Inevitably Predictable [3/?]

Thanks again to those who read. =) Special thanks to those who reviewed--you guys give me hope to continue the story! Hopefully, the story will wrap up in a couple chapters. I'm currently looking at 6, but we'll see. =)

Chapter 3--When Did Life Get So Complicated
Plopping onto the ground, Inuyasha shook himself all over. Time traveling always made him feel a bit disoriented. Stretching out his arms and legs, Inuyasha smelled the air to detect Kagome?s scent. After sniffing for a few seconds, the half demon frowned. He couldn?t find a trace of the girl?s smell. Shrugging his shoulders, Inuyasha figured that Kagome probably hadn?t ventured outside. She?s probably asleep or something, he thought. Eh, I?ll just go anyway. She needs to get her ass back, so we can find those jewel shards! With that affirmation, Inuyasha sped to the house.

CRASH!
Barging into Kagome?s room, Inuyasha leapt through the window and yelled, ?Kagome! Where the hell are you? Wha???? Glancing around the room, the half demon saw the room in perfect tip-top shape. In fact, the room looked as if it had not been touched for several days. Crinkles marring into his handsome features, Inuyasha pursed his lips as he scanned the room for any signs of Kagome. Poking his head around under the bed and around the corners, the dog demon rummaged through the girl?s things, while sniffing the entire time.
?HEY INUYASHA!?
BAM! Startled, Inuyasha, whose head was under the bed, bonked his head when he heard the booming voice. ?Geez, Souta,? the demon said in exasperation, as he rubbed his now swelling head, ?didn?t you see I was under the bed? What?s wrong with you? Can?t you say hi like normal people do??
Kagome?s younger brother grinned sheepishly. ?Aww, don?t be such a spoil sport. I was excited to see you! Where?s Kagome??
?What? What do you mean, where?s Kagome? Isn?t she here? She?s not sleeping? She should have been here a couple of days ago! Where the hell is she?? the half demon rapidly rattled off the questions.
?Whoah,? Souta took a step back from Inuyasha and his rage, ?I thought she was with you! She hasn?t been home since she last went with you!?
Confused, Inuyasha crossed the distance between him and Souta in one stanch step ?Are you absolutely sure?? the half-demon dangerously said in a low voice.
?No...no...no...sir! I haven?t seen her at all!?
?Damnit!? the half demon cursed. ?Where the hell is she!? crying over his shoulder, Inuyasha fled from the room and flew out of the window.

?It?s right over there,? Kagome pointed out to Kouga, who was still carrying her in his arms. I can?t believe he held me the entire way here, the girl thought. She had protested, but Kouga would not hear of it. In fact, when Kagome kept insisting she could walk, Kouga affirmed that he was perfectly capable of carrying her.
**flashback**
?It?s really okay, Kouga. I can walk. The well isn?t that far from here,? promised Kagome.
?No way. It?s not a problem; I can carry you. It?s the least I can do,? Kouga said firmly.
?But, really. I know I?m heavy, and...? the girl was cut off when Kouga abruptly stopped.
?Do you think you?re too heavy? C?mon Kagome!? With that, Kouga strongly grasped her hand and lead it to his biceps. ?Feel my muscles! I?m strong enough to carry millions of you!?
Her face flaming with embarrassment, Kagome nicely patted the wolf?s solid muscles. She tried to pull her hand away, but Kouga kept her hand on his arm. Showing off, Kouga flexed for her, so she could feel the muscles underneath her touch ripple.
?Uh... I see...yeah...? Kagome couldn?t look Kouga in the eye. ?Um... thanks.. thanks for carrying me then...?
With her thanks, the wolf demon allowed Kagome to pull her hand away. Flashing a devilish smile, Kouge resumed the journey to the well.
**end flashback**
When they reached the well, Kagome readied herself to jump out of Kouga?s arms, but she, instead, found Kouga?s arms tighten. Looking up at him, the girl wondered what the demon was doing. ?Kouga, you can put me down now. The faster I go back home, the faster I can come back with the proper medicine.?
?Hmm...? was the demon?s reply.
?Kouga! C?mon! Put me down, this instant!?
?Hmm..?
?Kou----!?
The protesting girl felt the wolf demon?s lips suddenly lay upon her own. The kiss was soft, yet Kagome tasted desire within Kouga?s lips. Wide eyed, Kagome laid in his arms, unable to react, much less to think. Ending the kiss, Kouga lingered her lips slightly above hers for a second, before pulling his head away.
?Come back to me soon. I?ll be waiting for you, right here.? With that, Kouga gently put down Kagome.
Still in shock, Kagome silently walked to the well and jumped in, the pain from her shoulder, forgotten.

Furiously rubbing her eyes, Kagome tried to clear her mind from what had happened. It was just a dream, just a dream. None of that happened. Silly me! I?m just being delirious! That?s all! I?ll wake up and realize how foolish I am to be dreaming such a strange dream! Inspired by her resolution, Kagome slapped herself on the cheek to confirm she was truly asleep. SLAP! ?OUCH!? So, maybe, it wasn?t a dream after all. Did Kouga really kiss me? Wow... Softly touching her lips with her fingertips, Kagome could still feel the burning of the wolf demon?s lips. Shaking her head frantically, the girl replayed the scene in her head. ?Okay, so, he must have kissed me. The kiss wasn?t that bad... I mean, Kagome! You?re not supposed to have random guys, kissing you! But, really, he isn?t random. I know him?well, I mean, I know who he is, and I know his character. But, did I want him to kiss me? I mean, I didn?t expect it, but I didn?t reject it either. And what if Inuyasha finds out? He?ll kill Kouga for kissing me. Not like Inuyasha has... well, I guess he sorta did... Oh boy, this is getting complicated.? the poor girl sighed. ?I just need to shower, change, and take a short nap. Yes, that?s what I need. Or maybe, I need to consult my Cosmopolitian. Or better yet, Oprah.. auuugh.... when did life get so complicated??

Looking at her surroundings, Kagome sighed with content. ?Back home... it feels so good to be back here, without any distractions.? Stretching, Kagome looked towards her home. She couldn?t wait to rest for a while, to delay pondering how to deal with Kouga and Inuyasha. Rubbing her temples, the girl slowly ambled out of the enclosure, when someone grabbed her shoulder- her right shoulder. ?OUCH!? she yelped as the pain from her shoulder resurfaced and rippled throughout her body. ?Wha?? her voice faltered as she looked at the owner of the hand.
Inuyasha.
?Where the hell have you been? You haven?t been home, as Souta tells me. Where the hell have you been these past days? And why,? the half demon sniffed the air, ?do you smell like that damn wolf? Have you been with that damn demon this entire time? Has he hurt you? I?m going to kill him if he kidnapped you!?
?No, he didn?t kidnap me! I went out of my own free will--?
?WHAT? What do you mean? Have you been helping him find jewel shards? I can?t believe you! That?s what you?ve been doing, hasn?t it? Did that wimpy wolf come up with some other sob story that you dimwittedly fell for? Is that it? I can?t believe you! I can?t believe you would get so mad at me, and go help some?? WHAM! In the middle of his spiel, the half demon plopped promptly and rather hard on the ground.
?If you don?t want to listen to me, fine. But, don?t accuse me either! I?m tired, and I want to shower and take a nap. My shoulder really hurts, now that you almost twisted it. If you want to wait or don?t want to, I don?t really care. I?ll be back in a couple of days to help YOU. How could you ever think I would help someone else find the jewel shards? Especially....never mind---?
Kagome never got to finish her sentence. Inuyasha grabbed her wrist and turned Kagome towards him.
?Inuyasha...?? Kagome whispered.
?Kagome...I...?
