?Remind me why I?m doing this again??

Relena held back another sigh as she attempted once again to finish the decorations.

?Because, unlike you--- I don?t recall volunteering.?

Maybe, if she ignored him--- he?d just go away.

?Relena??

Reaching up, she tried yet again to tie the balloons with the streamers.

?Relena?!?

Maybe if she moved just a couple inches to the right--- one foot on the ladder, another in the air, she tipped a little further to the right.

?Relena!!!?

Her heart lurched as the sound of her name broke her concentration--- resulting in a very awkward position. The foot in the air tipped at an alarming degree as her arms begun to fly about her in an attempt to regain her balance. But she had already leaned too far right leading her to fall off her three-foot ladder.

Luckily, her nose only brushed against something soft green and plushy as a strong pair of arms wrapped around her waist.

Heero slowly brought Relena to a standing position--- meanwhile as the world righted for Relena she looked curiously at the Green Alien Plushy on the floor, glad that Heero had saved both her head and the plushy from a very intimate meeting.

It wasn?t until the feel of Heero?s arms released from her waist, that she turned wide eyes to stare at him.

She almost flinched at the trademark glare on his face--- something she had thought only reserved for Duo. Alas, it seemed she had done something to angry the soldier in front of her--- but luckily, years of dealing with politicians had given Relena the necessary skills to keep her emotions from her face. As the moments passed in silence, Relena watched, waited, and even attempted a staring contest--- which in the end resulted in Relena blinking profusely and the ghost of a victorious smile to flicker across Heero?s face.

Despite Heero?s small victory, it was him who broke the silence as his eyes reverted back to glaring at Relena.

?Why am I here??

She almost retorted with a quick-witted response, but decided that it might be better to once again remind him of his promise---

Okay, okay--- more like a forced promise.

Peering around the room to see if anyone was watching, she quickly leaned forward to place a small kiss upon Heero?s lips. Relena pulled away a scant few centimeters while responding to Heero?s question.

?You are here, because it was either that or my withholding---?

Relena was cut off as one of Heero?s hands quickly covered her mouth, his glare increasing as he too peered about the room for anybody who might be eavesdropping on their conversation.

With a roll of her eyes, and small smile--- Relena gripped Heero?s hand to lead him to the next room over where everyone else was finishing the final decorations.

She stood in awe as she looked at the decorations all across the room until her eyes landed on the makeshift stage. She couldn?t help but grin in delight as she glanced about the room. When she looked over her shoulder she was surprised to see Heero also standing in awe of the room--- with eyes wide and innocent looking. Something Relena hardly ever saw even after they had gotten together.

It was a wonder what a few sparse decorations could do to a rundown orphanage.

As part of a charity event, Relena had gotten a group together to help the orphanage enjoy the holiday season a bit more when she heard how they held a play every year. It was Relena who had gotten the idea to have everyone join in and throw a play for them, but it was Hilde who had pushed through with the idea.

Catherine, Sally, Une, even Dorothy volunteered--- after their help was acquired it was only too easy to convince their other counterparts (come on--- you know who!!!) to tag along too. Not to mention--- other various people as the play consisted of a large cast.

(Although it can be said, Heero had been a bit more difficult to convince--- but in the end he too agreed.)

It was one of Relena?s favorite stories she had grown up--- a very old tale.

Peter Pan.

Unfortunately Relena had absolutely no acting talents. Now granted--- she was quick on her feet, and could play the role of a diplomat well, but actually learning lines and playing that sort of role was completely out of her league. She just didn?t have the talent for it.

So Relena was appointed one of the lesser roles--- a mermaid. But she had no complaints, as she was very much involved in the play with helping out with the costumes and decorations, and setting up a snack bar consisting of popcorn and various candies the children could choose from.

Relena was once again broken out of her reverie as the sound of Hilde reached her ears. Turning around quickly she came face to face with the woman--- a wild look of panic lacing her features as she spoke frantically. Relena reached out to grasp her shoulders while telling Hilde to breath in and out before repeating just what she said, but slower.

?Relena, it?s Dorothy--- she?s sick and she can?t act the part of Tinkerbell.?

(Come on--- can?t you see Dorothy being Tinkerbell?!!?)

Despite the horrible news, Relena instantly perked up--- wanting to offer her lack of acting talent. But her feelings must have showed on her face as Hilde instantly shook her head.

?As much as I would love to give you the part Relena---? Relena watched curiously as Hilde hesitated to say the next part, but she must have resolved as Hilde let the rest of her sentence flow from her mouth, ?--- the thing is, I think even one of the children could do a better job than you.?

And that was saying much--- as Peter Pan wasn?t a very well known tale.

?Then who??

Hilde seemed to be thinking the same thing too, as even with some of the people playing the lesser roles, it would be much too difficult to have them play two roles at once. It was then a thought occurred--- miraculously to the both of them.

It was Heero whose eyes widened in shock, as he saw a pair of wicked smiles flashed his way.

**

Relena flipped through the old photo album--- smiling warmly as she came across some ones that left very fond memories. Her warm smile almost tripled in size as she came to the last page containing her most recent role of pictures.

She couldn?t help but let out a small giggle as she gazed at the picture of a very interesting looking picture of Heero.

It still surprised her that she was able to convince the great Heero Yuy to dress like a fairy.

A fond memory indeed.

Hehe. I hope Relena compensated him for such a big favor.

::lecherous grin::

I mean, Relena is a good diplomat and I'm sure that she merely found the most mutually beneficial situation for all.

I so want to see that picture. hehe
