A Final Goodbye

When the time comes for me to die,
I simply ask that you do not cry.
A person like does not deserve your tears,
All I've done is calm people's fears.
All those days of mindless chatter,
And in the end it doesn't even matter.
What we set to accomplish almost came true,
But somehow the bad always broke through.
Now it's you that I see here,
Don't fret for I have no fear.
But I wonder if you know I?m here now,
And all I can do is ask you 'how?'
Have you come to fulfill your promise?
I almost hope you miss.
Then I could hold you and tell you it's all right,
But I see I'm no longer needed in this fight.
So goodbye my soldier from above,
I'm on my way to meet Him and his love.
When the sun rises up the day after I'm gone,
I hope you are able to move on.
So farewell and goodbye,
I'll miss you and I...

Okay, I had this picture of Relena and her last thoughts as she is flying in a shuttle and encounters the Wing Zero.
That was my first attempt at a poem, and my first work in quite a while.
To thyne own self be true....

Was that The Scarlet Letter you quoted? "Be true! Be true! Be true!" Perhaps it's from another, but it sounds like something he would write.
Anyway, I thought this was wonderful for your first poem. It had great emotion behind the words, and your stanzas broke at convenient points. I woudn't have guessed it was your first. Nice. ^_^
