight of her leg, blood rushing down, staining her dress just as it had stained his lower garment. His eye moved upon hers as she opened them slightly, biting her lip. He took of his shirt, tying the cloth around her leg, pulling it tight, her eyes tightening once again upon the pressure on her wound. He held her upon his back, her arms wrapping around his neck tight as they ran into the fray.
Her legs wrapped around his waist just as he had released her, her form clinging against his as he unsheathed his blade, the sound of steel upon flesh from both sides clear to them just as blood had splashed upon his form. Her wounds had stung once again as her grip upon him loosened, forcing her to hit the floors, her form quickly moving to lie down upon the ground.
He crouched down upon reflex, moving his hand to brush the stray hair upon her face, her eyes closed tight, her hand moving to his. He stood, releasing her hand, staying upon the very same spot, parrying and pushing off any who would approach.
The opposing army had almost been undecipherable through the darkness, though the light of two moons had reflected upon their armor. He held no hesitation upon his strikes as his blade fell upon the steel of black armor, his eyes moving to a rage. He breathed heavily, nodding upon the rush of dark blue through the haze of smoke, the black armored legion seeming intent upon the fallen king?s position. The haze of blue wrapped around the two figures as the fallen king had been pulled by the long haired man.
?Their Intent Is Hitomi!? He shouted through the blaze of canons and clash of swords.
The fallen king narrowed his eyes, jumping of towards battle once again, though his movements were intercepted by the long haired man once again, ?Don?t Be A Fool! Take Her And Run!?
?What of...? The voice of the fallen king had been cut as the long haired man spoke once again, ?Your Task Now Is To Protect Her! Leave The Fighting To Us!?
Their arms clasped in a tight grip as the fallen king voiced, ?The final day is far from now...?
?Hope...? The long haired man?s silent reply as he nodded.
The fallen king?s blade moved down to sheathe back upon its saya, his arms wrapping around the short haired girl as he pulled her form up. She had been silent now, her eyes closed, a trance of pain had moved her to become unconscious.
The light of two moons encompassed upon two figures, a young man holding a wounded girl in his arms, the sight of flames and battle behind them. The light continued to trail him as he ran off, holding her tight.
