Envy of Life


Envy. He envied her of everything she had, everything she had achieved. She understood. She understood her emotions and others' emotions. In that way she knew people. She knew things too. She knew herself.

He had never known himself, nor would he ever know himself.

He even envied her of her weaknesses and pain and longing and hatred. Everything of that he envied her.

Perhaps it was this ignorance that prompted his jealously and longing for her strength, life, her soul, her mind, her body, for her love.

And she knew of his envy.

That was why he loved her.
