Gundam Rave... A silly fic offered up for feedback from all
Posted: Sat Oct 18, 2003 8:44 am
Okay, this little beast has been running around in my head for almost three years now... I finally put it onto the computer, at least partially and I would like to know if ANYONE thinks it is worth continuing. It may be really terrible, it may just be MILDLY terrible, I'm not sure. Basically, I'm looking for some feedback. Also, just to give credit where it is due, the original idea for this story was Violetfairychild's, inspired by "The GW Mix", a mixed CD that was the beginning of her crowning as the Queen of All Songfics. She had the idea for this one, I just am the only one who got around to actually writing it. Thanks, Vi!! Oh, and Rose, if you think this is in the wrong section, just let me know and I will move it! *bows to the Mistress of Dark*
Gundam Rave
(tentative title)
Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing or it's characters, nor do I have any rights to the track Sandstorm, by DARUDE. Please don't sue me! Arigato.
Pairings: 2xH, some hints at 5xS, possible 1xR and 4xCB later, 3xOC
Warnings: Rated R for sexuality and mild drug use by an OC, possible later lemon...
Author's Note: It's kind of AU, but not really... There is some OOCness, for which I am sorry... please, do not beat me heavily for this humble submission...
Trowa Barton scanned the crowd, looking for the rest of his crew. It seemed harder and harder to keep them all together these days, and the parties just kept getting bigger. Not that he'd give it up. Not for the world. Besides, if he didn't have this, what the hell else was he going to do in his spare time? Still scanning the crowd, he spotted Catherine's unmistakable bright blue outfit just ahead. He knew that where Catherine was, Quatre and Duo wouldn't be far away. As he approached, he noticed Catherine was in the middle of a circle, holding onlookers in a trance with the glowing sphere she maneuvered so deftly between her skilled hands. He smiled. She never could wait to show off, especially when the rave was as energy packed as this one was.
Spotting Quatre on the outskirts of the circle, Trowa adjusted his visor and pushed his way to the blonde boy.
"She just couldn't wait for our big moment, huh?" he asked Quatre, his normally very quiet voice a strained shout.
"Of course not. Can't you feel the vibe? Plus, a really good looking guy who was very messed up asked her for a light show. Catherine never has been able to turn down a good looking guy... " Quatre shrugged.
"... who's messed up." Trowa finished the thought and laughed. "Where's our other buddy who can't say no? Is Duo entertaining the masses again tonight?"
"Just a select few. He's over there." Quatre pointed to what appeared at first glance to be a lump of clothing. Upon further inspection, it turned out to be Duo giving a back rub to a cute girl in a sparkly tank top while kissing another who it took Trow a few seconds to recognize as Hilde Schbieker with interesting blonde streaks in her hair.
"I'm gonna go remind him that Heero's set starts in about 20 minutes. Stay here," Trowa yelled, then set off in the direction of Casanova.
Duo Maxwell looked up and pulled away from Hilde as Trowa approached. Never one to miss an opportunity, however, he did nothing to prevent her hand from continuing it's slow but sure creep up his leg.
"Trowa! Man, you always look so down. You gotta loosen up a little man!" This last was punctuated by a gasp and a slight shift in posture as the Hilde's hand reached it's goal. She giggled, and Duo kissed her again, this time let his hands do a little wandering of their own. He pulled away when Trowa cleared his throat. "So, what's up, my friend?"
"I just wanted to let you know that Heero's set starts in about 15 minutes. And to ask for an introduction." Trowa flashed a rare but powerful grin at the girl in the sparkly tank top. She blushed, obviously under the influence of some sort of drug.
"Oh, that's Jaydra. She's a friend of Hilde's from school... this is her first party, Trowa." Duo's grin was now one of hinting.
"Is that so? Well, you certainly picked the right one to come to. And the right company. Duo and I happen to be party vets. So, Jaydra, you on anything tonight?" Trowa had a feeling tonight was shaping up to be one to remember. Jaydra seemed sweet, and was definitely nice to look at. He'd have to remember to thank Duo later.
"Um, I took some ecstacy. I don't think it's working though. I don't really feel much of anything." Her voice was pleasant and innocent.
"Here, breathe really deeply for a minute... that's right... now hyperventilate... okay, take a deep breath and hold it... I'm going to lift you up, hold it as long as you can, okay? Okay, here we go!" Trowa pulled the girl to her feet and placed his hands on her waist, offering support should she need it. As she let her breath out, her eyes widened and her knees buckled as Trowa had expected them to. He was ready, and caught her effortlessly.
"Wow!" she said, breathlessly in his ear. "That was incredible!" She was trembling, and he smoothed his hands down her back, stilling her, while at the same time pressing her against him.
Duo was the one to clear his throat this time. Trowa disengaged himself from Jaydra and focused on his friend. Duo was gesturing towards the front of the venue and pointing to his watch. Time to go.
As the first beats of Heero's set began, Duo and trowa gathered the two girls and then signaled to Quatre and Catherine. Show time. They mad their way to the front of the auditorium and waved discreetly at the young man on the turntables.
Heero Yuy smiled faintly as he spotted his friends in the front of the jumping crowd. Hands pumped up at him in rhythm to the hard bass he threw down. This was really the only thing that kept him sane. In the thumping bass and fast-paced treble, he could almost forget his past. Almost. But the machinery in front of him reminded him just a little too much of the controls of Wing... ~Just another mission.~ he thought wryly, and threw on the record that almost always proved to be the highlight of his set. Of course, a lot of that was up to his friends down there in the crowd.
Trowa, Catherine and Quatre exchanged glances as the familiar beats of "Sandstorm" began. Moving to the clearest spot available, Trowa whipped out his glows ticks and started the show.
Weaving complex patterns of light with his hands, he smiled, knowing every eye in the area was fixed on his arms. He began to add the foot patterns as well, pushing people back to form a wide circle around him. Feeling the music start to swell, he prepared for his next step, one of the most complex. At the precise moment the build-up reached it's climax, he tossed his glows ticks and executed a perfect back-flip. He landed exactly as planned, an instant before Quatre stepped into the circle and caught Trowa's abandoned glows ticks. Trowa found the other pair of sticks in his pockets and he and quatre faced each other, mirroring every move perfectly. Soon, the four glows ticks were flying through the air, passing from Quatre's hands to Trowa's and back again. At the appropriate time, Quatre flung his glow sticks at Trowa and whipped out a pair of blinding bright photon lights.
Now it was Quatre's turn to shine. The photon lights wove webs of cris-cross trails, burning themselves into the retinas of those watching. The crowd was completely transfixed.
Meanwhile, Trowa was busy tying all four glow sticks to lengths of rope. When this was done, he hid one pair in his hands and began to swing the other pair. Moving the arcs of light from high to low, into each other and around himself, he took center stage again. Then when the music built again, he tossed the hidden glow sticks to Quatre, who proceeded to mirror Trowa again. A few seconds later, Catherine deftly stepped between the two of them, pulling her OWN pair of glow stick. She kept hers in her hands, going to her knees between the men as they closed the distance between them. To end the show, Catherine somersaulted out of the circle and the two boys caught their glow sticks and bowed.
"Perfect, as always," Duo shouted as the "performers" rejoined he, Hilde and Jaydra.
"What I want to know is how on Earth-sphere you have time to perfect THAT while still doing your jobs," a familiar, if unexpected, voice said behind them.
"SALLY?!" Catherine said incredulously. The three young men stood speechless behind her.
"Wh-what're YOU doing here?" Quatre stammered.
"One might ask the same of you. Don't you have better things to do?" another voice, from behind Sally, asked. The four stared in amazement as Wufei Chang stepped around a smiling Sally Po.
"By the way, that was pretty incredible," Sally said, jerking a thumb over her shoulder at the circle. New occupants had taken the middle, but they were nowhere near as talented as Trowa, Quatre and Catherine.
"It's really easier than it looks. Here, you try it, Wufei." Trowa offered one set of glow sticks to Wufei. Wufei gave him a stern look.
"A spectacle such as that would be beneath me. I must keep my dignity," Wufei said vehemently. Jaydra and Electra giggled from behind Duo. The others, who were used to Wufei's self-righteousness, only smiled faintly.
"C'mon, Wufei! Nobody here knows you but us. What harm could it do?" Duo grinned and slung an arm around the stiff and dignified Chinese boy's shoulders.
"Yeah, Wufei, give it a try!" Sally said, smiling brightly. Sally put an arm around him. To those watching carefully, he MIGHT have cracked the tiniest of smiles. Sighing, he held out his hands. Trow handed him the glowsticks.
"Give me all four." Wufei said, silencing any questions with a glare. He proceeded to tie them together, two in each hands. Gesturing for them to move back slightly, he began an intricate kata. At the end, he caught one glowstick under each arm and stood contemplating for a moment. His friends held their collective breath.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Wufei launched himself into a flurry of movement. He whipped the lightsticks out from under his arms and spun them, passing from front to back, then returning to under his arms, only to then move them in circles around his chest.
Quatre gasped in amazment as the "inexperienced" former pilot moved, his sticks spinning so quickly they appeared to be solid circles of ligt around him. Duo gazed open-mouthed as Wufei twisted and preformed a perfect standing front flip, then swung easily back into the spinning arcs of light. Trowa raised one eyebrow and glanced at Sally. Although clearly impressed, a smug smile ghosted her lips.
"Where in the world did he learn to 'stick' like that?" Hilde spoke up for the first time, turning to Duo for an answer. Duo shrugged, at a loss for words (quite possibly for the first time in his life).
"He didn't." Sally replied. "He learned how to do MARTIAL ARTS like that." The smile was now in full evidence as she watched, fascinated by Wufei's precise movements and utterly un-readable face.
"That's incredible!" Jaydra exclaimed, then moved closer to Trowa, "But it's not quite as exciting as what you guys did."
Trowa smiled enigmatically. "Well, let's spice it up a little then. Quatre, give me the spare pair and your photons." Quatre complied, never taking his eyes off Wufei.
"Watch this." Trowa said after fiddling with things for a moment. "If you think THAT'S cool, you ain't seen nothin' yet!"
