Gundam Wing: Black Out

Surprise! I managed to finish my story before my internet was disconnected. I don?t know if this will be my better ones, but I thought I?d post anyway. I can?t make it any better than I know how. I?m already working on a sixth story that will probably be ready until after I?ve settled in. And believe me, this shows promise? this will be the fifth story I?ve written. I got this idea when I remembered an old childhood memory. I lived out in the country for six years and there were brutal winds, storms, blizzards, and about three times, there were blackouts. The first time there was a blackout? we had lamb over our box fireplace. It was delicious? for most of the time it was pretty fun, but? I was also reaching an age where I learned that no one could be trusted. Not even my beloved parents who had raised me my whole life in good morals and standards. Yup? those were the times when I learned to grow eyes in the back of my head and see better in the dark. All that really put hair on my chest and now? I trust no one?

Prelude?
The year is After Colony 198? Earth was looking more beautiful than ever in the light of peace. The colonies shimmer like the stars in the sky as they display the beauty of life in space. But then? one of the colonies in its cluster slowly dimmed until it went pitch black. A few minutes later? two more colonies dim out of sight and go pitch black as well. Soon? the entire cluster has vanished in space. The lights of the colonies have completely failed and the people of those colonies are now in the dark?
Chapter 1?
Wufei, Sally, Noin, and Zechs and are having a little R&R on the beach. Noin and Sally were talking about girl stuff. They had dragged Wufei with them to try to get him enjoy himself once in a while. Only Wufei could actually make the vacation worse for the girls. Zechs had been gone for quite a while and Noin was starting to get a little worried. They started talking about what married life was like and the ups and downs of it.
Zechs wanted a little entertainment. He stood on the sidewalk with the food waiting for Wufei to start something. He knew that brat would make some sarcastic remark and the girls would beat him up.
Outside the colony? Quatre was approaching with Dorothy and his ship was lining up with the guide-beacons. Quatre got on the com-panel and said, ?This is Quatre in shuttle 7732? request permission to dock?? A voice over the speaker saying, ?Rodger Quatre? you are clear to dock, and welcome to the colony.? ?Thank you control? Quatre out.?
Trowa was getting ready for his next circus act. He walked by, patted the elephants, fed the lions and tigers, and gave a banana to addition to the family? the chimp named Ally Op. Ally always teased Trowa. Catherine enjoyed sending Trowa to feed him because Ally would always go for his hair. She knew that Trowa would be to quick for Ally so she always distracted him. So like usual? Trowa got the banana and sighed. He walked up to Ally and said, ?Here you go Ally, no pulling hair ok?? Ally? who was hanging from the cage bars shook his head up and down saying yes. Trowa handed Ally the banana and at that moment, Catherine walked in and said, ?Trowa? I think you forgot something.? Trowa turned to look at her and said, ?What is it?? When Trowa turned his head? he felt a tap tap tap on his shoulder. He looked at Ally who gave great big smile and grabbed his hair. Ally yanked Trowa against the cage shaking him violently and Trowa yelled, ?Catherine! Help!? Catherine pulled him free and Trowa striated his hair asking, ?What did I forget?? Catherine said, ?I guess it can wait till later.? She walked away and Trowa just stared at her in confusion? then he realized what she did and rolled his eyes.
Duo and Hilde headed to the park for a picnic and enjoy the scenery. Hilde trotted gracefully to the spot and eloquently put the blanket on the ground. The cool wind blew in her face as the breeze carried through the colony. In her radiant beauty she looks over at Duo lugging the huge picnic basket and says, ?Duo! Come on? you?re wasting precious daylight.? Duo made it to the mat and said, ?Well Hilde? it might be easy if you helped.? ?You need to put some hair on you?re chest anyway. You keep this up and you might actually grow a few.? Duo raised his eyebrow and said, ?How would you know that I have any?? ?I remembered what I saw when I went looking for you.? Duo?s eyes widened and he said, ?You remember that? That was six months ago? man? and I was just getting over that.? ?If you had answered me when I called? I wouldn?t have walked into the bathroom.? ?Ok ok? why don?t we get this picnic started.? ?Good idea? hansom.? Duo?s eyes widened and he sat down and said, ?Can we please just get this started?? Hilde smiled and said, ?Ok? lets eat.? Duo opened the basket and the two began their picnic.
Relena was restless? she was getting bored while everybody else was doing something fun? without her? She walked into the living room and picked up the phone. She had an idea on what to do, but she needed an excuse for it to work. An idea came to her mind but she would have to wait an hour.
Chapter 2?
In the dark? deep in the core of the colony? little lights of the worker?s area show the size of the core. In the work area? workers are working at ease unaware of an approaching danger. A worker from the observation room runs to the chief engineer with a scary report. Rachel Anderson ran from the bright hallways into the dimly lit core labor section. She ran to Johnathen Malkeir who was monitoring the core. She got to his work station and said, ?John? we have a problem?? He looked at her and said, ?What is it?? ?The entire L1 colony cluster is out of power.? ?What? How did that happen?? ?That?s the bad news? an interstellar storm is sweeping through this system. The storm is giving off powerful electro-magnetic discharges. Its is huge? it?ll sweep through this entire cluster and every electrical system will cascade.? ?Is there any way we can avoid it?? ?No. Its gets worse? Earth?s magnetosphere is causing the storm?s speed to increase. An e.t.a. on the storm is two hours.? ?Get everybody ready.? ?Yes sir.?
Forty-five minutes have passed and it seemed like the clock was ticking backwards. Relena sat on the couch in the middle of the big living room with a dead stare on the clock. Finally? the little hand hit seven and Relena had the phone in her hand before she knew she picked it up. She dialed the number and held the phone close waiting for the slightest sound.
In his apartment? Heero was under the sink fixing the worthless plumbing. He was tightening some joint that some idiot didn?t tighten. He was using all his might tightening that joint. Just then he heard the phone ring and let go of wrench to get up. When he did? the wrench fell off the joint and landed on his head. He grunted and got out of the sink. He ran to the phone and picked it up. Heero said, ?Who is it??
?Its Relena? what are you doing for dinner??
?I don?t know. I haven?t made plans yet.?
?Would you like to come over to my house to eat??
?Why??
?Because I?m bored! Now come on over here? please??
Heero raised his eyebrow? he didn?t know what had got into Relena. She might be having problems so he said, ?Ok? I?ll be there in a little bit.?
?Good? I?ll see you in a little bit.?
Heero hung up the phone and said, ?I hope she?s ok.?
A few minutes later, Heero arrived. Relena opened the doors to see that he only put on his casual clothes. Relena thought to herself, ?Either he doesn?t know what nice clothes mean, or that?s the kind of cloths he?s got at all.? Relena herself had worn moderate clothes? she didn?t want to be extravagant. Relena stepped aside and said, ?Come on in.? Heero said, ?Thanks?? and walked in. Relena lead Heero into the dining room where the chefs had prepared a meal. Heero sat down to the table and looked at the food. He kind of looked it over and asked Relena, ?What is this?? Relena sat down to the table and said, ?Its caviar.? Heero just looked at it and said, ?Is it alive?? Relena started to eat and said, ?No? haven?t you ever eaten caviar before?? Heero leaned back a little and said, ?I?ve never heard of it.? Relena looks at him and said, ?Well try it and see what you think.? So Heero sampled a bite? He got the urge to vomit? his gagging reflex kicked into overdrive as the ?taste?? went down his throat. Heero managed to hide it all until Relena asked, ?Heero? you?re pale? are you ok.? Heero gripped his neck and said, ?I?m? ok I? just got a frog? in my throat?? ?Do you need a glass of water?? ?Yes please.? Relena walked out of the room towards the kitchen. Heero swallowed hard while his taste buds screamed to him, ?Heero! You stupid idiot! Why on Earth did you try to kill yourself!? Relena brought the glass of water and Heero drank it calmly. She picked up the glass and took it back to the kitchen. Heero shook the feeling of shook off and continued eating? something else.
Noin and Sally continued their conversation going into old age and insurance. They got wrapped up in the joy of gracefully aging. It was grand? Noin said, ?I hope to be wise when I get old. Wise woman make good roll models.? Sally said, ?Ya? but I also want to be drop dead beautiful just like I am now.? They relished the thought when the moment was broken by Wufei saying, ?Well maybe if you stop drowning yourselves with makeup then maybe you can salvage your looks and your brains.? Sally and Noin looked at him using the best Heero death glare they could do. Wufei sat and continued to read his book when two shadows came over him?
Quatre approached the port when a call came on the com channel. A voice said, ?This is docking bay three? respond, please.? Quatre said, ?This is Quatre? read you loud and clear.? ?Quatre? there is a interstellar storm approaching the colony. Can you return to your colony?? ?No, we can?t.? ?Alright? head for the emergency bay and shut down all power on the shuttle.? ?Understood? Quatre out.? Dorothy looked at Quatre and said, ?Do you know what an interstellar storm is?? ?I think it means its some kind of storm that moves through the galaxy.? ?I?ll try and see if I can scan it.? ?Go ahead and do that, I?ll dock the ship.?
Trowa was getting ready for his first performance. The old dagger show? Catherine decided to take it easy on Trowa and threw the knives about four inches from his face. Trowa was just standing there? enjoying the view. The crowd cheered for them as Catherine moved to three inches closer. Trowa still just stood there pretty much with a blank look on his face.
Duo was starting to enjoy this picnic? it had got to the good part. Duo sat in front of the beach watching the waves while Hilde snuggled under his arm. Hilde looked up at Duo and said, ?Duo? what are your plans for the future?? Duo thought for a minute and said, ?Well??
Relena and Heero? finished eating and got up from the table. On her way out? Relena cracked her knee on the chair and fell to the floor. Heero ran around the table to help her. She struggled to her feet unable to hide a little smirk that her little plan had worked. Heero helped her up and said, ?Are you ok?? She looked at him and said, ?Ya? I?m ok. Could you take me to my room so I can lay down.? Heero helped her up the stairs and into her bedroom. He laid her on the bed and said, ?Are you ok?? She groaned, ?Ya? thanks? that really hurt.? Heero said, ?I don?t think you broke anything? I?ll see myself out then? goodnight Relena.? Relena sat up and said, ?Wait? why don?t you stay? keep me company. We could still talk for a while.? Heero was still wandering if she was ?ok?, but she seemed fine. Heero sat down with her and they started talking?
Chapter 3?
Zechs was cracking up watching Wufei make dust storms across the beach. He had almost escaped the two rampaging bulls when he tripped on a rock in the sand. Sally put Wufei in a headlock while Noin had his leg and was twisting his ankle. Wufei shouted through the pain saying, ?I won?t take it back!? Hearing that, Noin twisted harder causing Wufei to scream in agony. Just then Zechs walked in and said, ?Hey guys I got the food.? Sally looked at Noin to see what she thought. Noin nodded her head and they let go of Wufei. He gasped for air while the girls started eating. Sally turned to Wufei and said, ?Why don?t you join us?? Wufei just looked at them with a stare of confusion.
Rachel Anderson watched the monitors carefully following the storm. The screen remain unchanged until she something else showing up on the screen. Solar winds were coming in behind the storm and they were much faster. Rachel got on the intercom and called Johnathen. He came on the screen and said, ?What is it?? ?John, what?s your status on the core?? ?We?re getting ready to shut the core down in five minutes.? ?Forget that and initiate emergency core shutdown!? ?Why?? ?Solar winds are pushing the storm much faster and will hit the colony in three minutes!? ?We can?t shut the core down in that time.? ?Find a way or this colony is going to be nothing but debris in space!? ?Rodger!? John got off the intercom and ran towards the core. He said, ?Everybody? evacuate now! Jonas, open the vents? we?ll have to drain the energy.? ?If we drain the energy, the core won?t be able to recharge!? ?We don?t have time, now do it!? Rachel came over the announcer and said, ?The winds will hit the storm in two minutes and thirty seconds!? Jonas pushed the controls and said, ?Initiating core venting!?
Outside? Quatre?s shuttle was approaching the docks. Quatre began positioning the shuttle and said, ?Dorothy? what are the sensors telling you about the storms?? Dorothy didn?t respond? she just stared out the window with a terrified look on her face. Quatre looked out the window to see a massive, overwhelming, violent storm coming in fast.
Catherine got ready to throw her last dagger and was aiming right next to his mask?
Duo looked at Hilde and said, ?Hilde? what are your plans for the future?? Hilde looked at the waves and went, ?Hmm??
Heero was getting more comfortable sitting in bed with Relena. Relena paused for a minute thinking and said, ?Heero? what are your plans for the future?? Heero just looked at her with blank look on his face.
Chapter 4?
The colony began rumbling and Jonas and John grabbed the rail bars. Jonas supported himself on the consol and looked at it. John said, ?Is it working?? ?Yes? there will be a little energy left, but not enough to damage the colony!? ?Good!?
Dorothy watched the storm come while Quatre worked the controls. Quatre said, ?I?ve managed to dock the shuttle. We?re going to have to dump the core? we can?t shut it down in time.? Dorothy opened a lid, pulled a lever, and said, ?Core ejected!?
The food flew in the air and everybody fell to the ground. They got together and held onto each other.
Catherine threw the dagger? just as her hand released, a force knocked her aim off sending the dagger strait for Trowa?s face. Trowa saw this coming and started to move to the side.
The force began to shake Duo around? he grabbed Hilde and held her close as the rumbling got worse.
The rumbling took Heero by surprise and knocked him of the bed. Relena gripped the bed and Heero tried to get back up.
Jonas said, ?Brace for impact!?
The storm hit the colony?
Small bolts of lightning streamed over the whole colony and Quatre?s shuttle. The lights began dimming as the storm roared through the cluster. Every colony?s lights began to flicker as the entire cluster begins to dim into space.
The enormous room of the core lit up with lightning bolts going all around. Jonas screams through the noise, ?All the core?s energy is drained! I?ve just gotta close the vents!? John looked at his own consol witch exploded into sparks. He looked at Jonas and said, ?Jonas? the console?s cascading! Get away from there!? ?I?m almost done!? Jonas? consol exploded in his face injuring him. John ran out of the room carrying Jonas and closed the door? Jonas was successful in closing the vents and there was no more danger to the colony.
The storm had passed and the rumbling on the colony stopped. The power on the colony was out and it was going to stay that way?
Chapter 5?
Wufei and the others got up. While getting up, he slipped on the same rock and fell to the ground. Wufei stood up again and felt around for the others. He felt? something? and held it. In a serious tone, Sally said, ?Wufei?? ?Ya?? ?You found me?? Wufei quickly realized what he got a hold of and let go. Wufei found her hand and held on to it. Zechs said, ?I guess the power?s out. There?s a store that sells candles just up the beach. Noin asked, ?How do we get there?? Wufei used his fine tuned hearing and said, ?Follow me.? He guided the others away from the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.
Quatre and Dorothy got up and looked outside only to see a black mass in space. Quatre looked at Dorothy and said, ?Are you ok?? Dorothy nodded her head and said, ?Ya? let?s get out of here.? ?Right.? Quatre and Dorothy floated up and started opening the door.
Even though the stage lights are off, the luminescent beads of light made figures in the dark visible. Catherine called to the crowd and said, ?Everybody don?t panic. We are dealing with the situation. Stay calm and stay seated.? She starts to walk to Trowa when a man from the crowd yells, ?Is this some act?? Catherine yells back, ?No? Stay calm. This is no act.? She turns again to walk to Trowa when another man shouts, ?What kind of circus is this? Get on with the show.? Catherine looks up at him and says, ?If you don?t like it? you can wonder in the dark out there.? The crowd stayed silent and Catherine started turning when a hand touched her shoulder. Catherine said, ?Who is it?? The calming voice of Trowa replied, ?It?s Trowa.? Catherine smiled and said, ?Ok? let?s take care of this problem.? ?I?ll take care of the crowd.? Catherine said with a sarcastic tone, ?Right? I?ll get the boxing gloves.?
Heero stood up in the dark. He couldn?t see anything? he had no clue as to what happened, but that won?t stop him. He says, ?Relena? do you have a flashlight somewhere?? ?Yes? its in the kitchen. Its in the first shelf when you walk in.? ?Good? where is the stairs?? Relena sat up and said, ?Do you feel the side of the bed?? Heero felt for the corner of the bed and stood up. Heero said, ?Yes? I feel the side of the bed.? ?Ok? take twenty paces strait forward, turn left, fifty paces, and you?ll find the stairs.? Heero started to walk off and Relena got out of bed. Heero turned left and walked fifty paces. He felt around and said, ?Relena? I can?t find the stairs.? Relena came to the hall and said, ?Take five more.? Heero counted? fifty-one? fifty-two? fifty-three? Relena started to walk down the hall when she heard a thudding on the stairs. The thudding turned to crashing and continued for a few seconds followed by the breaking of wood furniture, the ripping of cloths, the breaking of large glass, and a very weak inhale? Relena walked to the edge of the stairs and said, ?Heero are you ok?? ?I?m? fine?? Relena slowly made her way down stairs when a light came from the living room. Heero had found the flashlight and lead Relena to him. She came up to him and said, ?Heero are you ok?? Heero again replied, ?I?m fine.? Relena looked at his tank top half ripped apart. Relena gasped and said, ?Are you hurt?? ?No. I?m fine.? ?Your shirt is torn apart? how did that happen?? ?A piece of furniture caught it.? ?Give the me flashlight and wait here? ok?? ?Ok??
Relena made her way back to the bedroom and to her dresser. She opened her shelf and looked for something fitting Heero?s liking. She came back down with the sweeter still folded and handed it to him. Heero turned around and ripped his tank top off and put on the sweeter. He turned around and Relena almost died with laughter as she saw Heero in all his glory wearing that sweeter. The sweeter was fuzzy white with a cute yellow bunny rabbit with button eyes. An inscription under the rabbit said, ?I LOVE YOU? Heero didn?t have a gun so he couldn?t kill this horrid creature that had attached itself to his body. Heero just kinda stood there? his mind went blank? the walls of his faculties were caving in. Relena broke his trance and said, ?We better get power.? Heero said, ?Sure? ok? fine.? They started to walk to the door when the flashlight started to flicker. Relena looked at the flashlight and said, ?Strange? those batteries should be fresh.? Heero noticed that the flashlight was getting hotter and threw to the other side of the room saying, ?Relena! Get down!? They both ducked and the flashlight exploded to bits. They stood up and Relena said, ?Great, how are we going to get light now?? Heero said, ?We could make a fire out of broken furniture and put in the living room.? With such big and vast house, Relena never put in a fireplace. ?Are you sure we could do that?? ?The room is big enough for a parade. How could it not be big enough?? Relena made the mistake that Heero was a tough guy and said, ?Aw Heero,? and hit him in shoulder with all her might. Unfortunately? Heero was turning towards her? All Relena heard was a CRACK? and a thud on the floor. There was nothing but silence and Relena said, ?Heero???
When Wufei reached the sidewalk, he again tripped on the edge and fell down. He shook off the headache and said, ?I found the sidewalk.? Noin said, ?Yes? I can see that.? Sally said, ?How?s that possible?? Noin thought for a minute and said, ?Hmm? good question.? They walked across the street and found the store with the candles. They lit the candles and stood watch for anyone who might see the light and need help. A little while later, Duo and Hilde came bringing the food.
Quatre and Dorothy made their way down the hall trying to use the access panels, but they were all offline. They made their way to the observation room where Rachel was sleeping in her chair. Quatre floated up to her and said, ?Are you ok?? She woke up and saw the lights. She shouted, ?Turn those lights off now and get rid of them!? They threw them away and a minute later? they exploded. ?My name is Rachel. I?m chief observations officer here on the colony.? ?My name is Quatre and this is Dorothy here with me. We were on our way to visit our friends.? ?Do you have technical expertise?? ?Ya? what happened here? What was that interstellar storm?? ?There was an a E.M. discharge in the core while we were deactivating it. All the electrical systems are offline and the core can?t recharge. The discharge was caused by the storm that was loaded with it. Solar winds pushed the storm faster towards and taking us by surprise.? ?I never knew this kind of thing existed.? ?Neither did we. This is the first spacial anomaly we have ever encountered. It probably won?t appear again for millions of years.? Dorothy said, ?Great? at lest we won?t have to deal with this again.?
Relena knelt down and was trying to wake Heero. She pushed him around saying, ?Heero? Heero wake up!? Relena heard a light groan and said, ?Heero? are you ok?? Heero just said, ?I?m fine.? They both stood up and Heero said, ?We need to find a way to get light.? ?I know, but how?? ?Do you have candles?? ?Ya, but I don?t have matches? the candles are only decretive.? ?Let?s head to the front door.? ?? Where?s the front door?? Heero began walking around feeling for the handle. Heero walked strait forward looking for a wall to follow. He found a wall and just as he started to follow it, he ran into something that hit him below the belt. Relena stood still. She didn?t want to trip in the dark? all she heard was a deep inhaling. Relena tried to follow the sound and said, ?Heero? Heero are you ok?? A weakened voice barely recognizable replied, ?I?m fine? I found? the door.? ?Great? I?ll wait till you open it.? Heero opened the door and there was no light. Relena was puzzled? was the entire colony out of power? Relena felt her way towards Heero until she found a hand. Relena held onto Heero and said, ?How are we going to find our way?? Heero looked around and said, ?I don?t know.? Relena looked around and caught a tiny light in the distance. Relena pulled Heero?s arm and said, ?Heero? I see a light!? ?Its probably a candle? lets hurry? it might go out.? ?Right.? Heero and Relena started running towards the light when something occurred to Relena. Relena slowed down a little and said, ?Heero? I think we need to stop.? Heero said in confusion, ?Why?? CRASH? Relena stopped and leaned over Heero hearing the violent vibrations of the decretive steel bars she used as a fence. ?Heero! Are you ok?? Heero groaned, ?I?m? fine?? and then collapsed.
Chapter 6?
Down in the core. The men were using luminescent lights while running around trying to get the core activated. It was a lost cause; the whole thing had to be started with some energy. The process couldn?t be started manually and support was busy repairing colonies that were more seriously damaged. The storm knocked out power in three colony clusters and several outposts the were set up along the storm path. Quatre and Johnathen were working on the core while Dorothy and Rachel tended the wounded. The tall and strong man Jonas had been seriously injured and Dorothy could only do so much for him. He lay on the floor unconscious? his dark brown hair and hazel eyes caught Dorothy?s attention. She sat on the floor trying to make him comfortable. Jonas finally woke and looked around. He saw Dorothy and said, ?Are you a doctor?? Dorothy looked down saddened by Jonas? question and answering, ?No?? Jonas looked at her and said, ?Do I need a doctor?? Dorothy looked up at him and said, ?From what I can tell? you have internal bleeding and your tailbone is fractured. Your spinal cord is in tact, but you won?t be able to move until you can get help. You?ll have to stay here while I take care of the others.? ?Alright? thank you.? Dorothy walked off and tended another patient. She was sad because this man was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the colony. She sat down caught in the drama. The massive muscles on the guy?s arms replaced her thoughts of heroism. She began to map every curve on his arm? working her way to his chest and down his stomach? to his? Her thoughts were stopped dead in their tracks when Rachel came up to her and said, ?Dorothy? why are you drooling?? She broke her trance and said, ?Huh?? ?There is drool running down your mouth.? Dorothy wiped her sleeve and said, ?How did that happen?? ?Maybe it had something to do with the big drunken smile you had on your face.? ?I didn?t realize I was even smiling.? Rachel laughed loudly and said, ?You?ve obviously met Jonas!? Dorothy?s mind said, ?Oh shit? Quatre!? She quickly shoveled the thought under the rug and put her attention on Quatre and wondered what it would be like to do Quatre? She became depressed because Quatre was so scrawny.
Quatre and Johnathen were standing by the core trying to find a way to recharge the core. Johnathen read the report and looked up at Quatre. She sighed deeply and said, ?The news isn?t good. The protected core that was supposed have enough reserve energy to restart the main generator was totally destroyed.? ?I thought the core was designed to resist E.M. discharges?? ?Not one of this magnitude? that discharge alone was powerful enough to fuel the human race with energy for a week. The outer hull of the colony protected us from most of the blast, but when it got into the core room?? ?Isn?t this room air sealed?? ?The energy melted a little of the seals, we got it repaired. What got into the room was a small fraction of what was outside.? ?Maybe there?s a way to get energy back to the core.? ?How?? ?If we got enough explosives into the main generator and detonate them? we could get the energy to recharge the core and get it functional again.? ?The protected and auxiliary cores have been destroyed. The only way we could do that is if we put the explosive in the main core. The radiation would kill a human in seconds. Not even isolation suits could keep you alive long enough to get the device inside. And even if we could, the radiation would cause the explosives to go off.? ?What if we rapped the device in isolation suits?? ?It might last ten seconds before going off.? ?That?s all the time we?ll need.? ?Also? we would need the equivalent of a five thousand pound bomb to get the core started.? ?Then we better get started. We don?t any other choice.? ?Ya? your right? alright guys! Lets go!?
Everybody had huddled together in the store. There was nothing they could do at the moment. All they could do is wait. It was Zechs? and Noin?s shift to watch for people and they were standing outside the door with the candles to show the way. Zechs saw a figure come into view. It looked like someone was carrying someone else. He saw? Relena? and she was carrying? Heero. Zechs stood up and said, ?Oh my?? Noin looked around and said, ?Jesus!? Relena was struggling to carry on and Zechs rushed in and grabbed Heero. Heero had a huge bruise across his face and Noin gasped at the side of it.
Zechs carried Heero in still unconscious. Duo jumped to his feet and said, ?What happened to him!?? Zechs laid Heero down next to the fire. Relena was stunned by the bruise on Heero?s face and didn?t realize that Duo was shaking her around. Duo stepped in front of her view and said, ?Relena!? Relena jolted away from Duo and slapped his shoulder saying, ?Duo! Don?t scare me like that!? ?Well answer me! What happened to Heero?? Relena looked down at Heero and said, ?I don?t know. We were running when Heero ran into something.? Quatre said, ?Did he run into a tree?? Trowa cut in saying, ?No. There are no splinters on his face.? ?I heard a metal bar vibrating.? The guys were getting frustrated with Heero?s injuries. This situation was stressful enough without this. Wufei came in from the watch and said, ?Did you do this to Heero? Relena?? That sent the tension level right through the roof. Everybody started arguing about it while Zechs tried to calm them down. The fight was getting intense when Heero?s voice broke the air and said, ?Everybody quiet!? Suddenly? the room was silent. He sat up and said, ?We have more important things to worry about right now!? Everyone still remained quiet. Heero?s last words were hanging in their minds. Duo said, ?Heero? are you ok?? Heero said, ?Yes Relena, I?m fine.? Duo raised an eyebrow and said, ?Relena?? Heero said, ?Duo? yes? Duo? I?m fine.? Everyone started to calm down after that. When it settled? Noin noticed something? deferent? about Heero. She looked his sweeter over and saw what was different. She couldn?t help bust burst out in laughter and the site of Heero wearing? ?I LOVE YOU? on his body. Zechs said, ?What?s wrong?? Noin tried to control herself and said, ?His? his? Heero?s? SHIRT!? Noin held in her gut a she laughed her heart out. Duo started next saying, ?Did you forget your tank top?? Everybody started cracking? even Wufei. Everybody cried laughing except Zechs who was wondering why Heero was wearing his sister?s shirt. Heero was really getting irritated with this and shouted, ?Everybody? SHUTUP!? The laughing stopped instantly and Heero left the store. He ran out into the darkness where he tried to get a minute to think.
This had been a stressful day for Heero. All he was going to do was fix the damn plumbing and have Mario?s pizza. Instead? he?s wandering in the dark, his whole face and front body are aching, his favorite shirt?s been ripped, and to top it off? he?s been humiliated in front of everybody. It was all Relena?s fault. He felt like killing her again, but he knew that was impossible. He was trying to figure out what to do when Zechs came out and touched his shoulder. Zechs calmly said, ?I?m sorry for what happened there. Can I ask you a question?? ?Is it about the shirt?? ?How did you get it on?? ?Your wandering if I was sleeping with Relena? I wasn?t?? That answered Zechs questions. Zechs said, ?What happened to you Heero?? ?I ran into Relena?s fencing? maybe it be better if you went back inside.? Zechs respected his wishes and went back inside.
Quatre had got the explosives to make one really nice bang and they were wrapping the bombs in isolation suits. They would only have one try to do this. They also had to wait the residual E.M. field to clear or else the core would explode. Quatre floated above the core where he prepared to throw the bombs in.
Zechs walked in and sighed deeply. That was a very stressful situation he was in. Relena stood up and said, ?Is Heero? ok?? Zechs got agitated with her and said, ?Why don?t you go and see.? Relena glared at him and said, ?Fine? I will.? She walked out the door towards Heero. Zechs sat down and glared at everybody who all had guilty looks on their faces.
Relena walked outside to Heero. She came up behind him and said, ?Heero? I?m so sorry for all of this.? After that, Heero didn?t know what to say. He just looked at Relena with a blank look on his face. Relena didn?t know what he was thinking. He probably hated her for everything that happened to him. Heero sighed and said, ?Its ok Relena. It?s been a hard day, hasn?t it?? ?Ya? it has.? Heero hugged her and kissed her on the cheek reassuring her that everything was ok. Heero stepped back and Relena looked at him thinking for a second. She stepped up to him and kissed him on the lips for a second and stepped back herself. Relena looked at him wandering what he would do next. Heero walked up to her and kissed her again on the lips. They locked together and kissed passionately. They broke the kiss and looked at each other in a loving gaze. A new light seemed to form in the darkness that shined brighter than daylight. Heero ran his fingers through her hair and they kissed again? the light of their hearts got even brighter and everyone in the store felt their hearts soar? even though they didn?t realize what was going on. The two were truly in love? although it took long for the both of them to admit it? but they knew they loved each other. Relena broke kiss and said, ?I love you?? Heero looked her and said, ?And I love you as well?? Relena hugged him and held him close. She stepped back and smiled. Heero put his hand on her cheek and gave a little kiss. She walked away and back into the store where she joined the others.
She sat close to Noin and Sally. Wufei and the others kept on talking about how things were going. Relena sat back against the rack daydreaming. That was a moment she would treasure for the rest of her life.
Quatre stood ready to throw to explosives in. Johnathen called from below shouting, ?Quatre? its time!? Dorothy stood and watched Quatre get ready to throw the explosives into the core. She watched Quatre in all his glory of strength as he started to swing the ball of isolation suits three times his size and throw them into the core. He built up for one last throw and roared as he threw it into the core. He hit his control pad and got the heck out of there. The ball went down into the darkness of the chamber and disappeared for a few seconds. Quatre made it down to Dorothy and when he did, the sphere exploded. The entire room shook as the process began to take place. The power came on to surviving control panel and Johnathen closed the hatch and started the process. Through the tiny window, a light appeared. The generators began working again and the power was restored?
Catherine had finally found the lantern and walked out to the middle. She called for everyone to come to the middle. Trowa sighed and said, ?You were a little late?? ?Why?? Trowa motioned up and Catherine saw what Trowa was pointing at. She smiled and said, ?Great, now we can start the dagger act all over again.? For a brief moment in time, Trowa had a hint of fear on his face after going through the black out. Trowa sighed even deeper and said, ?Ok? let?s get on with the show.?
Relena laid back watching the ceiling. Heero walked in and sat next to her. He looked at everybody else who was apologetic towards Heero. Duo said, ?Heero? I?m sorry for that? do you forgive me?? Heero smiled and said, ?Ya I forgive you? for now.? ?Great? uh oh?? Zechs says, ?What?s the matter?? ?The candles are going out.? Sally and Noin walked in to see the candles and said, ?Oh no!? Heero stood up and said, ?Relena? can you help me find some candles?? Relena just watched the ceiling smiling and relaxed sitting there. Heero put his hand her shoulder and said, ?Relena? are you ok?? She smiled at him and said, ?I?m fine? look.? Heero looked up? seeing the store light lit and getting brighter. Duo walked up to Heero and said, ?Heero! Will you stop being so obsessed with Relena and help us find candles.? Heero points up at the light and Duo looks up. He shouts and starts jumping for joy. He ran out and told everybody and they were excited as well. Heero and Relena looked at each other and kissed again. They seemed to help the light grow faster as their love shined brighter every second. A few of the lights went into to sparks. Time slowed down as they kissed and the sparks slowly fell to the ground. Each bright spark displayed a fraction of the light coming off from them.
Wufei watched the other store lights get to their brightest. The others ran to the beach and danced around happy for the light. The colony began to awaken and the lights were turning on all over the city. Among the black masses in space, a light begins to shine.
Heero and Relena broke kiss. They knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives to together and that they loved each other. They walked out to the newly lit colony and Heero said, ?Looks like it?s going to be a beautiful day.? Relena looks at him and smiles saying, ?Lets go home? to our home.? Heero and Relena walked off back home while the others continued running around like idiots screaming. Duo stopped and watched Heero and Relena walk off into the sunrise, arms around each other. It was so cute? Duo smiled and said to himself, ?Must have been the shirt.? Duo started chuckling? his chuckling turned to laughing. Duo?s laughing echoed into the distance and Heero and Relena heard it. They looked at Duo and then looked at each other. They smiled, and kissed, and walked on home. The scene faded with the two walking down the road and into a new future?

Prelude?
The year is After Colony 198? Earth was looking more beautiful than ever in the light of peace. The colonies shimmer like the stars in the sky as they display the beauty of life in space. But then? one of the colonies in its cluster slowly dimmed until it went pitch black. A few minutes later? two more colonies dim out of sight and go pitch black as well. Soon? the entire cluster has vanished in space. The lights of the colonies have completely failed and the people of those colonies are now in the dark?
Chapter 1?
Wufei, Sally, Noin, and Zechs and are having a little R&R on the beach. Noin and Sally were talking about girl stuff. They had dragged Wufei with them to try to get him enjoy himself once in a while. Only Wufei could actually make the vacation worse for the girls. Zechs had been gone for quite a while and Noin was starting to get a little worried. They started talking about what married life was like and the ups and downs of it.
Zechs wanted a little entertainment. He stood on the sidewalk with the food waiting for Wufei to start something. He knew that brat would make some sarcastic remark and the girls would beat him up.
Outside the colony? Quatre was approaching with Dorothy and his ship was lining up with the guide-beacons. Quatre got on the com-panel and said, ?This is Quatre in shuttle 7732? request permission to dock?? A voice over the speaker saying, ?Rodger Quatre? you are clear to dock, and welcome to the colony.? ?Thank you control? Quatre out.?
Trowa was getting ready for his next circus act. He walked by, patted the elephants, fed the lions and tigers, and gave a banana to addition to the family? the chimp named Ally Op. Ally always teased Trowa. Catherine enjoyed sending Trowa to feed him because Ally would always go for his hair. She knew that Trowa would be to quick for Ally so she always distracted him. So like usual? Trowa got the banana and sighed. He walked up to Ally and said, ?Here you go Ally, no pulling hair ok?? Ally? who was hanging from the cage bars shook his head up and down saying yes. Trowa handed Ally the banana and at that moment, Catherine walked in and said, ?Trowa? I think you forgot something.? Trowa turned to look at her and said, ?What is it?? When Trowa turned his head? he felt a tap tap tap on his shoulder. He looked at Ally who gave great big smile and grabbed his hair. Ally yanked Trowa against the cage shaking him violently and Trowa yelled, ?Catherine! Help!? Catherine pulled him free and Trowa striated his hair asking, ?What did I forget?? Catherine said, ?I guess it can wait till later.? She walked away and Trowa just stared at her in confusion? then he realized what she did and rolled his eyes.
Duo and Hilde headed to the park for a picnic and enjoy the scenery. Hilde trotted gracefully to the spot and eloquently put the blanket on the ground. The cool wind blew in her face as the breeze carried through the colony. In her radiant beauty she looks over at Duo lugging the huge picnic basket and says, ?Duo! Come on? you?re wasting precious daylight.? Duo made it to the mat and said, ?Well Hilde? it might be easy if you helped.? ?You need to put some hair on you?re chest anyway. You keep this up and you might actually grow a few.? Duo raised his eyebrow and said, ?How would you know that I have any?? ?I remembered what I saw when I went looking for you.? Duo?s eyes widened and he said, ?You remember that? That was six months ago? man? and I was just getting over that.? ?If you had answered me when I called? I wouldn?t have walked into the bathroom.? ?Ok ok? why don?t we get this picnic started.? ?Good idea? hansom.? Duo?s eyes widened and he sat down and said, ?Can we please just get this started?? Hilde smiled and said, ?Ok? lets eat.? Duo opened the basket and the two began their picnic.
Relena was restless? she was getting bored while everybody else was doing something fun? without her? She walked into the living room and picked up the phone. She had an idea on what to do, but she needed an excuse for it to work. An idea came to her mind but she would have to wait an hour.
Chapter 2?
In the dark? deep in the core of the colony? little lights of the worker?s area show the size of the core. In the work area? workers are working at ease unaware of an approaching danger. A worker from the observation room runs to the chief engineer with a scary report. Rachel Anderson ran from the bright hallways into the dimly lit core labor section. She ran to Johnathen Malkeir who was monitoring the core. She got to his work station and said, ?John? we have a problem?? He looked at her and said, ?What is it?? ?The entire L1 colony cluster is out of power.? ?What? How did that happen?? ?That?s the bad news? an interstellar storm is sweeping through this system. The storm is giving off powerful electro-magnetic discharges. Its is huge? it?ll sweep through this entire cluster and every electrical system will cascade.? ?Is there any way we can avoid it?? ?No. Its gets worse? Earth?s magnetosphere is causing the storm?s speed to increase. An e.t.a. on the storm is two hours.? ?Get everybody ready.? ?Yes sir.?
Forty-five minutes have passed and it seemed like the clock was ticking backwards. Relena sat on the couch in the middle of the big living room with a dead stare on the clock. Finally? the little hand hit seven and Relena had the phone in her hand before she knew she picked it up. She dialed the number and held the phone close waiting for the slightest sound.
In his apartment? Heero was under the sink fixing the worthless plumbing. He was tightening some joint that some idiot didn?t tighten. He was using all his might tightening that joint. Just then he heard the phone ring and let go of wrench to get up. When he did? the wrench fell off the joint and landed on his head. He grunted and got out of the sink. He ran to the phone and picked it up. Heero said, ?Who is it??
?Its Relena? what are you doing for dinner??
?I don?t know. I haven?t made plans yet.?
?Would you like to come over to my house to eat??
?Why??
?Because I?m bored! Now come on over here? please??
Heero raised his eyebrow? he didn?t know what had got into Relena. She might be having problems so he said, ?Ok? I?ll be there in a little bit.?
?Good? I?ll see you in a little bit.?
Heero hung up the phone and said, ?I hope she?s ok.?
A few minutes later, Heero arrived. Relena opened the doors to see that he only put on his casual clothes. Relena thought to herself, ?Either he doesn?t know what nice clothes mean, or that?s the kind of cloths he?s got at all.? Relena herself had worn moderate clothes? she didn?t want to be extravagant. Relena stepped aside and said, ?Come on in.? Heero said, ?Thanks?? and walked in. Relena lead Heero into the dining room where the chefs had prepared a meal. Heero sat down to the table and looked at the food. He kind of looked it over and asked Relena, ?What is this?? Relena sat down to the table and said, ?Its caviar.? Heero just looked at it and said, ?Is it alive?? Relena started to eat and said, ?No? haven?t you ever eaten caviar before?? Heero leaned back a little and said, ?I?ve never heard of it.? Relena looks at him and said, ?Well try it and see what you think.? So Heero sampled a bite? He got the urge to vomit? his gagging reflex kicked into overdrive as the ?taste?? went down his throat. Heero managed to hide it all until Relena asked, ?Heero? you?re pale? are you ok.? Heero gripped his neck and said, ?I?m? ok I? just got a frog? in my throat?? ?Do you need a glass of water?? ?Yes please.? Relena walked out of the room towards the kitchen. Heero swallowed hard while his taste buds screamed to him, ?Heero! You stupid idiot! Why on Earth did you try to kill yourself!? Relena brought the glass of water and Heero drank it calmly. She picked up the glass and took it back to the kitchen. Heero shook the feeling of shook off and continued eating? something else.
Noin and Sally continued their conversation going into old age and insurance. They got wrapped up in the joy of gracefully aging. It was grand? Noin said, ?I hope to be wise when I get old. Wise woman make good roll models.? Sally said, ?Ya? but I also want to be drop dead beautiful just like I am now.? They relished the thought when the moment was broken by Wufei saying, ?Well maybe if you stop drowning yourselves with makeup then maybe you can salvage your looks and your brains.? Sally and Noin looked at him using the best Heero death glare they could do. Wufei sat and continued to read his book when two shadows came over him?
Quatre approached the port when a call came on the com channel. A voice said, ?This is docking bay three? respond, please.? Quatre said, ?This is Quatre? read you loud and clear.? ?Quatre? there is a interstellar storm approaching the colony. Can you return to your colony?? ?No, we can?t.? ?Alright? head for the emergency bay and shut down all power on the shuttle.? ?Understood? Quatre out.? Dorothy looked at Quatre and said, ?Do you know what an interstellar storm is?? ?I think it means its some kind of storm that moves through the galaxy.? ?I?ll try and see if I can scan it.? ?Go ahead and do that, I?ll dock the ship.?
Trowa was getting ready for his first performance. The old dagger show? Catherine decided to take it easy on Trowa and threw the knives about four inches from his face. Trowa was just standing there? enjoying the view. The crowd cheered for them as Catherine moved to three inches closer. Trowa still just stood there pretty much with a blank look on his face.
Duo was starting to enjoy this picnic? it had got to the good part. Duo sat in front of the beach watching the waves while Hilde snuggled under his arm. Hilde looked up at Duo and said, ?Duo? what are your plans for the future?? Duo thought for a minute and said, ?Well??
Relena and Heero? finished eating and got up from the table. On her way out? Relena cracked her knee on the chair and fell to the floor. Heero ran around the table to help her. She struggled to her feet unable to hide a little smirk that her little plan had worked. Heero helped her up and said, ?Are you ok?? She looked at him and said, ?Ya? I?m ok. Could you take me to my room so I can lay down.? Heero helped her up the stairs and into her bedroom. He laid her on the bed and said, ?Are you ok?? She groaned, ?Ya? thanks? that really hurt.? Heero said, ?I don?t think you broke anything? I?ll see myself out then? goodnight Relena.? Relena sat up and said, ?Wait? why don?t you stay? keep me company. We could still talk for a while.? Heero was still wandering if she was ?ok?, but she seemed fine. Heero sat down with her and they started talking?
Chapter 3?
Zechs was cracking up watching Wufei make dust storms across the beach. He had almost escaped the two rampaging bulls when he tripped on a rock in the sand. Sally put Wufei in a headlock while Noin had his leg and was twisting his ankle. Wufei shouted through the pain saying, ?I won?t take it back!? Hearing that, Noin twisted harder causing Wufei to scream in agony. Just then Zechs walked in and said, ?Hey guys I got the food.? Sally looked at Noin to see what she thought. Noin nodded her head and they let go of Wufei. He gasped for air while the girls started eating. Sally turned to Wufei and said, ?Why don?t you join us?? Wufei just looked at them with a stare of confusion.
Rachel Anderson watched the monitors carefully following the storm. The screen remain unchanged until she something else showing up on the screen. Solar winds were coming in behind the storm and they were much faster. Rachel got on the intercom and called Johnathen. He came on the screen and said, ?What is it?? ?John, what?s your status on the core?? ?We?re getting ready to shut the core down in five minutes.? ?Forget that and initiate emergency core shutdown!? ?Why?? ?Solar winds are pushing the storm much faster and will hit the colony in three minutes!? ?We can?t shut the core down in that time.? ?Find a way or this colony is going to be nothing but debris in space!? ?Rodger!? John got off the intercom and ran towards the core. He said, ?Everybody? evacuate now! Jonas, open the vents? we?ll have to drain the energy.? ?If we drain the energy, the core won?t be able to recharge!? ?We don?t have time, now do it!? Rachel came over the announcer and said, ?The winds will hit the storm in two minutes and thirty seconds!? Jonas pushed the controls and said, ?Initiating core venting!?
Outside? Quatre?s shuttle was approaching the docks. Quatre began positioning the shuttle and said, ?Dorothy? what are the sensors telling you about the storms?? Dorothy didn?t respond? she just stared out the window with a terrified look on her face. Quatre looked out the window to see a massive, overwhelming, violent storm coming in fast.
Catherine got ready to throw her last dagger and was aiming right next to his mask?
Duo looked at Hilde and said, ?Hilde? what are your plans for the future?? Hilde looked at the waves and went, ?Hmm??
Heero was getting more comfortable sitting in bed with Relena. Relena paused for a minute thinking and said, ?Heero? what are your plans for the future?? Heero just looked at her with blank look on his face.
Chapter 4?
The colony began rumbling and Jonas and John grabbed the rail bars. Jonas supported himself on the consol and looked at it. John said, ?Is it working?? ?Yes? there will be a little energy left, but not enough to damage the colony!? ?Good!?
Dorothy watched the storm come while Quatre worked the controls. Quatre said, ?I?ve managed to dock the shuttle. We?re going to have to dump the core? we can?t shut it down in time.? Dorothy opened a lid, pulled a lever, and said, ?Core ejected!?
The food flew in the air and everybody fell to the ground. They got together and held onto each other.
Catherine threw the dagger? just as her hand released, a force knocked her aim off sending the dagger strait for Trowa?s face. Trowa saw this coming and started to move to the side.
The force began to shake Duo around? he grabbed Hilde and held her close as the rumbling got worse.
The rumbling took Heero by surprise and knocked him of the bed. Relena gripped the bed and Heero tried to get back up.
Jonas said, ?Brace for impact!?
The storm hit the colony?
Small bolts of lightning streamed over the whole colony and Quatre?s shuttle. The lights began dimming as the storm roared through the cluster. Every colony?s lights began to flicker as the entire cluster begins to dim into space.
The enormous room of the core lit up with lightning bolts going all around. Jonas screams through the noise, ?All the core?s energy is drained! I?ve just gotta close the vents!? John looked at his own consol witch exploded into sparks. He looked at Jonas and said, ?Jonas? the console?s cascading! Get away from there!? ?I?m almost done!? Jonas? consol exploded in his face injuring him. John ran out of the room carrying Jonas and closed the door? Jonas was successful in closing the vents and there was no more danger to the colony.
The storm had passed and the rumbling on the colony stopped. The power on the colony was out and it was going to stay that way?
Chapter 5?
Wufei and the others got up. While getting up, he slipped on the same rock and fell to the ground. Wufei stood up again and felt around for the others. He felt? something? and held it. In a serious tone, Sally said, ?Wufei?? ?Ya?? ?You found me?? Wufei quickly realized what he got a hold of and let go. Wufei found her hand and held on to it. Zechs said, ?I guess the power?s out. There?s a store that sells candles just up the beach. Noin asked, ?How do we get there?? Wufei used his fine tuned hearing and said, ?Follow me.? He guided the others away from the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.
Quatre and Dorothy got up and looked outside only to see a black mass in space. Quatre looked at Dorothy and said, ?Are you ok?? Dorothy nodded her head and said, ?Ya? let?s get out of here.? ?Right.? Quatre and Dorothy floated up and started opening the door.
Even though the stage lights are off, the luminescent beads of light made figures in the dark visible. Catherine called to the crowd and said, ?Everybody don?t panic. We are dealing with the situation. Stay calm and stay seated.? She starts to walk to Trowa when a man from the crowd yells, ?Is this some act?? Catherine yells back, ?No? Stay calm. This is no act.? She turns again to walk to Trowa when another man shouts, ?What kind of circus is this? Get on with the show.? Catherine looks up at him and says, ?If you don?t like it? you can wonder in the dark out there.? The crowd stayed silent and Catherine started turning when a hand touched her shoulder. Catherine said, ?Who is it?? The calming voice of Trowa replied, ?It?s Trowa.? Catherine smiled and said, ?Ok? let?s take care of this problem.? ?I?ll take care of the crowd.? Catherine said with a sarcastic tone, ?Right? I?ll get the boxing gloves.?
Heero stood up in the dark. He couldn?t see anything? he had no clue as to what happened, but that won?t stop him. He says, ?Relena? do you have a flashlight somewhere?? ?Yes? its in the kitchen. Its in the first shelf when you walk in.? ?Good? where is the stairs?? Relena sat up and said, ?Do you feel the side of the bed?? Heero felt for the corner of the bed and stood up. Heero said, ?Yes? I feel the side of the bed.? ?Ok? take twenty paces strait forward, turn left, fifty paces, and you?ll find the stairs.? Heero started to walk off and Relena got out of bed. Heero turned left and walked fifty paces. He felt around and said, ?Relena? I can?t find the stairs.? Relena came to the hall and said, ?Take five more.? Heero counted? fifty-one? fifty-two? fifty-three? Relena started to walk down the hall when she heard a thudding on the stairs. The thudding turned to crashing and continued for a few seconds followed by the breaking of wood furniture, the ripping of cloths, the breaking of large glass, and a very weak inhale? Relena walked to the edge of the stairs and said, ?Heero are you ok?? ?I?m? fine?? Relena slowly made her way down stairs when a light came from the living room. Heero had found the flashlight and lead Relena to him. She came up to him and said, ?Heero are you ok?? Heero again replied, ?I?m fine.? Relena looked at his tank top half ripped apart. Relena gasped and said, ?Are you hurt?? ?No. I?m fine.? ?Your shirt is torn apart? how did that happen?? ?A piece of furniture caught it.? ?Give the me flashlight and wait here? ok?? ?Ok??
Relena made her way back to the bedroom and to her dresser. She opened her shelf and looked for something fitting Heero?s liking. She came back down with the sweeter still folded and handed it to him. Heero turned around and ripped his tank top off and put on the sweeter. He turned around and Relena almost died with laughter as she saw Heero in all his glory wearing that sweeter. The sweeter was fuzzy white with a cute yellow bunny rabbit with button eyes. An inscription under the rabbit said, ?I LOVE YOU? Heero didn?t have a gun so he couldn?t kill this horrid creature that had attached itself to his body. Heero just kinda stood there? his mind went blank? the walls of his faculties were caving in. Relena broke his trance and said, ?We better get power.? Heero said, ?Sure? ok? fine.? They started to walk to the door when the flashlight started to flicker. Relena looked at the flashlight and said, ?Strange? those batteries should be fresh.? Heero noticed that the flashlight was getting hotter and threw to the other side of the room saying, ?Relena! Get down!? They both ducked and the flashlight exploded to bits. They stood up and Relena said, ?Great, how are we going to get light now?? Heero said, ?We could make a fire out of broken furniture and put in the living room.? With such big and vast house, Relena never put in a fireplace. ?Are you sure we could do that?? ?The room is big enough for a parade. How could it not be big enough?? Relena made the mistake that Heero was a tough guy and said, ?Aw Heero,? and hit him in shoulder with all her might. Unfortunately? Heero was turning towards her? All Relena heard was a CRACK? and a thud on the floor. There was nothing but silence and Relena said, ?Heero???
When Wufei reached the sidewalk, he again tripped on the edge and fell down. He shook off the headache and said, ?I found the sidewalk.? Noin said, ?Yes? I can see that.? Sally said, ?How?s that possible?? Noin thought for a minute and said, ?Hmm? good question.? They walked across the street and found the store with the candles. They lit the candles and stood watch for anyone who might see the light and need help. A little while later, Duo and Hilde came bringing the food.
Quatre and Dorothy made their way down the hall trying to use the access panels, but they were all offline. They made their way to the observation room where Rachel was sleeping in her chair. Quatre floated up to her and said, ?Are you ok?? She woke up and saw the lights. She shouted, ?Turn those lights off now and get rid of them!? They threw them away and a minute later? they exploded. ?My name is Rachel. I?m chief observations officer here on the colony.? ?My name is Quatre and this is Dorothy here with me. We were on our way to visit our friends.? ?Do you have technical expertise?? ?Ya? what happened here? What was that interstellar storm?? ?There was an a E.M. discharge in the core while we were deactivating it. All the electrical systems are offline and the core can?t recharge. The discharge was caused by the storm that was loaded with it. Solar winds pushed the storm faster towards and taking us by surprise.? ?I never knew this kind of thing existed.? ?Neither did we. This is the first spacial anomaly we have ever encountered. It probably won?t appear again for millions of years.? Dorothy said, ?Great? at lest we won?t have to deal with this again.?
Relena knelt down and was trying to wake Heero. She pushed him around saying, ?Heero? Heero wake up!? Relena heard a light groan and said, ?Heero? are you ok?? Heero just said, ?I?m fine.? They both stood up and Heero said, ?We need to find a way to get light.? ?I know, but how?? ?Do you have candles?? ?Ya, but I don?t have matches? the candles are only decretive.? ?Let?s head to the front door.? ?? Where?s the front door?? Heero began walking around feeling for the handle. Heero walked strait forward looking for a wall to follow. He found a wall and just as he started to follow it, he ran into something that hit him below the belt. Relena stood still. She didn?t want to trip in the dark? all she heard was a deep inhaling. Relena tried to follow the sound and said, ?Heero? Heero are you ok?? A weakened voice barely recognizable replied, ?I?m fine? I found? the door.? ?Great? I?ll wait till you open it.? Heero opened the door and there was no light. Relena was puzzled? was the entire colony out of power? Relena felt her way towards Heero until she found a hand. Relena held onto Heero and said, ?How are we going to find our way?? Heero looked around and said, ?I don?t know.? Relena looked around and caught a tiny light in the distance. Relena pulled Heero?s arm and said, ?Heero? I see a light!? ?Its probably a candle? lets hurry? it might go out.? ?Right.? Heero and Relena started running towards the light when something occurred to Relena. Relena slowed down a little and said, ?Heero? I think we need to stop.? Heero said in confusion, ?Why?? CRASH? Relena stopped and leaned over Heero hearing the violent vibrations of the decretive steel bars she used as a fence. ?Heero! Are you ok?? Heero groaned, ?I?m? fine?? and then collapsed.
Chapter 6?
Down in the core. The men were using luminescent lights while running around trying to get the core activated. It was a lost cause; the whole thing had to be started with some energy. The process couldn?t be started manually and support was busy repairing colonies that were more seriously damaged. The storm knocked out power in three colony clusters and several outposts the were set up along the storm path. Quatre and Johnathen were working on the core while Dorothy and Rachel tended the wounded. The tall and strong man Jonas had been seriously injured and Dorothy could only do so much for him. He lay on the floor unconscious? his dark brown hair and hazel eyes caught Dorothy?s attention. She sat on the floor trying to make him comfortable. Jonas finally woke and looked around. He saw Dorothy and said, ?Are you a doctor?? Dorothy looked down saddened by Jonas? question and answering, ?No?? Jonas looked at her and said, ?Do I need a doctor?? Dorothy looked up at him and said, ?From what I can tell? you have internal bleeding and your tailbone is fractured. Your spinal cord is in tact, but you won?t be able to move until you can get help. You?ll have to stay here while I take care of the others.? ?Alright? thank you.? Dorothy walked off and tended another patient. She was sad because this man was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the colony. She sat down caught in the drama. The massive muscles on the guy?s arms replaced her thoughts of heroism. She began to map every curve on his arm? working her way to his chest and down his stomach? to his? Her thoughts were stopped dead in their tracks when Rachel came up to her and said, ?Dorothy? why are you drooling?? She broke her trance and said, ?Huh?? ?There is drool running down your mouth.? Dorothy wiped her sleeve and said, ?How did that happen?? ?Maybe it had something to do with the big drunken smile you had on your face.? ?I didn?t realize I was even smiling.? Rachel laughed loudly and said, ?You?ve obviously met Jonas!? Dorothy?s mind said, ?Oh shit? Quatre!? She quickly shoveled the thought under the rug and put her attention on Quatre and wondered what it would be like to do Quatre? She became depressed because Quatre was so scrawny.
Quatre and Johnathen were standing by the core trying to find a way to recharge the core. Johnathen read the report and looked up at Quatre. She sighed deeply and said, ?The news isn?t good. The protected core that was supposed have enough reserve energy to restart the main generator was totally destroyed.? ?I thought the core was designed to resist E.M. discharges?? ?Not one of this magnitude? that discharge alone was powerful enough to fuel the human race with energy for a week. The outer hull of the colony protected us from most of the blast, but when it got into the core room?? ?Isn?t this room air sealed?? ?The energy melted a little of the seals, we got it repaired. What got into the room was a small fraction of what was outside.? ?Maybe there?s a way to get energy back to the core.? ?How?? ?If we got enough explosives into the main generator and detonate them? we could get the energy to recharge the core and get it functional again.? ?The protected and auxiliary cores have been destroyed. The only way we could do that is if we put the explosive in the main core. The radiation would kill a human in seconds. Not even isolation suits could keep you alive long enough to get the device inside. And even if we could, the radiation would cause the explosives to go off.? ?What if we rapped the device in isolation suits?? ?It might last ten seconds before going off.? ?That?s all the time we?ll need.? ?Also? we would need the equivalent of a five thousand pound bomb to get the core started.? ?Then we better get started. We don?t any other choice.? ?Ya? your right? alright guys! Lets go!?
Everybody had huddled together in the store. There was nothing they could do at the moment. All they could do is wait. It was Zechs? and Noin?s shift to watch for people and they were standing outside the door with the candles to show the way. Zechs saw a figure come into view. It looked like someone was carrying someone else. He saw? Relena? and she was carrying? Heero. Zechs stood up and said, ?Oh my?? Noin looked around and said, ?Jesus!? Relena was struggling to carry on and Zechs rushed in and grabbed Heero. Heero had a huge bruise across his face and Noin gasped at the side of it.
Zechs carried Heero in still unconscious. Duo jumped to his feet and said, ?What happened to him!?? Zechs laid Heero down next to the fire. Relena was stunned by the bruise on Heero?s face and didn?t realize that Duo was shaking her around. Duo stepped in front of her view and said, ?Relena!? Relena jolted away from Duo and slapped his shoulder saying, ?Duo! Don?t scare me like that!? ?Well answer me! What happened to Heero?? Relena looked down at Heero and said, ?I don?t know. We were running when Heero ran into something.? Quatre said, ?Did he run into a tree?? Trowa cut in saying, ?No. There are no splinters on his face.? ?I heard a metal bar vibrating.? The guys were getting frustrated with Heero?s injuries. This situation was stressful enough without this. Wufei came in from the watch and said, ?Did you do this to Heero? Relena?? That sent the tension level right through the roof. Everybody started arguing about it while Zechs tried to calm them down. The fight was getting intense when Heero?s voice broke the air and said, ?Everybody quiet!? Suddenly? the room was silent. He sat up and said, ?We have more important things to worry about right now!? Everyone still remained quiet. Heero?s last words were hanging in their minds. Duo said, ?Heero? are you ok?? Heero said, ?Yes Relena, I?m fine.? Duo raised an eyebrow and said, ?Relena?? Heero said, ?Duo? yes? Duo? I?m fine.? Everyone started to calm down after that. When it settled? Noin noticed something? deferent? about Heero. She looked his sweeter over and saw what was different. She couldn?t help bust burst out in laughter and the site of Heero wearing? ?I LOVE YOU? on his body. Zechs said, ?What?s wrong?? Noin tried to control herself and said, ?His? his? Heero?s? SHIRT!? Noin held in her gut a she laughed her heart out. Duo started next saying, ?Did you forget your tank top?? Everybody started cracking? even Wufei. Everybody cried laughing except Zechs who was wondering why Heero was wearing his sister?s shirt. Heero was really getting irritated with this and shouted, ?Everybody? SHUTUP!? The laughing stopped instantly and Heero left the store. He ran out into the darkness where he tried to get a minute to think.
This had been a stressful day for Heero. All he was going to do was fix the damn plumbing and have Mario?s pizza. Instead? he?s wandering in the dark, his whole face and front body are aching, his favorite shirt?s been ripped, and to top it off? he?s been humiliated in front of everybody. It was all Relena?s fault. He felt like killing her again, but he knew that was impossible. He was trying to figure out what to do when Zechs came out and touched his shoulder. Zechs calmly said, ?I?m sorry for what happened there. Can I ask you a question?? ?Is it about the shirt?? ?How did you get it on?? ?Your wandering if I was sleeping with Relena? I wasn?t?? That answered Zechs questions. Zechs said, ?What happened to you Heero?? ?I ran into Relena?s fencing? maybe it be better if you went back inside.? Zechs respected his wishes and went back inside.
Quatre had got the explosives to make one really nice bang and they were wrapping the bombs in isolation suits. They would only have one try to do this. They also had to wait the residual E.M. field to clear or else the core would explode. Quatre floated above the core where he prepared to throw the bombs in.
Zechs walked in and sighed deeply. That was a very stressful situation he was in. Relena stood up and said, ?Is Heero? ok?? Zechs got agitated with her and said, ?Why don?t you go and see.? Relena glared at him and said, ?Fine? I will.? She walked out the door towards Heero. Zechs sat down and glared at everybody who all had guilty looks on their faces.
Relena walked outside to Heero. She came up behind him and said, ?Heero? I?m so sorry for all of this.? After that, Heero didn?t know what to say. He just looked at Relena with a blank look on his face. Relena didn?t know what he was thinking. He probably hated her for everything that happened to him. Heero sighed and said, ?Its ok Relena. It?s been a hard day, hasn?t it?? ?Ya? it has.? Heero hugged her and kissed her on the cheek reassuring her that everything was ok. Heero stepped back and Relena looked at him thinking for a second. She stepped up to him and kissed him on the lips for a second and stepped back herself. Relena looked at him wandering what he would do next. Heero walked up to her and kissed her again on the lips. They locked together and kissed passionately. They broke the kiss and looked at each other in a loving gaze. A new light seemed to form in the darkness that shined brighter than daylight. Heero ran his fingers through her hair and they kissed again? the light of their hearts got even brighter and everyone in the store felt their hearts soar? even though they didn?t realize what was going on. The two were truly in love? although it took long for the both of them to admit it? but they knew they loved each other. Relena broke kiss and said, ?I love you?? Heero looked her and said, ?And I love you as well?? Relena hugged him and held him close. She stepped back and smiled. Heero put his hand on her cheek and gave a little kiss. She walked away and back into the store where she joined the others.
She sat close to Noin and Sally. Wufei and the others kept on talking about how things were going. Relena sat back against the rack daydreaming. That was a moment she would treasure for the rest of her life.
Quatre stood ready to throw to explosives in. Johnathen called from below shouting, ?Quatre? its time!? Dorothy stood and watched Quatre get ready to throw the explosives into the core. She watched Quatre in all his glory of strength as he started to swing the ball of isolation suits three times his size and throw them into the core. He built up for one last throw and roared as he threw it into the core. He hit his control pad and got the heck out of there. The ball went down into the darkness of the chamber and disappeared for a few seconds. Quatre made it down to Dorothy and when he did, the sphere exploded. The entire room shook as the process began to take place. The power came on to surviving control panel and Johnathen closed the hatch and started the process. Through the tiny window, a light appeared. The generators began working again and the power was restored?
Catherine had finally found the lantern and walked out to the middle. She called for everyone to come to the middle. Trowa sighed and said, ?You were a little late?? ?Why?? Trowa motioned up and Catherine saw what Trowa was pointing at. She smiled and said, ?Great, now we can start the dagger act all over again.? For a brief moment in time, Trowa had a hint of fear on his face after going through the black out. Trowa sighed even deeper and said, ?Ok? let?s get on with the show.?
Relena laid back watching the ceiling. Heero walked in and sat next to her. He looked at everybody else who was apologetic towards Heero. Duo said, ?Heero? I?m sorry for that? do you forgive me?? Heero smiled and said, ?Ya I forgive you? for now.? ?Great? uh oh?? Zechs says, ?What?s the matter?? ?The candles are going out.? Sally and Noin walked in to see the candles and said, ?Oh no!? Heero stood up and said, ?Relena? can you help me find some candles?? Relena just watched the ceiling smiling and relaxed sitting there. Heero put his hand her shoulder and said, ?Relena? are you ok?? She smiled at him and said, ?I?m fine? look.? Heero looked up? seeing the store light lit and getting brighter. Duo walked up to Heero and said, ?Heero! Will you stop being so obsessed with Relena and help us find candles.? Heero points up at the light and Duo looks up. He shouts and starts jumping for joy. He ran out and told everybody and they were excited as well. Heero and Relena looked at each other and kissed again. They seemed to help the light grow faster as their love shined brighter every second. A few of the lights went into to sparks. Time slowed down as they kissed and the sparks slowly fell to the ground. Each bright spark displayed a fraction of the light coming off from them.
Wufei watched the other store lights get to their brightest. The others ran to the beach and danced around happy for the light. The colony began to awaken and the lights were turning on all over the city. Among the black masses in space, a light begins to shine.
Heero and Relena broke kiss. They knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives to together and that they loved each other. They walked out to the newly lit colony and Heero said, ?Looks like it?s going to be a beautiful day.? Relena looks at him and smiles saying, ?Lets go home? to our home.? Heero and Relena walked off back home while the others continued running around like idiots screaming. Duo stopped and watched Heero and Relena walk off into the sunrise, arms around each other. It was so cute? Duo smiled and said to himself, ?Must have been the shirt.? Duo started chuckling? his chuckling turned to laughing. Duo?s laughing echoed into the distance and Heero and Relena heard it. They looked at Duo and then looked at each other. They smiled, and kissed, and walked on home. The scene faded with the two walking down the road and into a new future?
