[Fic] Heero Gets and Idea ch 1
Posted: Fri Jul 11, 2003 2:35 pm
He sat there with three recently emptied bottles of sake lined up in a row. His fourth was clutched in one hand while the top/cup was clutched in the other. At the age of twenty-two Heero was not usually a man given to drink, but he felt that this occasion warranted a little celebration, or at least some good ol' misery drowning.
Married. She was going to be married. When Relena Darlian had accepted her position as Vice Foreign Minister she had known that eventually she would have to make sacrifices... those were her exact words. She wasn't even trying to fight it, she was just going to let herself be wrapped up like a pretty present and passed on to some stranger from the colonies in order to cement an alliance.
"Really, you all are making entirely too much out of this," Relena had said to the small assembly of friends and two family memebers (her adoptive mother and her brother) when they broke the news to her as gently as possible. They had been reassuring her that they would find a way out of this.
"An arranged marriage isn't such a bad thing. From all acounts I've heard the young man I'm supposed to be marrying is decent, gentlemanly, and well-behaved. I'm sure things will work out just fine. My own mother had an arranged marriage to my father and they both loved each other dearly. I'm sure that given time I will grow an affection for him."
"What about true love?" Quatre had questioned.
"This is politics," Relena had countered. "Forget the mumbo jumbo about the binding of hearts, be sensible. Marriage is a legal contract first and foremost."
"But Miss Relena-"
But her mind had been made up, according to Duo who was there. She knew that people needed a symbol of peace and stability to put their hearts at ease so she was detirmined to give them one and nothing anyone culd say or do was going to convince her that she didn't have to marry some strange man she'd never met for the sake of peace. She was ready to do her duty, being born to a position of influence and responsibility meant she had an obligation. Relena, being the responsible type had never been one to turn her back on her responsibilities out of selfishness. That was one of the things he liked and admired about her.
<Married,> he thought, frowning at his sake.
Heero had spent so much of his time after the wars guarding her from the shadows, he followed her from meeting to meeting, on every shutttle trip and gala speech event or political function. He knew how she moved, how she thought and her every little mannerism right down to the way she'd tilt he head to one side and nibble on her bottom lip while she was thinking, to the way her flyaways liked to escape from her chignon when the wind blew. True, the subject he was guarding had tried to shoo him off, telling him that he needed to find another purpose for his life other than endless fighting... but that was immaterial.
Heero saw things now with the kind of clarity only a few bottles of good sake could bring. She didn't love this bloke from another colony, she loved him. And Heero hadn't spent all of this time watching over her just to have her stolen out from under him by some spoiled rich boy who couldn't possibly protect her as well as Heero could.
That was when Heero got An Idea.
It was the kind of daring escapade that could only occur to someone staring at the bottom of his fourth bottle of sake. Any normal, rationally thinking man would have immediately dismissed such foolishness as belonging in the movies rather than something to actually be attempted. But who ever said Heero was normal?
Deciding that now was the time to strike, while they were all least expecting it (to be more accurate, no one in their right minds was expecting anything at all to happen so guards and security were at a minimum) Heero stumbled onto his feet, left a wad of bills on the table and wobbled out of the bar. Of course it had to be raining outside, a nice sluicing rain that had him soaked to the skin in seconds which in this case may have worked more for him than against him because it also had the effect of sobering him up just a little.
He knew her security system like the back of his hand, and he could get past it even mostly drunk and weaving back and forth on unsteady legs. Motion deter cameras? No problem, a little remote controlled mouse would concentrate all their attention for just long enough. Estate hounds? Heero had trained all of them himself. Lock to the kitchen door? He had the codes. After all, only a second-rate theif used the windows. He wobbled his unsteady way through the hallways, sticking to the shadows and trying not trip over the two extra feet he'd grown.
At last, his destination was reached. The bedroom of Relena Darlian with its built0in office and small recieving room lay open before him. And there sleeping in her bed without a single fear of late-night visitors, lay his prize already nicely wrapped up in a white sleeping gown with a high waist and spaghetti straps.
She awoke with a start, when he accidentally hiccupped. She sat up and looked over at him in bewilderment.
"Heero? What are you doing here?" she asked after blinking in surprise and then pinching herself.
"Re-le-na," he said with a contented look. He still felt a little dizzy from all of the alcohol he'd consumed earlier but as usual, things became both a little more clear and a little more confusing in her presence. Why was he here again? Oh yes, now he remembered...
"I thought I told you to go out and make a nice peaceful life for yourself," she said severly. "I'm not working myself to the bone day and night for you to continue acting like a soldier. You're supposed to be getting in touch with your inner self and stuff like that."
"Shometimesh, you talk too mush. I'm acting on my emotionsh, sho there fore... Ano... therefore... I forgot."
Relena looked at him, soaked through and through, weaving on his feet, and not talking in his usual blunt manner and came to the obvious conclusion.
"Heero, you're drunk."
"I'm feeling perfectly ooookaaaay. I'm sheeing thingsh very conshishly," he said as he detoured round the open space in the middle of the room while trying to keep his balance on the floor that seemed to be shifting underneath him.
"You're drunk and you need to be in bed sleeping it off," she told him, getting ready to climb out of bed and help him onto her couch where she could take off his boots and cover him with a blanket so he could pass out peacefully.
"Not until I get what I came for," he said softly. Relena looked at him suspiciously. And even when he was completely sloshed his reflexes were still quick enough have her wrapped up in her down comforter like a pig in a blanket and thrown over his shoulder a-la firemans hold before she could make a noise of protest.
In this instance, the window was actually the swiftest way out so he slipped out through the french doors and fell into a two story drop. Heero was glad that the down blanket muffled Relena's screams for a short second later he was meeting the ground with his knees flexed. Not one of his better landings, but not bad. He had taken especial care that the precious bundle preched on his shoulder would take no shocks.
A half heatbeat after ascertaining that he had landed well and his Relena was unharmed, he was running for the perimeter, the leap over the wrought iron fence was of no moment, and he slipped into the shadows of the night with a struggling Relena on his shoulder.
"Heero! Heero, damn you let me go! You put me down this instant!" she demanded, squirming against the confines of the blanket. "Heero this is most undignified! Hee-ro!"
"It'sh alright Relena," he reassured her, keeping a close lookout. There was no one about at this time of morning thankfully or he might just have been found in a very compromising position.. "We'll be there in jusht another minnit."
*
Relena gave up struggling and decided to conserve her energies and wait until an opportunity to escape presented itself. After what seemed like an interminable amount of time spent bouncing on his shoulder, Relena was brought out of the rain. There was the sound someone sliding their identacard into a reader slot followed by the sound of a six digit code being entered into a key pad and then the soft metalic snik of three locks clicking over. A door was opened, then shut behind them.
"Heero what on Earth do you think you are doing? Are you out of your mind? You put me down right this instant!" she said, not sounding dignified or commanding while bundled in a blanket squirming on his shoulder.
Relena was tossed with casual strength onto the extra firm matress of a bed. She managed to disentangle herself from the down comforter only to be joined in bed by heero. He was soaked to the skin in his tight denim jeans and top and so drunk his eyes looked like they were having trouble focusing.
"Re-le-na," he murmured looking down at her from whee he hovered over her and carressing the sides of her face.
"Heero," she said caringly. "You're soaked. You should dry off. Come on now, let me find you a towel. You just sit right here there's a good boy."
She tried to gently disengage herself from him so she could put some space between them but he instead curled his arms around her and nuzzled his head into her shoulder. Apparently space was the last thing on his mind as she was gently and insistantly pressed back into the bed by his weight. Once they were supine he dragged her closer to him so he could get comfortable with his hard won prize. Relena noted as she eventually gave up the futile struggle with her drunken and apparently now-uninhibited pilot that even though the wars had been over for years his body was still in top physical condition; entirely hard muscle and his arms were like two steel bands. One of those arms was slung across her chest then crooked up on the bed beside her shouder the other traveled under her body, curling round her waist with his hand resting on her hip. He had a leg slung across her legs and his face buried in the base of her neck.
"Heero, come now. Enough of this," she said in her best stern mother voice. "I know you're having trouble adjusting to peace but kidnapping me in the middle of the night while you're inebriated is not the correct way to go about finding your center."
"Mmmmm, you smell like strawberries," he murmured as he nuzzled up from the base of her neck and began to suckle on her earlobe before kissing along her jaw. Her heart was hammering in her chest as she closed her eyes lost in the swirl of sensations like a slow heat that made her crave something far more than she'd ever craved anything. Even more than cherry-chocolate truffles!
"Heero," she breathed. As his hands began to caress he along the sides of her thin waists causing her nipples to harden in anticipation. His weight no longer felt like a cage to keep her down, instead she was aware of every delightfull inch of him that was in contact with her. her skin tingled even as the moisture from his wet clothing soaked into her nightgown making the thin material stick to her like a second skin. A see-through second skin. She wriggled a little closer as she felt heat the most beautifull heat rousing in her core. "Heero..."
"Re-le-na..." she felt his weight rest almost completely on her body and his head lay down on her breast. After a moment Relena wriggled, she wanted him to do something about the passion he'd just gone to great lengths to awaken!
All that she heard for the next few minutes was the steady even sound of his breathing. He'd just passed out! She could have killed him. Twice.
She lay there in his bed, still tangled in his possesive embrace, fuming. She'd been half in love and half out of love with him forever then when she decidedes to do what's good for her and marry herself to a proper husband for the sake of peace he goes and pulls a stunt like this. Then, he has the gall to pass out just when things are getting interesting! The jerk.
<He didn't even pause to consider MY feelings, he just up and carries me off slung over his shoulder like some Viking captive no less,> she thought as she lay there, simmering with anger. His transgressions were many and his excuses few. <And who ever said I needed him anyway? I can take care of myself dammit! I've BEEN taking care of myself! I have a stable career that's important, I've put myself through school, I have a doctorate, hell, I have a high ranked position in the Unisphere government! I've survived everything from political intrigues to assassination attempts and where the hell does this man come off just up and dragging me to his room in the middle of the night? For all the tact and sensitivity he displayed, he could have been a neanderthal who'd just come up and bashed me over the head with his club and me dragged off by the hair?! I am an educated woman dammit! I have a career and a life all of my own, and he just comes riding up in his white horse and thinks I'm just going to fall swooning into his arms like some princess in a cheesy romance? And I'm supposed to be grateful to him for this? "Here I am, strong, handsome, brave and shouldn't you feel so flattered that I, in all of my glory, have deigned to choose you for my mate?" Grrrrrrr. I'll just bet he thinks he can just waltz on in here, sweep me literally off my feet and I'll just turn my back on all of my resposibilities and... and what? Run away with him?>
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. <He wasn't even thinking about how I would feel at all! He just assumed that he could carry me off and I'd be only too happy to let him!> That thought alone sent a sharp jolt of anger frissioning down her spine. The sheer presumption. Yes, she had feelings for him but those feelings were not the be-all and end-all of her world. She had a lot of other things she held in consideration as well. Not least among those was how this midnight romp might affect her career if word got out. The effect would likely be negligable right now as Relena was young, single and free to love or not love as she would...but Relena had been considering a marriage-alliance just a few days ago, even if she had yet to send her reply to the suitor. If she had already sent an affirmative and Heero had pulled this same stunt, the effects could have been disasterous for her. She would have been percieved as having broke her given word by enjoying the charms of another while she had promised herself to one. She could have lost face! In the world she lived in, losing face was as bad if not worse than actually acting dishonorably. Her entire career could have been irrevocably damaged. It hadn't been, but that was not the point. The point was he had casually assumed that he could do as he pleased without regard to how she might feel about it or how it might affect her. The sheer nerve of the man!
And the fact that her body had betrayed her by responding to him in an undeniable manner that she was not accustomed to only made her angrier. Relena had carefully witheld from involving herself with another because she'd been so busy with her career and with her education and with her precious peace building that she hadn't had time. At least that was what she told herself. The truth was, she was to nervous and too self-enclosed to want to initiate the circituous and unsteady dance of courtship, and too shy to respond to any other hesitant overtures. Her first kind-of kiss hadn't been on the lips! Damn him! ANd damn her body while she was at it for reacting to it and wanting more. He had be taught a lesson. He couldn't just carry her off and without a thought for her feelings or how it would affect her and not get some kind of justice. She wasn't just going to roll over and let him get away with his treatment of her!
That just left one thing to do since Relena wasn't the type of person who did not desire any kind of open displays of anger. Why get mad when getting even was so much more fun? A slow devilish smile wrapped around her face and it was a good thing that Heero was asleep for if he had seen it, it just might have taught him how to feel fear.
<Oh, he's really really going to deserve this,> she thought connivingly as she sat in the dark to plan.

A.N. I've just posted my very first fanfiction outside of the Gundam Wing fandom on Blissful Ignorance's Van and Hitomi corner. If it's not too much trouble pop on by and read it (and perhaps tell me what you think). Okay, enough shameless plugging from me. I hope you enjoyed my fic.
