Blue Moon Mystery

"Hey Heero," Relena asked. "Since the wars are over, what are you planning to do?"
"... I don't know." Was the uncomfortable answer.
"Want to join up with me and take a vacation from all the publicity?" 'What publicity?' She thought to herself. 'He can disappear in a crowd in moments.'
"... Sure."
"Great. So, uh ...Where do you want to go?"
"... Anywhere is fine."
"How about Michigan?"
This question however got him to stop walking and stare at her blankly."Where?"
"Michigan. It's in the US. You know, the Great lake state? The Peninsula Twins? Shaped like a Mitten? Has a Upper and Lower Peninsula?"
"Michigan?"
"You don't think its a good idea for a getaway?"
"Yeah, don't you think its a good idea for a get away?" Duo snuck up behind them. Elyn walked up a little ways behind him. Everyone else was behind her. Well, except for the doctors and most of the Maganac Corps. They were all back home getting R&R. Une was keeping an eye on HQ.
"Where did ya say we could go?" Jesse asked for everyone. Even Zechs and Noin were there.
"Uh, uh ...Michigan?"Relena stammered. Heero glared at them all.
"Aww, is Heero and 'Wena havin a get together without us?"Jesse and Duo joked while Relena blushed. Heero glared even harder at the twin comedians.
"Good idea Relena," Noin remarked as she wrapped her arm around Zechs.
"Yes, very good. That is, if you were going for secluded." Lurana said as Mei Linn elbowed Wufei for not saying anything. Sally and Catherine were coming up to Relena's defense about the idea of a vacation. 'In other words,' Elyn and Heero thought at the same time, 'chaos in motion.'
"QUIET!!!" Noin and Sally yelled together. Elyn and Heero winced. Relena snuck away from the fight and hid behind Heero. The boys stopped in a comical fashion; Dead stop. Zechs merely shook his head and smirked.
"Are we going to Michigan or are we going to waste Relena's vacation time?" Dorthy asked as if she wasn't a part of the fight.
*Sweat drops all around*
"Fine, let's go to the boone docks."-Duo of course.
Relena spotted Heerp's expression and agreed, 'Why me?'

South Haven, Allegan County, Michigan...
"Well? We're here. ... Now what?" Duo mumbled as he pulled in to the gas station. The van was packed. In the front was Duo driving, then Elyn and Lurana. Behind them, was Heero, Relena, and Mei Linn. Behind them, were Dorhty, Quatre, and Catherine. Trowa and Wufei and Sally were in the minivan with Zechs driving and Noin riding shotgun.
"This is a quaint little town.." Sally said as she got out. Wufei grunted in agreement. In the van, Relena rolled her eyes and sighed. 'I was going to ask Heero only.' Heero looked and her and rolled his eyes exasperatedly. She smiled; He was annoyed too. They were practically flung in the van when Duo and the others overheard Relena's idea for a vacation.
"Well, Relena. Where to first?" Duo and Jesse asked together.
"Well, how about the beach? This town has two very large ones." she asked as the others piled out of the vans.
"Sounds good, everyone? To the beach!" Noin yelled out as she off- loaded the beach gear.

The beach was empty. Better for them, as Duo put it. The water was gently lapping the beach. The storm before they arrived had brought up the seashells and water life up from the bottom of the humongous lake. This was the largest lake that Relena had ever seen. Heero and Elyn seemed to enjoy it a bit too. Relena was racing Catherine and Dorthy across the sands as Lurana and Quatre bulit a sand castle. Wufei, Trowa, and Jesse, and Mei Linn were playing Volleyball a little to competitive for Zechs's and Noin's liking. They were soaking in the shallows. Duo, Heero and Elyn were diving off the pier.
"Hey Relena! Watch this as I beat Heero's diving record!" Duo taunted as he prepared to dive. Heero however, had other plans.
"Ommf! Ack!" *Spaloooosh!*
"Hn, Heero... Don't you know that's my thing?" Elyn asked him sarcastically.
He shrugged. "On the count of three?"
"One." she challenged.
"Two, thr-"
"Three!!!" And she back kicked him off the pier.
*PALOOOSSHHH!!!* Heero had fallen with his back towards the water. He showed Elyn the not-pleasant-finger and jumped back up onto the pier. Elyn however had already swan-dived off. Duo was there to try and dunk her. Repeat, Try.
"Hey guys!" Dorthy called out as they headed back into shore. "How about we get something to eat?"
"Sounds good." Quatre said. Dorthy reveled in his praise in the idea. She glomped his arm as they headed downtown.
"Hey, can we get some icecream?" Duo and Jesse asked as one as they passed a place called 'Sherman's Dairy'.
"Well? How about it guys?" Zechs asked as he took their expressions as yes or no. Most were neutral. Wufei and Mei Linn didn't want to. Duo and Jesse wanted to definately.
"Well lets go there after dinner," Noin suggested. Everyone agreed. After going to a resturant called 'Big Boy's' they walked back over to the ice cream shop. By the time they got to it, it was night time, a full moon shone through the cool clear sky. Strangely enough, it was open.
The shop was almost deserted. Only the shop keeper and an elderly old woman sitting at the counter were present.
"Welcome, what will it be?" the shop keeper questioned them as they came in.
"Well, I'll have a Vanila shake. Noin?" Zechs questioned her as she came up next to him.
"The same. But I don't know about the others."
"Alright, and yours is just the two of you? Or are you paying for theirs' as well?"
"I'll buy for the rest Zechs," Relena said. Catherine tried to warn her about Duo but she walked up to the counter before she could say anything.
"Alright, ... Well! Congratulations, you are the millionth customer this year! You get this weeks special flavor of icecream for free!"
Relena's eyes widened. She never had won anything before. This was new. "Well guys? Do you want your own or do you want to get the free deal?"
Duo and Jesse didn't care, and neither did the others. Heero and Elyn wore confused expressions on their faces as if they had never had icecream before. Wufei and his Sister shrugged. If they were there, they might as well get free stuff, was there body language.
"Alright, we'll have the week's special flavor then. Oh, ...What is the flavor anyway?"
"Blue moon deary," the old woman spoke in a weathered old voice. She cackled when Heero and Elyn stared at her suspiciously. They frowned at that and stiffened, they never seemed to trust elderly after the war.
"Blue moon?" Duo and Jesse asked.
"Why yes children, Blue Moon. It's a flavor that the owners of Sherman's Dairy have kept secret for generations. Do you want to hear the story that goes with it?"
"Most of the group shrugged in the affirmative. Heero and Elyn relaxed their stance while Wufei grumbled about old bitties that couldn't shut up.
"Well, it all started thousands of years ago. In the 21st century." The Yuy twins' eyes widened in respect of the time passed. The sat down with the others in reseptive silence.
"Yes, this dairy has been around for that long. The legend is that if you eat Blue Moon icecream During the Blue moon, you will become youthful in memory and size. This is how it came to be however. Long ago, a young girl, from Allegan, Michigan came to this shop at night. She was the same age as you are I beleive. It was closed, but the shop keeper was just leaving. The girl was soaked to the bone, it had rained that day so the shop keeper took pity on her and asked her to come in for some hot fudge or something sweet. The girl had only asked for one thing. 'A blue moon sundae please' was her reply to the shop keeper's kind words. So, the keeper gave her the ice cream. She thanked the shop keeper and left, never to be heard from again. Three years later, a younger girl came to the shop one afternoon, when the business was slow. She looked just like the young woman that came their before. However, since it had been so long ago sice the keeper had seen the young woman, she didn't recocnize her. When the keeper asked her what she wanted, she asked the same thing,'A blue moon sundae please'. And the shop keeper gave it to her. when she was finished the little girl fell asleep on the table. The shop keeper decided to let her sleep until the shop closed. When she turned towards the little girl, the young woman was there instead. The shop keeper questioned the girl when she woke. The girl simply smiled, and told her that she was the little girl. It took 3 years for her to get back here, but she did. She told the keeper that the flavor Bluemoon had changed her into that child. No one knows this tale to be true today, but it is a blue moon tonight, so who knows? Maybe you will find out what the ravings of the girl mean." She cakled as the shop keeper came up to the table with their Sundaes.
"Weird old lady," Wufei remarked as she went on her way. Most of the group nodded. When the shop keeper came up, they all stared at the color of the sundaes. Blue. Duo and Jesse wringed their hands together and picked up their spoons with glee. Heero and Elyn merely stared at theirs when everyione else had at least tasted their own.
"What's the matter Heero? Never had ice cream before?" Duo kidded as Jesse elbowed Elyn playfully.
"...Uh, no." was the twin's reply.
*Sweat drops all around*
"Never?" Relena asked, shocked.
Heero and Elyn squirmed uncomfortably in their chairs."No."
Duo and Jesse gawked at them as if they had grown wings. Even Wufei's eyebrows went up.
"Well, then chow down Ellie," Duo said as Jesse nudged them to pick up their spoons and dig in.
"Just don't eat it to fast. Brain freeze." Catherine and Dorthy chimed in.
The twins dipped in their spoons lightly, and ate it slowly. Elyn's eyes widened slightly. Heero looked at her the same way. However, and to Duo's dissapointment, they ate the same speed as before. But with less aprehension.
When everyone was finished, they checked into the closest motel. Girls in one room, boys in the other.
Little did they know, the sky turned stormy when they were all asleep.

The next morning, ...
Heero woke up at 5:30. He felt strange, as if he had had deja vu. Something wasn't right. He got up, went to the bathroom and blinked. Either he had shrunk, or the motel grew over night. Both couldn't be possible. He walked in andstepped infront of the mirror. He couldn't reach it. So he grumbled about stupid americans growing to tall for their own good and got the desk chair and set it up. When he got on he stared at the reflection for a moment.
"... ..... Gaaaaaaaahhhh!!!" a small boy was standing there! Where his reflection should have been. He moved his hands around his face, felling it to make sure it was his. It was.
"Whas the madur Hewo?" Duo came up behind him rubbing sleep out of his eyes.
"Dwo, I'm, I'm a kid!" a child's wail replaced his usually calm tones.
"Wha? Wut you talkin 'bout? ... Gaaaaah! You are a kid!"
"I ain't the onwy one."
Duo looked in the mirror, and shreiked. A short, long haired toddler was standing next to a short strong looking brown haired tot. They stared at eachother and then ran out into the room. Everyone else was changed too. That is, except for Zechs.
"Zex! Zex!" Duo wailed as Heero woke the others. Quatre woke up and blinked sleepily,"Hewo, wat is, ... Aaak!!" He fell off the bed with a small thump.
"Qwuiet! I wuz seepin!" Wufei growled in a chibi voice. He squeaked afterwards, completely in shock. Trowa woke after Wufei's cry. He merely blinked, stared at everyone, and tried to leave the room.
"Zeexxxx!!!" Duo bellowed in Zech's ear. If that didn't get him up, Heero thought, nothing would.
"Daaaah!!!" *thump* "What Duo!? what is...going [size]on?"
"We are kids!" Heero yelled in his face. This alone scared him senseless. Heero yelling? Duo and everyone as a toddler? What was going on?
"Oh, no!" Heero gasped."The gurlz!" and started to assist Trowa in opening the door.

Elyn POV
... Yawn. She woke up faster then the others so she stayed quiet. She walked into the bathroom and did a double take. The mirror showed a little brown haired girl with blue eyes. Her.
'Ok, now. Don't need to panic' she thought to herself. Elyn closed her eyes and counted to ten. Opening them, her face paled. 'Now I can panic.' "Aaaaaaah!"
All the other girls woke up and ran to the noise. They barely reached Elyn when she disappeared before their eyes. Relena and Catherine squeaked in shock. Dorthy and Mei Linn widened their eyes. Then, all of them stared at one another, and screamed in unison. Noin fell out of the bed with a yelp.
Outside of the door...
Heero and Trowa had opened their door and flew to the girls' when, Elyn appeared above their heads out of nowhere, and dropped on Heero.
"Ouch! Elwyn!"
"Hewo? Hewo!!!!" And she glomped him fiercely. Trowa went to the door and tried to open it. But Catherine beat him to it, glomping him after staring at how short he was. Relena followed her out and spotted Elyn and Heero. "Hewo? Oh, ther yu are Elwn. Hewo we aw little!" she sobbed. Elyn got up and pulled Heero over to Relena. " 'Wena? Hold onto Hewo while I go find Dwo." And pulled Relena into Heero with a yank on her arm. Heero exclaimed at Elyn's comment and was going to yell at her, but Relena and him collided, they went tumbling to the ground. Relena was ontop of Heero's chest. Heero blinked and glared at the moving form of his twin into the boys' room.
Elyn walked in and ran to Duo when she saw him. He was trying to figure out what happened to his, uh... shorts.
Elyn glanced into the other part of the room and spotted Zechs. "How cum you didn't change?"
"Huh? Did everyone change?! Where's Noin?"
"Here." She panted as she carried four sobbing girls into the room. Dorthy, Mei Linn, Lurana, and Jesse. Mei Linn and Dorthy were looking more furious than scared.
"Wut da Hel Happin?!" Heero yelled over the others wailing. Relena was clinging to his arm almost painfully. Everyone quieted down.

Elyn POV

'Ok, now. Don't need to panic' she thought to herself. Elyn closed her eyes and counted to ten. Opening them, her face paled. 'Now I can panic.' "Aaaaaaah!"
All the other girls woke up and ran to the noise. They barely reached Elyn when she disappeared before their eyes. Relena and Catherine squeaked in shock. Dorthy and Mei Linn widened their eyes. Then, all of them stared at one another, and screamed in unison. Noin fell out of the bed with a yelp.
Outside of the door...
Heero and Trowa had opened their door and flew to the girls' when, Elyn appeared above their heads out of nowhere, and dropped on Heero.
"Ouch! Elwyn!"
"Hewo? Hewo!!!!" And she glomped him fiercely. Trowa went to the door and tried to open it. But Catherine beat him to it, glomping him after staring at how short he was. Relena followed her out and spotted Elyn and Heero. "Hewo? Oh, ther yu are Elwn. Hewo we aw little!" she sobbed. Elyn got up and pulled Heero over to Relena. " 'Wena? Hold onto Hewo while I go find Dwo." And pulled Relena into Heero with a yank on her arm. Heero exclaimed at Elyn's comment and was going to yell at her, but Relena and him collided, they went tumbling to the ground. Relena was ontop of Heero's chest. Heero blinked and glared at the moving form of his twin into the boys' room.
Elyn walked in and ran to Duo when she saw him. He was trying to figure out what happened to his, uh... shorts.
Elyn glanced into the other part of the room and spotted Zechs. "How cum you didn't change?""Huh? Did everyone change?! Where's Noin?"
"Here." She panted as she carried four sobbing girls into the room. Dorthy, Mei Linn, Lurana, and Jesse. Mei Linn and Dorthy were looking more furious than scared.
"Wut da Hel Happin?!" Heero yelled over the others wailing. Relena was clinging to his arm almost painfully. Everyone quieted down.
