How To Be A Lady: Prologue
**
The usually emotionless face was wide with horror--- eyes wide, face pale, Heero Yuy stood transfixed at the paper gripped in Duo?s hands.
He could feel his heart sinking, the beginning of sweat on his brow.
How could it--- this lone piece of paper--- ruin what might have been a good day.
The challenge, he knew, would be hard. Would push him to his limits. And if he passed, he would be accepted. He knew this.
But--- why in the world had the club leaders chosen this one?
Glancing away, he looked to Duo--- another of the possible candidates participating in the acceptance challenge. Yet--- unlike Heero, his reaction was rather amused, a smile stretched across his face. He looked on the verge of laughter, his eyes roaming the paper once more.
Heero sneered at the man, wondering why out of all the candidates he had to share this one challenge with--- they had chosen him. Then again--- the possibility of being partnered up with the strange fellow with the purple hair might have been worse. Although less annoying then Duo, he had the strange feeling that the purple haired man had been hitting on him.
And to have this sort of challenge--- and that same man as his partner at the same time--- Heero tried to repress the shudders that suddenly racked his body at the mere thought of what might happen.
Definitely not something he?d like to imagine.
A resigned sigh left his body as he came to terms with what he would need to do--- and sadly that challenge would start the next morrow.
But he wanted to join the club--- one which only few could possibly lay claim too. A rare gift in the prestigious school he attended, and an even rarer one in this country.
His father--- the little he knew of him--- had been in the club, and his father?s father, and his father?s, father?s father. And the line continued; right back to his great ancestor who had been one of the few men to first join the club.
A hopeful soon-to-be member he was now--- hoping to reach that goal of initiation. A goal he had, had since the day he learned of his father?s death, his mother keeping him far and away from the man--- corrupt she said. Yet--- he wanted to know him, and research had brought him to the knowledge of this group, of this school. And to the small fortune left to him.
Earning a scholarship had been easy--- you could say Heero Yuy was the model student. He had good grades, did track, played the cello, and most of all--- followed the rules. With the small fortune in his name, and the fact that his family (on his father?s side) had been attending the school for centuries, it was basically a sure thing that he would get in.
And he did.
It was only a few years later that lead him to where he was now--- in the second year of high school; he was now preparing to finally enter into one of the most elite clubs worldwide. Albeit there had been a few difficulties, one namely being one of the five club leaders.
A Milliardo Peacecraft, (Mr. I have such pretty hair that you don?t deserve to be near me, Milliardo), whom despised Heero for some mysterious reason. He couldn?t fathom a reason why, but Milliardo had been crossed at the club having chosen him to have a chance at a membership. Luckily, the club?s president--- Treize, had overpowered Milliardo?s vote cast against him.
So here he was.
And all he had to do was follow the instructions on the paper still gripped in Duo?s hand.
Today was not a good day.

>P That was so not what I expected to write. I?m working on another GW fic, but I decided not to post anything until I?m at least half way done with the whole thing--- that way you can all be sure I?ll actually finish it. This on the other hand--- needed to be written. I?ll be sure to write the next chapter before I post the previous one, meaning Chapter One is already written, and when that comes out I?ll have already written Chapter Two--- so you can be sure I?ll finish this one. I?m not going to make this a long story, and my chapters might be a bit short compared to my other stories, but I?ll be able to update this a lot sooner than my other stories- you can be sure of that. Well sorry for the long Authors Note. I hope you enjoyed this!
Review, si vous plait (three years of French and I think I spelled that wrong).
