Today was that long-awaited day. The fateful day that would spell out entire lives of men and women alike. The young cadets sat in their seats, straight and tense, wondering if they would go to earth or to space, and a few fervently prayed to not spend the next fifty years in boot camp.
Zechs looked down at his results paper, afraid to turn it over. He looked across the aisle to Noin. "Well?" she asked. "You're not afraid, are you?"
He shook his head, and flipped over his paper.

Their scores differed by scarcely five points. He knew she was smart, even smarter than him. Had she done it on purpose? He couldn't, and wouldn't, ask. And he would never know.
