Yay! Another chapter! A big hug and thanks to DragonQueen, and of course, to Kari. Thanks for all the kind words!
This chapter was too fun..I had just went to the Puyallup Fair when I wrote it, so I hope you enjoy it. Heero's so gosh darn cute...

Opportunity Knocks Twice Chapter Three
Heero woke up the next morning with a stupid grin plastered to his face. ?It had been a long time since he?d been this happy.? Swinging himself out of bed, he ran his hands through his hair.
?Of course, he knew he shouldn?t be celebrating as much as he was. He hadn?t completed the mission yet, but he felt that if he would die happy today.?
?Good, Heero! You?re finally awake!? a voice called from the door.
Heero jumped, and turned to face a grinning Quatre. Heero?s success at the movies last night seemed to be evident in both pilots. Rubbing his hands together, Quatre said excitedly, ?So, what?s the plan today??
?Plan?? Heero answered, raising his eyebrow and giving the blonde a worried look. Quatre let out a deep sigh and rolled his eyes.
?The plan to get Relena to love you! What do you think I meant??
Oh right. That plan.
Heero opened his mouth to answer him but was interrupting by Quatre?s insistent ramblings. ?Oh! How about this?? or ?That would be perfect!? Heero groaned. This was going to be a very long week. Pulling his bag from under his bed, he grabbed a shirt and jeans.
A newspaper clipping fell at his feet. Frowning, Heero picked it up. Quatre had quieted down long enough to watch the scene. Heero?s eyes widened at the picture, but then narrowed. On further examination of the clip, they narrowed even farther.
Quatre was beginning to get worried. He knew that glare. ?Um?Heero?? he started, voice wavering a bit.
But Heero?s eyes only softened into anxious worry. He turned the picture around to show Quatre. ?Do you?do you think she?d like this??
Peering at the picture, Quatre slips curved into a smile. It was a picture of Relena at a fair, cotton candy in hand and a wide smile on her face. The edge was missing, and he had a feeling Heero had cut out Taylor.
He looked up to see his smile reflected on Heero?s face.
?You know?I think she just might??

A smiling man appeared on the vidscreen, long blonde hair almost covering up his light blue eyes. Brushing his bangs out of his face, he spoke softly.
?You?ve reached Taylor Locke, and I seem to be out at the moment. Please, leave a message and I?ll get back to you?maybe. If your name?s Relena, of course, don?t hesitate to call my cell phone.?
A handsome blue eye winked, and the picture faded into a black screen.
Beep.
Relena smiled. ?Hey handsome. Don?t forget to pick me up at the airport on Sunday. Hope you?re having fun. Give me a call later? Bye?
She pressed a button and ended the connection. She let out a sigh, but the smile remained on her face. ?She really was lucky. Taylor was such a sweet and quiet guy. He didn?t seem to like the spotlight much, but smiled for the cameras and never let it show.?
Tossing on a bathrobe, Relena ruffled her hair and slipped out of the room. She wondered what the cook had for breakfast.

The cook was blushing as he put another pile of pancakes on the table. Quatre had convinced him to make breakfast ?to knock Relena?s socks off?, and luckily, she seemed to like it. Her eyes sparkled, and her mouth was full.
?Where?d you learn to cook, Heero??
?I took a few classes at college,? he answered shyly, throwing a glance at Quatre to make sure he was doing all right. Quatre winked at him.
Relena?s eyes shot up. Swallowing, she continued, ?I?m impressed! Heero Yuy, the cook. Who would have thought??
Heero blushed again, and sat down next to her. ?He had actually been forced to take the class. At the time, he had given up on hacking and was forced to follow the appalling scheduling process like normal students. But, he was rather glad now.?
Relena took another bite, still smiling. She had almost had a heart attack when she walked into the room, and Heero had been extremely embarrassed about the ordeal. Although, he supposed, it?s not everyday you walk into a kitchen to see a former Gundam pilot making pancakes with an apron that read, ?Kiss the cook.? All was Quatre?s idea, of course.
?He swore his face was still pink where Relena had kissed him on the cheek. It hadn?t meant anything, so he kept telling himself. It still felt wonderful.?
?Delicious, Heero! I?m stuffed,? Relena exclaimed, pushing her plate away. She threw another smile at him, and then turned to Quatre. ?So, how was your visit yesterday??
Quatre smiled back, and replied innocently, ?Wonderful! It?s been such a long time since I?ve had a chance to see her??
Heero rolled his eyes, and blocked out the conversation. ?And Quatre was supposed to be the innocent one.?
A few heartbeats later, Relena?s eyes were sparkling more than ever. ?A carnival?? she nearly squealed, her face lit up.
Nodding, Quatre went on to explain that it was in town this week and although he couldn?t make it, he?d let them borrow the limo.
?I?m sorry, but my other sister invited me to a baby shower this afternoon. No, no, its not trouble at all! You two enjoy yourselves!?
Heero held his breath. He was worried Relena would suspect something. ?Wasn?t it too obvious?? But she looked delighted, and ran up to her bedroom to change.
Heero burst out laughing. ?You?ve got the devil?s luck, Quatre.?
Quatre just winked and smiled at Heero.

Relena laughed, and grabbed Heero?s arm. ?The poor thing had never been to a fair either. His eyes were wide and fearful, and she guessed it was because of the crowds. He was never the most social of people.?
Dragging him with her to the gates, Relena had donned a pair of sunglasses. One could never be too careful. She wasn?t afraid of assassins, but it was more annoying to be recognized and treated like a celebrity.
She handed the tickets over to lady next to the booth, who gave her a strange look. She could almost see the process of her reasoning: blonde hair with two pigtails, sunglasses, and early 20? s-
?Why, aren?t you?!?
Relena elbowed Heero in the stomach, and after blinking for a heartbeat; he glared daggers at the women. Smiling, Relena grabbed the ticket stubs and proceeded to drag Heero through the gates before the startled woman could say another word.
She could hear him sigh deeply behind her, and grinned wider. She had made a bargain with him a few minutes earlier to scare people away if things got out of hand. She had a funny feeling he wasn?t enjoying his job too much.
Turning to face him, she gave him a smile. His face changed immediately, and he gave her a shy smile back. It took her a minute to realize that she still held his hand, and she let go, blushing.
?What do you want to do?? Heero asked, turning to look
?That.? Relena pointed to the a ride called Wrath of God.

Relena stepped of the ride, grinning ear to ear. It was always worth the fear. Heero, unfortunately, wasn?t looking too good.
?Well, that was fun!? she exclaimed, glancing over to see Heero?s reaction. She had to bit her tongue to keep from laughing. The poor guy couldn?t walk in a straight line, and looked a little pale.
?This was so unlike him. He piloted a Gundam for years, and even went through special training with Dr. J.?
She walked over to him, and gently touched his shoulder. ?Heero??
He jumped, but smiled down at her. ?I?m fine, really,? he said softly, brushing his long bangs out of his face. Relena returned the smile, and asked, ?So, what do you want to do now??
He looked thoughtful for a moment, and didn?t speak. When his stomach growled, he blushed and looked at her with a sheepish grin. ?Guess that answers your question.?
Relena giggled, and started off towards the food court with a smiling Heero behind her.

?Oh! You have to try this, Heero!?
He raised his eyebrows, and stared blankly at the huge pile of food in front of him. He?d been hungry, but not quite this hungry.
Throwing Relena a wary glance, he put yet another sugar coated object in his mouth. But he couldn?t help smiling. He actually liked this one. ?What is this?? he asked after he had swallowed.
?Cotton candy, Heero. Honestly, you?ve been missing out on so much. Try some of this. It?s an elephant ear,? she insisted, handing over a plate.
?An elephant?? Heero began, blinking. Relena gave him a wicked grin as she put a piece in her mouth.
?You?ll like it. It won?t kill you.?
Heero smiled. He had never seen her so happy and he was glad he was part of it. Definitely worth going on that accursed ride. He added this to the growing list of foods he?d learned he liked.
?Have you ever been on a Ferris wheel?? Relena asked, looking at him curiously. Her sapphire eyes sparkled, and he had a bad feeling about this one.
?Err?no. Is it like the last one?? he answered in a worried tone, not sure if another ride like that was worth it. He changed his mind the second a wide grin appeared on her beautiful face.
?Not at all! Come on, you?ll love it,? she exclaimed, stepping over the bench and tossing the huge pile of garbage away. Heero smiled back, and followed her.
He would have died to see that smile on her face. A simple Ferris wheel was nothing.

Relena elbowed Heero again. Instant glare. Giggling, she stepped into the chair, scooting over so that Heero could also sit down.
?He looked unusually nervous. Was it possible? Could he be?afraid of heights?? She mentally kicked herself. ?Of course not. No matter how much changed he?d gone through, he was still Heero Yuy. The fearless Gundam pilot she?d been in love with for nearly two years.? Sighing, she stole a glance over at him.
?He was just as handsome as he had been, that much was clear. And even more so, because he smiled. That was what stuck out to her the most. His hair was still just as long, just as unruly, and he still had the most beautiful eyes she?d ever seen.?
He seemed to notice her looking at him, and turned to face her with a shy grin. ?Even though he was the same man, he was altogether new to her. She had no idea what he?d been up to for nearly three years. She was almost afraid to ask.?
?Heero,? she began quietly, ?where?ve you been?? Dumb question, Relena. Good going.
He blinked a few times, and then looked at the sky thoughtfully. ?Here. On Earth. I?ve always loved it here.?
?Not the answer she was expecting. So, he was still mysterious.? Letting her mouth curve into a smile, she turned and looked the other way. ?I?m glad you came back.?
He didn?t respond right away. She almost said something, but he replied in a quiet voice. ?So am I. I?m?.sorry I left you for so long.?
Relena blinked. ?Heero Yuy had just apologized. Wasn?t this the cue to faint, or jump with joy??
?You mean it??
?Of course. I needed the time though. I wasn?t any good to anybody back then.? Relena turned to look at him again, but he wasn?t looking at her. Frowning, she reached over and gently touched his shoulder.
?Don?t lie to yourself, Heero.?
Heero turned to face her with soft eyes, and she smiled at him. He seemed to be feeling a little better now.
But her eyes widened when he did the least likely thing imaginable.
He kissed her.

Heero tried to ignore the little voices in his head telling him to ?stop being a goddamned idiot', and took advantage of the moment.
Not that he was one to complain, but thing had gone from confusing to insane in a few moments. Especially now that she was, of all things, kissing back.
Heero finally gave into the voices and pulled back to look into Relena?s face. She looked so peaceful, and he had a feeling the same look was reflected on his own.
Her eyes opened slowly, and she frowned at him. Oh boy. Here it comes. ?What?was that for, Heero??
He could almost feel the wheels in his head slow to a complete stop and he stared blankly at the former queen. But, if he learned anything in life, it was to play on his strengths. ?I?don?t know.?
Tearing his gaze away from her, he blushed furiously. ?I?m sorry, Relena. It?s just that?I?ve seen people do that in movies, and thought maybe it was the right thing to do??
He trailed off and hoped for the best. Whatever god that blessed Quatre seemed to be favoring him today, however, because he was rewarded with a sweet giggle.
?Honestly, Heero. How did you learn to kiss like that? Watching movies?? she grinned at him, and collapsed into another fit of giggles.
Heero sighed and looked away. ?Saved by his own stupidity.? But he couldn?t help his lip from curving into a slight smile.
?It hadn?t been such a bad day after all.?

*cackles* Oh, I torture him so. Things are about to get interesting though...like when the handsome Taylor calls back! (by the way, I based the guy of of my current crush, Joe. *snickers* Wouldn't he feel special if he knew? *giggles* Please, review. I need some sanity here.
