AN: YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO KILL ME.

Readers: -_-
Litia: That's better.

Now, before someone decides to get on their high horse and tell me that straberries aren't nearly as juicy as they are in this chapter, (because that strawberry juice is important, dang it,) let me remind you that this is FICTION. Not only that, this is FAN FICTION, and I'll do what I want so BLEH!

*dive bomb tackles beta reader*

I love you!

Everyone, please enjoy this chapter, and ignore the part of your brain that nags at you and says, "That's not logical..." because that's the point. :-P Other than that, this chapter is going to be specially dedicated to those at Blissful Ignorance, for being supportive, kind, funny, and persistant. :) A pretty big chunk of my heart is attatched to you all.

Have fun, everybody!

Very Many Little Things
Day Three

Heero kicked the door open, storming through the threshold and tossing Relena onto the bed like a sack of potatoes. She hit the mattress before the door hit the wall. Some people would think this behaviour was extreme, but Heero had just sat through six, count 'em, six hours of Relena yelling and screaming and demanding that he let her go. That really wasn't necessary, since there's no way he could have "let her go" from thousands of feet above the ground. But she had been yelling, and yelling, and yelling about the same thing over, and over, and over. And besides that, she didn't need to be let go because she hadn't been kidnapped.

Not technically.

In the end, her constant (yes, CONSTANT) yelling was what drove his patience to its end. As a result, he'd had to put her in handcuffs and was tempted to put duct tape over her mouth, but she would never forgive that.

Handcuffs, on the other hand, would be very useful later.

With that in mind, Heero had carried her in a fireman's hold all the way to the car from Livia's apartment, all the way to the airport from the car, and all the way to the hotel when they landed. Because she didn't want to take a taxi.

He had her slung over his shoulder when he went to the desk to get their room key. Had her slung over his shoulder all the way up three flights of stairs. And now, he had finally reached his destination, and tossed her rudely onto the bed.

Thus, the yelling continued.

"I can't believe you just threw me!" she shouted. She got up as quickly as she could and made a run for the door, but he caught her with one arm and kicked the door shut. He picked her up and tossed her, a little more gently this time, back onto the bed, where she lay flat on her back and screamed.

He locked the door.

"Heero, do you realise that I have a job to do? I have meetings all week and I have a brunch with Ambassador-"

"It's been cancelled," he said curtly, checking their bags. He'd sent the bellhop up ahead of him, on the elevator, to make sure their bags arrived before they did. It was very important that Relena not see the arrival of one particular bag.

The one he was currently checking.

"It's been cancelled?" she questioned him, nearly screeching. "My whole week's been cancelled?"

Without looking at her, he answered, "It was your idea."

He heard her take in a breath in preparation to speak, but she faltered and become silent. Finally. As he dug around, looking for the key to her handcuffs, he heard the jingle of metal hitting metal and knew that she was trying to free herself.

The sound of something the size of handcuffs hitting the carpet momentarily confused him.

He turned around in time to see her closing the bathroom door, and heard the click of it locking. He didn't mind too much. One door wasn't going to keep him from his goal. But he was puzzled as to how she had gotten out of the handcuffs.

He gave up looking for the key and grabbed a second pair of handcuffs instead.

Walking over to the bed, he picked up the discarded cuffs and then headed for the bathroom. She would come out, or he would make her come out. Either way, they were going to talk, this was going to get resolved, and their house would have a security system. End of discussion.

Clinking sounds and several thumps indicated that she was looking for something to help her escape. Heero smiled in appreciation. That woman never did give up.

Gripping the handle, he turned it until it creaked and snapped, successfully breaking it off of the door. He casually swung the door open and walked in. Relena's head whipped around from checking shower, and he was once again confused. What could she possibly hope to find in the shower?

"That door was locked!" she yelled at him.

"Yes, it was," he said smoothly, grabbing her arms and yanking her against him. As he practically dragged her back out into the bedroom, she eyed the two pairs of cuffs he was holding and scowled.

"And just what do you think you are doing with those?"

Once again, she was plopped down onto the bed.

Instead of answering her, he went about the task of cuffing each one of her hands to separate sides of the headboard. It was rather difficult, with her struggling and all, but she inevitably ended up handcuffed to the headboard just as planned and with no way to escape. Using two different pairs of cuffs, he was able to keep her hands far enough apart that she couldn't wriggle her way out of them, and also couldn't use anything nearby to pick the locks.

As he sat there, watching her, he decided he'd worry about the key later.

"God damn it, Heero! Let me out of here right now! I am not kidding!"

"And you think I am?" he snapped. He hadn't intended to sound so harsh, but he'd already lost his much needed patience.

Feigning amusement, she gritted out, "Well, I don't know, poopsy. Did you chain me up just for fun?"

He ignored her and stood up, grabbing the phone.

"What are you doing now?" she asked.

"Ordering room service," he replied as calmly as possible. After a moment of thought he put the phone back down. "Actually, I think I'll just go get something."

"Well, don't forget that you have me to feed. And our unborn child!"

He stopped at the door and turned to look at her. It was quite a picture, her lying there. Hands indignantly locked above her head. Skirt riding up a little. Hair ruffled.

He sighed.

This had better work.

~~~~~~~~~~
When Heero left the room she fought the urge to let out another blood curdling scream. She was fuming. Fuming! If she looked in a mirror she was sure she'd see fire and/or smoke coming out of her ears.
But she couldn't do that. Noooo, she was handcuffed!
Wildly she jerked against her restraints until her arms grew tired and aching. God damn it, Heero! She shouted in her mind. Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!
Eventually she gave up and let out an exasperated sigh, blowing her bangs off of her face. They fell back down and landed in her eyes, and she fought the urge to scream again.
I can't believe this is happening. What could possibly make him do this sort of thing?
She remembered the way his eyes had shone when she'd first started yelling at Livia's.
"Argh!" she jerked against the cuffs one last time, just to let out some steam. If she didn't know better she'd think he'd gotten her mad on purpose. But what kind of idiot would get their wife mad on purpose?
...She froze.
The kind who's figured out that his wife isn't telling the whole truth.
She glanced around the room, finally taking in her surroundings. She hadn't really been paying attention during their trip. She was mostly just yelling. Now, she was wishing she'd been much more attentive, because she had no idea where she was.
And this room strangely resembled the one they'd spend their wedding night in.
* * *
"So now we remove the security system. Right?"
"Yes, that's right."
"And then we install a new one once Heero tells Relena it's gone."
He nodded.
"Well then, why did we even install one in the first place?"
He took her hand in his. "Because in a relationship, trust is extremely important."
"I see," Livia said, and smiled as Trowa kissed her.
"Let's get to it, then."
~~~~~~~~~~

Heero stalled outside the door, staring down at the tray in his hands. He wondered if she'd recognized the room yet, and if she hadn't, if she would recognise the 'meal' he was bringing her. It seemed like so long ago, their first stay at this hotel. It seemed like so long ago that he had proposed to her.

And she refused.

He smiled at the memory. Her indignant posture, blushing cheeks...he supposed that's what he should have been expecting for popping the question while she was straddling his waist.

It only took five minutes to change her mind.

Shaking his head, he balanced the tray on one hand and opened the door with the other. The rush of air form inside the room held Relena's scent, like rooms always did when she was in them. Even for a second, if she had been somewhere, he could detect her. It was a marvellous gift.

When he caught sight of her on the bed he had to take a few deep breaths. Sex is just a bonus; he remembered Trowa's words from back then. Relena is a treasure. Treat her like one.

By the look on her face, she was still a very pissed off treasure.

Trowa would be proud.

"Well well, look who's back," she grumbled. She turned her head away in a haughty refusal to look at him.

He noticed the beginnings of bruises around her wrists and scowled. "You hurt yourself."

She glared at the wall. Apparently she wasn't speaking to him, either.

Suppressing a wave a guilt that washed over him, he shut the door and locked it, again. It was rather early in the morning, and they would probably be working this out all day.

And, knowing her, all night as well.

He sat next to her on the bed, on the side that she wasn't facing. If he tried to sit on the side she was facing, she would just look away. It was adorable, but also annoying. He set the tray down next to him and examined everything on it carefully before picking up what he wanted her to eat.

A strawberry. There's no way she could have forgotten about the strawberries.

"Eat this," he said, trying not to sound too commanding.

She didn't respond.

"Relena, if you don't want to eat, that's fine. But think about the baby."

She glared harder at the wall, then turned her head upwards and glared at the ceiling. She opened her mouth slightly and didn't say a word.

Anticipating her reaction and hoping she would remember, he placed the strawberry in her mouth and waited. Her eyes widened.

Yes, she did remember the strawberries.

She looked at him suddenly and the anger on her face slowly dissipated. She bit down on the strawberry and a trickle of its juice escaped down the side of her mouth. He gently wiped it away with his thumb.

Just like that night.

Her eyes were filled with the realisation of what was happening, and recognition of her location.

The One and Only Ocean Club, in Nassau. Where they'd gotten engaged and later spent their honeymoon. Where they'd made love for the first time.

Her cheeks turned pink, and she continued to eat the strawberry. It was hard to keep his attention focused on her eyes and not on her mouth. Her lips wrapped around the soft fruit. Her teeth gently nibbling on it. Her tongue tentatively licking its surface.

Lucky, lucky strawberry.

He wasn't sure if she was eating it slowly on purpose or not, but if she didn't hurry up they wouldn't get the chance to talk about their problems at all. The main reason being that she had been utterly ruthless the past two days and with no outlet for him to...vent, the pressure had built up in no time. Judging by the way she was looking at him, she was fully aware of the effects her actions were having on him.

Demon. Those beautiful blue eyes were sparkling with mischief, and she appeared to be purposefully letting some of the juice dribble down her face.

Why in the hell was she still eating that GOD DAMNED STRAWBERRY?!

He pulled it away from her, as slowly and gently as he could, because her tongue had followed it out with his fingers. She licked some of the excess juice off his thumb and then smiled at him. He shuttered.

Sex is just a bonus, Trowa's voice reminded him. Relena is a treasure.

He put the remains of the strawberry back on the tray and picked up a napkin. There was no way he was going to get his fingers close to her mouth again with something keeping her in check. He dabbed the napkin against her cheek where the juice had slid down. He would much have rather have used his bare fingers, but he would have to wait. Using his tongue was another idea. Which he quickly pushed aside.

"Why did you bring me here?" she asked, her voice considerably more calm than earlier. Though not nearly calm enough.

He looked directly into her eyes. "You can't lie to me when you're here," he said.

She looked away.

"I know something's wrong. Something you're not telling me," he tilted her face back toward him. "What is it?"

Suddenly, her expression was defensive. "Now you're accusing me of lying?"

"No," he set the napkin aside and placed his hands on either side of waist, leaning over her. "I'm accusing you of being mistrustful."

"Mistrustful of who?" she asked, her voice rising.

He stared intently at her for a few moments, then said, "Yourself."

She didn't respond.

"Relena, please, just tell me what it is. Let me help you. That's what I do."

Still she said nothing, but she'd begun to blink more often and there was a noticeable increase of moisture in her eyes.

She was trying not to cry.

He waited a few more minutes, but when she still didn't respond, he decided to take a break. As he was about to move away, he heard her sniffle, and stopped. He stared at her, willing her to speak, and at last she did.

"Do you remember...when you proposed? And I said 'no'?"

He nodded. "Yeah."

Her voice was very low, and sounded somewhat strained. He didn't like it.

"Do you remember why I said 'no'?"

Yes, he told himself. You thought you wouldn't be a good wife. That your job would get in the way, and you wouldn't be able to-

"I don't know how to be a mother, Heero," she said quietly. "I don't even know how to be your wife."

For several minutes, he couldn't move. Did she really just say that? When he did move, he cradled her face in his hands.

"But you are my wife, and you make me happy. More happy than anything. How could you ever think otherwise?"

A tear rolled down her cheek, and he caught it with his fingertip.

"Because...you had to chain me to a bed just to get me to talk to you."

He smiled at her. "Handcuffs. They're different from chains. Chains are usually half an inch thicker than-"

"Stop it! God, Heero, can't you just let up on trying to be logical for once?"

He leant down, and before his pressed his lips to hers he said, "No."

The sound of the handcuffs pulling against the wood stopped them from going further.

"Can you take these off me now?"

Inwardly, he cringed before answering. "I can't find the key."

She blinked at him.

"...What?!"

Remember, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO KILL ME.

And, STRAWBERRIES ARE AS JUICY AS I WANT THEM TO BE.

Ha!

Yeah! Strawberries are awesome! *dances around HeerosChick1842* I'll get to work on the next part soon, and add in a few extra strawberries 'cause I love 'em!

My friend, Druidic Moon, (the original author of Very Many Little Things) posted this on AISHITERU a long time ago. When she left fanfiction, ( :cry: ) she gave me control of her account there and passed this fic onto me. That was back in March, or April, I think. Very Many Little Things has been on AISHITERU for a long, long time.

I'm proud to be working on it. ^_^ I'm pretty sure you're going to LOVE what happens next. :wink:

~Litia

P.S. In case anyone's interested in knowing, VMLT is only the SECOND fic I've worked on alone. The first was Symbol of Temptation, and now I've started another fic in the Alternatives forum...just thought that was weird.

Considering I started out as Druidic Moon's beta reader for VMLT. :eek:

Gah! I haven't told anyone that! *runs away*

*grins*

Heero is evil. I swear, that boy has too many ideas up his sleeves. And, consequently, none of them ever work out the way he planned them! *snicker* Poor guy, he tries so hard. I agree with you on the strawberries!

I loved this chapter, but you HAD to end it! I can't wait for the next one. And I KNOW I'm going to love what happens next, too.

*hugs litia-sama* Great work! We anxiously await the next chapter, so write fast!

*hugs athena* Thank you! Finally, someone who may actually get me to stop with those dang cliffhangers.

Yes, Heero tries so very hard. :razz: Don't worry. He'll get what he wants. Eventually.

*snickers about next chapter*

Can we say, snack time?

*maniacal laughter as she walks away*

If I were Relena I wouldn't take "lost" as an excuse. She's married to the Perfect Soldier for crying out loud! I bet there is plenty in the room he could use to undo those cuffs. . . and when she figures that out she'll be even more pissed off. :) hehe

Mmmm. Wish I had some strawberries. . . and a guy like Heero to feed them to me. In fact, I could even go without the strawberries. :wink:

Ha! By the time she figures that out, Heero's plan will be well on it's way.

:eek: I didn't say that! *runs away again*

P.S. AoD, your post somehow reminded me of a fanart I saw once with Heero standing around in a strawberry suit. O.O Unless that was a dream?
