Author’s Note: Hello everyone! Gundam Wing is copyrighted to Bandi, Soutsu Agency and Sunrise (anyone ever notice how we paste this at the top of every page but use the characters anyway? As if disclaimers could really save us from lawsuits…but then again, Bandi & co. are rich enough already and lawyers need to be lazy sometimes…I suppose poor, sleep-deprived teenagers cranking out fics on half-dead, outdated microprocessors need not fall into the ‘copyright infringement’ category ^_^).

This fic is largely based upon Universal Picture’s The Bourne Identity (2002). The plot is basically the same, except for a few slight modifications. Meaning; I do not own the characters or even the plot. Ergh…I do own the right of having put the characters into the plot, however. ^_^ So sorry if I ruined anyone’s fun (you could call this a spoiler). I found the DVD at my uncle’s house, and when I saw Jason Bourne in the movie, I thought Heero… I even went to the library to borrow the book by Robert Ludlum and spent two days straight reading it (drastically different from the movie; in my opinion the movie is more exciting). So here is the result of my twisted mind – enjoy!

The Yuy Identity
[Prologue]

Mediterranean Sea
10:45 PM

The young man stepped quietly into the darkened room, his footsteps silent against the soft lull of the ocean’s waves, gently rocking the hull of the boat. He felt the familiar cool metal of the weapon in his right hand. His Prussian blue eyes settled on his sleeping target. He raised the gun with mechanical ease; it would all be over in a few seconds.

The trigger was half-pressed when he heard a shuffling sound to his left. The marksman pivoted, his aim now on the eyes of the…innocent. Movement to his right; three more young witnesses. The assassin returned the cold barrel to the head of his original victim. Still sleeping…unprotected, unwary, perfect prey for the kill. The four pairs of naive eyes around him were young, they would not know what they had seen. He would do the job and be done with this. And yet…the innocence. The man lying on the cot marked for death was not, but the rest…were.

I…I can’t do this… The young marksman turned, left the room as silently and suddenly as he had appeared. He stepped into the kitchen of the yacht, was across and onto the damp deck of the small boat. It had begun to rain, the stinging drops pelting his lean body. Just like me… He dropped his handgun; it was swept overboard by angry waves, growing higher and tossing the boat.

Movement to the left and a glint of steel. The young man spun and dove to the right of the deck, the sound of muffled gunshots and splintering wood piercing the air where he had been moments before. It was his intended victim, the old man blind with rage wielding an automatic.

I’ve got to get off the boat- Bullets shattering the air, machinegun fire in downpour, metal as common as rain. The boat lurched, spun high by a treacherous wave. The young man leaped over the railing, falling over the side into the sea. But not before the last wave of desperate gunfire, the Spit! Spit! telling of hits making their mark. The old man was swept back into his floating cabin, confident he had eliminated his would-be assassin.

* * * * * *

Two bullets in his back; a broken body in the cold, swirling sea. The young man was blinded by the stinging salt, his wounds aggravated by the powerful waves which sought to drown him. Rain pouring down, yet his head was on fire with pain, his back felt rigidly cold. He struggled against death’s hold, survival propelled by instinct. Pain…is my friend. It means I am still alive.

I failed…Mission Failed. Aborted… Why was he fighting? Peace was coming. No one would survive. But Heero Yuy cannot be killed. He is no one… Darkness was coming, and he wanted to meet that peace so much. He was tired, and all he wanted was rest…

Mission Failed. “I should have killed him…” I am Heero Yuy.

AN: Confusing? Intriguing? It ought to be. ^_^ Sorry this was so short (my author’s notes seem longer, huh?), but this is the prologue. I tend to ramble, so I will end on a positive note. The first chapter will be longer and enlightening, I promise. My Spring Break is coming to an end, but =sigh= I will do my best for all you wonderful people. God bless!

Wow, I'm interested as to how you're going to weave the GW characters into the 'Bourne Identity' plot -- but I liked the beginning -- very cool. Continue! :D
