Defeating Denial
An AxI Hellsing fic

Disclaimer: I do not own Hellsing, or any of its characters...although I really wish I had a pet vampire of my own.
Fic Rating: Probably PG-13, but if I was being on the safe side, R. Mainly for language and sexual references/situations. Nothing lemony, though.

~*Part 2*~

FEBRUARY 2

Integral could feel the chill on the back of her neck before she even had to turn around to see her vampire?s head sticking out from the ceiling.

?I did not call you. Why are you here??

?You dispatched my police woman an hour ago,? Alucard began, drifting slowly to the floor. ?Yet still I am not invited to join the fun. Why do you deny me??

?Victoria and her unit can handle a few brainless ghouls. You will stay here unless I order you otherwise,? Integral commanded.

Alucard?s eyes flared at his master?s words, but something suddenly made them flicker for an entirely different reason, and he smiled.

Integral shuffled through the paperwork on her desk, and finally sighed when it became apparent Alucard was going to sit there and stare at her all night if she didn?t acknowledge him. ?Was there anything else?? she asked curtly, looking up at him.

?The house seems incredibly quiet this evening, don?t you agree?? the vampire asked.

?Your point being??

?Where is Walter?? Alucard questioned, already knowing the answer, yet feeling in a playful mood.

?He is delivering an urgent report to the Queen that could not wait until morning,? Integral answered curtly.

?And the servants have already gone to their quarters,? Alucard?s voice seemed to have gotten softer, but Integral couldn?t be sure if it just wasn?t her tired mind playing tricks on her.

?Oh, you think I planned this little quiet time?? the blonde woman almost scoffed.

?I know you?ve been thinking of me. It is, after all, almost that day you look forward to oh so fondly, or should I say?night?? he purred.

?Alucard, please don?t remind me, I?m not in the mood,? Integral muttered, and began rummaging around her desk for a much-needed cigar. She was trying to forget about the fact that her birthday was a mere two days away.

?Each year, you stare at me a little longer, did you know that?? he continued to taunt her in his low, rough voice, leaning on her desk to bring his face down in front of her.

?Leave, Alucard,? Integral forced her words to remain calm.

?You can deny me all you want, my Master,? the vampire spoke, referring to earlier in their conversation, ?but I hate to see you deny yourself.? And with that, Alucard was gone.

~*~*~

Alucard sat in the depths of the Hellsing Mansion, an empty red wine bottle and glass decorating the wooden table his long legs were propped upon. Though his eyes were hidden from view by his colored glasses, the wicked smile stuck on his lips betrayed that his thoughts were worth the vampire?s doting upon.

It felt like a single drop of sand in an hourglass had fallen, as Alucard recollected Integral at nineteen. One particular vision swam through his head, of her slamming the door once again in his face, after he had come to her with the same birthday proposal as the year before. Although this time he was purposely without his trademark tie.

Each year, he would come?and his upper body would be slightly less clothed. A button undone here and there, until last year he again appeared outside her door with his shirt fully opened, his chest and torso exposed as he bowed.

Each year, his smile appeared larger, his eyes brighter, and his streams of laughter longer when she forcefully shut the door on him.

?I believe this is really getting old.? Integral had said to him on the last occasion, as he stood before her and waited. At least it was improvement from the time before, when she had come to meet him at the entrance of her room and slammed the door in his face without uttering a word, leaving him only with one hell of a glare.

?But I wonder, then, why you came to me. And before I even called to you.?

?Because you?ve been showing up at my door on my birthday for the past five years, and I find such satisfaction in slamming it on you.?

When his red eyes met the dark wood he had faced so many times before, Alucard had bellowed out laughter. ?So easy to train,? he whispered to himself. One day--he was certain--she would forget the door slam, and find her satisfaction with him instead.

~*~*~

Integral?s jacket lay on the floor of one of the mansion?s ancient training halls. The sound of heavy breathing echoed through the walls of the enormous room.

?Very good, Sir. But you must come at me with more force.? A man?s voice instructed, and she lunged at him again.

Sensitive vampire ears picked up this little rendezvous from miles away. Alucard had just finished sending another freak vampire bursting into dust as his silver bullet sliced through its pitiful body. Ghouls howled all around, but there was currently a far more important matter to attend to. Although the FREAK creators of the ?few brainless ghouls? his Master had spoken of earlier had finally made an appearance, Alucard?s streak of luck upon being let loose into the night was short lived. If his ears were hearing things correctly, that is.

Police woman, I trust you can finish off the rest? Alucard?s voice filled Seras?s mind, as she littered the living corpses before her with bullets.

?Wait, Master, where are you going?? Seras yelled above the gunshots, but Alucard had already gone.

~*~*~

?Crispin, I cannot thank you enough for agreeing to do this at such a late hour,? Integral huffed out the words, wiping the sweat formed from her previous actions with the back of her white oxford shirt sleeve.

?Anything to help her Lordship. Besides, I?ve missed our little t?te-?-t?tes.?

?As have I,? the blonde woman responded, trying to shake out the dampness of her once immaculate shirt. ?You must have noticed I?m a bit rusty.?

?You have done well for not picking up a sword in years.?

?I?ve just been under so much pressure lately. And fencing always helped me relieve my stress when we had trained when I was younger.?

?I understand completely. But really, do not hesitate to call me any time. We can resume our lessons, you know, if you feel it would help ease the stress of your job.?

?It was the organization that took away too much of my training time in the first place. As it is still as demanding as ever, I feel I must decline. Besides, I dislike the idea of attacking each other with sharp, pointy objects when a certain specter is in the house, if you know what I mean. Tonight, I?ve been surprisingly left alone.?

Crispin chuckled. ?Well, since it won?t be awhile until you pick up the sword again, why don?t we have another go??

?I?d like that,? Integral consented. It was still fairly early, and there was no sign of a mission report yet. Besides, just thinking of her approaching birthday and Alucard?s endless jests had caused some serious pent up frustration that could only been soothed with the clash of steel.

They had just taken their stances, when a chill filled the room.

?May I cut in?? The familiar voice boomed behind her, before Integral even had the chance to groan at his untimely, and most certainly calculated, entrance.

?We aren?t dancing, Alucard,? she spat.

?But it still seemed appropriate to say, given the swords.?

?Your sense of humor is still astonishingly bad for the centuries you?ve been given to come up with some good jokes.?

?Touch?,? Alucard said as laughter rumbled in his throat. His smile increased to its widest, the vampire?s glinting fangs exposed. ?You?re playful this evening, Miss Hellsing. Please, let me play with you.?

?You may go now, Crispin. I offer my thanks to you again. Perhaps we can finish this session another time.? Integral addressed her fencing instructor.

?Y-yes, your Lordship,? the man replied shakily as Alucard glowered at him from behind his Master. The vampire couldn?t resist snapping his jaw at him, as though taking a bite out of the air in the poor man?s direction, which caused Crispin, now visibly trembling, to quickly turn and exit the room.

?This is going to be great fun,? Alucard declared as he picked up the lance that Crispin had dropped upon seeing him. The vampire slowly circled around Integral, licking his lips in amusement. His coat and hat floated off him and down to the floor next to his master?s already discarded jacket.

Getting into position, he shrugged his shoulders in preparation for his fight. ?You know, I haven?t done this in a long time,? Alucard admitted. ?Perhaps not for a century or so. But I happened to be an excellent swordsman in my day. I wonder that you did not ask me to train you,? he questioned.

?I have still not consented to fighting with you,? Integral simply replied, her face betraying no emotion.

?Could it be that you are afraid?? Alucard?s mouth was once again tugged into a smile. ?I promise I will use no vampire powers for this match.?

?You?do not frighten me,? Integral answered, swishing her sword in front of her for effect.

?I would not want me to,? Alucard grinned, positively thrilled with the events now taking place.

?Come. Before I change my mind,? Integral ordered. And of course, her servant willingly obeyed.

Blades crashed as the two begin their match, the sound echoing through the night.

?Your defense is excellent, Master,? Alucard praised while attacking his opponent. ?Yet, truly, it would help for you to release some of your aggression. Your offense is severely lacking, but its potential is grand indeed.?

?If I had wanted a lesson,? Integral forced the words out while blocking his blows, ?I would have continued with Crispin.?

?That pathetic human isn?t worth your time. You?d excel far better if you?d trained with me,? the vampire bellowed, almost breaking Integral?s defenses.

The blonde woman let out the smallest smirk ?Jealous, are we?? And with that, she quickly regained her bearings, and delivered a blow that knocked Alucard?s tinted glasses right off his face.

The vampire?s now exposed eyes flared, and he predatorily advanced towards her. Integral found herself backing away, Alucard?s expression a mix of danger and amusement. He continued to slowly take his time, inching her back until Integral felt her last step hit the wall. He had forced her into a dead end, and now she wasn?t going to get out unless she attacked him. She almost let out a laugh at what her vampire was attempting to do. He never missed an opportunity to test her skills and make her stronger.

Two swords finally lashed out and met, and found themselves locked in a draw. Even with all her strength, Integral could feel her arms giving way to the more powerful pressure of Alucard. He was leaning ever so closer to her with each scrape of their lances vying for control, and the smile creeping over his face spoke fully of his enjoyment. He was teasing her.

The place where their swords were struggling was growing closer and closer to Integral?s cheek. The blonde pushed back at her opponent with all of her might, but still, her own sword was being forced towards her. Alucard?s steel had finally reached a point where it was about to force Integral?s lance to press into her skin, when his voice called out in her mind.

Stop now, he told her, surrender? or do you wish for blood?

Integral regarded him carefully. He would never hurt her, this she knew. But she would never back down from a fight, this he should have known. She then acted upon her decision before he could even have a chance to read her thoughts.

The Hellsing Lord moved forward quickly and with all her strength, disregarding the fiery sting of her own sword coming in contact with her cheek and then piercing its surface. Her vampire?s sword was withdrawn in surprise. Integral was certain he, on the other hand, would have a harder time disregarding the flow of blood trickling down her face.

Alucard?s eyes were immediately drawn to the liquid, mesmerized by the particular power this particular blood held over him. All it took was that momentarily lapse in his attention, before he felt a sharpness surge in his stomach. The vampire?s stare dropped down from his master?s cheek to look at her sword, now halfway imbedded in his flesh.

He looked up again, his eyes wildly meeting Integral?s cool and confidant ones. The proud smile that graced her lips, the sweat slicking her brow, her disheveled, golden locks falling haphazardly all around her?everything about her now tempted the vampire beyond his control.

He fixed his gaze on her hungrily, never breaking his stare as he gripped the base of her sword and dislodged it from his stomach in one rapid motion, tossing the weapon away. The shattering echo of metal meeting marble filled the training hall as Alucard seemed to flow towards his master purposefully.

Integral again found herself forced back and pinned to the wall, her vampire?s eyes more brilliant than ever as he slammed his hands on the walls behind her head, effectively trapping her between his tall form and cool stone.

Lord Hellsing had not seen the vampire this intense in a long time. In fact, the whole situation reminded her of their first meeting over ten years ago, when he had pinned her to the wall just like this and uttered words something along the lines of?

?Do you know how much I want you right now?? Alucard hissed in her ear, as he leaned down to close the small distance between them. ?My blood is burning for you.?

He pressed his body to hers brazenly, and she stiffened at the cold coming through his garments to assault her. Integral narrowed her eyes at him, ?Your blood is also ruining my shirt.?

?As is yours,? his whisper was pounding in her ears, as she alarmingly took note of how exactly close they were. Her cut must have been deeper than she first thought, and blood was dripping down her cheek and dribbled off of her chin to land on the shoulder of Alucard?s pristine white shirt.

?Alucard?? her voice held a tone of warning now, thus the vampire increased his own actions to fulfill his desires before she decided to stop his fun.

?Yes, Master?? his voice tickled her neck as he nuzzled his face in the crook of her shoulder. His cold lips just brushed the surface of her exposed skin, and she quickly inhaled a breath at the intimate contact.

Integral was about to order him to leave, until she thought another command more important. ?Get away from my neck, Alucard,? she was barely able to breathe, as her mind seemed to grow increasingly foggy and numb from the cold.

?As my Master wishes,? the vampire declared, and was thus forced to remove himself from her slightly. He was staring directly at her now, no more than an inch from her face, daring her to speak to him again. He moved an icy hand to her waist and slowly inched it up, waiting with amusement until she told him to stop.

?Damnit, Alucard,? Integral hissed. ?No spells?? she mumbled.

?My Master is under no spell of mine,? he whispered, his eyes flickering with the pleasure he received from her statement. He could hear her cursing at herself in her head. She had hoped her lack of protest was due to the infamous sleep vampires bestow on their victims, however, this time her clouded mind was simply a result of her own body?s consent to his alluring touch.

At this point, she noticed Alucard leaning to flick his tongue over his own shirt where her blood had clung to the fibers. A growl escaped him and his expression changed. Integral pulled herself together and looked straight into his eyes?burning blood red pierced into the very heart of her. Her heartbeat quickened and pumped her blood harder and faster. Another drop trickled down her wounded cheek, and Alucard licked his lips.

?Of all the humans, of all the times, your blood is the sweetest I?ve ever tasted.?

This was?exactly the vampire she had awoken. His hair seemed to grow longer now and ripple outwards. The air around them twisted and spun, and Integral turned her head a bit to shield herself from the gusts, which pulled at her shirt and caused her blonde locks to splay around them. Her fresh wound was now positioned conveniently in front of the vampire?s face, as if it were an offering.

Integral could sense the pulsing beat of his power?a dark and mysterious force far greater than any human?s understanding. She could feel his icy fingers curled under her chin to tilt her head up. Despite his fierce appearance, his touch was surprising delicate, and his movements taken with care.

How could she let him do this to her? As many times as Alucard reminded her of her strength, he also remained her only weakness.

Slowly, the vampire drew his head closer to hers. Starting at the base of her jaw, he licked upwards along the trail of her blood. Integral felt his tongue crushing against her skin, and the freezing fire at his touch as he devoured her. His fangs scraped along her cheek, but did not pierce it, as he moved up along her face until the cut ended just under her eye. Integral shut her eyes tightly, refusing to look anymore, refusing to believe this was happening?and she was doing nothing to stop it.

She had gone too far already?she had succumbed to his enchanted winds caressing her body, she had let him drink her blood, she had won their battle, but was now about to lose their continual war. The Hellsing family would be forever tainted with her lack of restraint, with her intimacy with the kind of demon she was sworn to defeat?with her pleasurable pain. And she felt so ashamed.

A sudden source of heat surrounded her, and Integral opened her eyes only to be met with an empty room. She hesitantly lifted a hand to the cut on her cheek. The wound had stopped bleeding, but it felt cold?like it lingered with an icy kiss. When she took her hand away, her fingers were wet, but not by blood. The Hellsing Lord slowly brought a fingertip to her lips, and a salty taste assaulted her senses.

I do not like the taste of tears? The phrase drifted sadly into her mind.

She had not even realized she had been crying, or for how long. Integral slumped down to the floor, and in a rare display, finished what she started.

Each year, he would come?and his upper body would be slightly less clothed. A button undone here and there, until last year he again appeared outside her door with his shirt fully opened, his chest and torso exposed as he bowed.

*slobberdroolthud* Yummmmm....such a sexy description of him, again, how could you NOT want that

The sword play between the two is something I could see them doing, especially since she feels this is her only way to release her aggression on him. The whole change of his character hit the spot when he saw her blood, gives me chills just thinking about him licking his way to the cut. :o Like the added touch in there with the tear, my heart went out to her in the end.
