Introduction: AOD

I have duel motives for posting this....

1) I need to get it off my compy at work and the ftp socket is blocked.
2) I'd like to know how well it explains things.

This is mine and Stella's "baby". We may run it on Blissful sometime in the future, but not in the near future. I'm interested in finding out what people think. Does it catch your attention? What questions do you have? Would you want to read the story that follows?

Introduction

In the future history of mankind, a devastating global war collapsed the World Government and left much of the planet unable to support life. Referred to by some as the Apocalypse, survivors with the means and resources left the Earth in search of a new home.

It was not a concerted effort. Private citizens bought ships and sold their fortunes for precious stores of food. They enlisted the help of pioneers of space travel, called Celestial Guards, to lead them to new planets. And still much of the universe remained uncharted.

Those left behind on Earth gathered in the few livable areas, and dug makeshift underground homes to prepare for a dark, endless winter.

Years later, a group of salvage scientists began work on a clean-up project to take back the planet. Several aboveground cities were 'liberated', but the populations who settled them were lawless. And savage. A group of warriors rumored to be descendents of the Samurai brought order to the land.

Salvage scientists and soldiers formed an alliance in the best interest of restoring the planet and mankind.

They became the government of Earth.

They became the Kuroi.

But, yes. I am intrigued. Very, actually. Sad a bit that it won't be out soon, but it looks really nifty. Or sounds really...It....sounds or looks....It does something that makes me ant to read it.

I'm involved with things that delve deeply into the minds of the writer, and how well the writer makes the world his/her own. I REALLY look forward to this.

Well, this has been in the works more or less for 2 years now. It's kind of a large project, and an original one (hence the forum), but we have a serious problem in that our fanfics end up absorbing most of our free time. So, we're trying (again) to strike a balance. We've had some fanartists sketch our main characters for us, mostly Kai. Rachel is considering doing the first chapter as a manga for us, so we're trying to get back in gear. The problem with sci-fi, though, is you have to invent the universe. And universe we have invented. Including a method of travel to solar systems and planets light years away. And planets. And characters. And I think we have the universe together, finally. We had written a chapter 1 and part of chapter 2 about a year ago, but since then have revamped a few of the finer details. We're hoping to spend some time really really soon to look over our last set of notes and what we had written thus far.

Biggest problem: we CAN but are not so good at just writing to read it ourselves. We like hearing what people think. However, since this is an original project we wish to publish, we're sort of hesitant to just be posting it freely about on the net. I want to stop having to take on these soulless, pointless, short term tech writing contract things where I have to drive an hour to and from work everyday, but the only way I can do that is to pay off at least one of the cars, and my credit card debt. OR to sell enough books to compensate me as well as the soulless, pointless tech writing contract things. Selling books is a waaaaaaaaaaaaay better option.

Well, it's merely an introduction. And you don't have to say you want to read it if you don't really. We want honest feedback. Stella and I think the story has potential as this sweeping science fiction series, but maybe we're wrong. But anyway, this is just the starting point, or how we get to the starting point of ch 1, anyway. We wanted people to know who is the government of Earth, and generally how they came to power. Why people left the Earth. Why it's in the state it's in. The bit about the Samurai is an important piece later, when we get to our main character, Kai, and several of the others like him. And FYI, Kuroi means darkness, so they're not going to be the nicest guys, hint hint.

I don't know how deep it goes into mine or Stella's mind. I think we both lost ours ages ago. *taps head and it sounds hollow* See?

But it is enormously plot driven, and a detailed, extensive storyline. Because Stella and I just can't write anything simple and short. *sigh*

We've toyed with the idea of making it an AU GW fanfic, but I dunno. We've gotten attached to our original characters. We just feel a little like we're floundering in the dark with a tiny keyring flashlight, and could probably use a little push, er, encouragement, if it's a worthwhile storyline. If not, we should just scrap it and move on to Of Men and Matrimony, and the live-action GW scripts.

Sounds very promising. Hope to see more of it, rose! Although I'd love to see it as an GW fic, I think I'd like it better as an original. Well, I think you put enough on the prologue to keep the reader interested and wanting to read more.

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I've been under the weather lately.

But here are some questions I have for you, Rose and Stella:

I am assuming since you have Earth in there, that this is our (as in: what we are now living in) galaxy? Or are you two going to make up (or have already) a new galaxy where you can create these uncharted or new planets?

How long had it been before people came to their senses and tried to start a new order in the land?

You mentioned Samurai: "the Samurai" as you put it: were these warriors said to be of great importance before the "Apocalypse"? If so, did they try to lead the people when the Apocalypse rolled about, or did they merely sit back and take no control in the time of panic?

By what means did the Sam's (yes. I'm abbreviating. ^__^) reclaim order?

Was this a day and age where men and women felt no compassion for their fellow man, leaving some behind on Earth? Or was the cost far too great? To stretch that thought further: Will the new order try to help those enclosed in the darkness, or figure them as insane rabid weasles that can't deal?

Those were my questions. ^__^ I used my brain, Rose!!!! I USED MY BRAIN! *sobs* Aren't you proud?

Thanks Melrose! I think I said before that we conceived it as an original story, then have made only so much progress on it, so that we've toyed with the idea of making it a GW fic just so we could be more motivated to write it. As much as we may complain about the threats, at least we know people are reading. It drives us because we are driven alot on our own, but a lot out of a dedication to our readers as well.

I certainly made me want to hunt you down so I can find out more about this fic.

Yes. I know that was an either/or, but the story is set in mostly another portion of the universe, yet is still ties back to the Earth. So, we have a slew of planets that we invented/created, but the Earth is also involved.

Hmmmm, good question. We intended to write a prequel to where our story, Angels of Darkness: Chronicles begins, however, at this time the only things I can tell you about that story are about the last great queen Alaricia Miroslav.

They played a part. What part and how large of one has yet to be determined, and really isn't important to this story at this time. It may be explained later, or if not, in the prequel.

"Legend has it that within the Kuroi Organization, there exists 7 cybernetically enhanced men called Enjeru, like the 7 archangels from Biblical history. And they are the universe's most deadly assassins."

And shall I give you the "high concept idea"?

In a universe where technology is the only God, the Order of the Kuroi rules with an iron fist. Faith is outlawed, hope no longer exists, and love is forbidden. But a dying planet on the edge of the universe may hold the key to the greatest secret mankind has never known.

hmn.
oh... this sounds like a lot of work.

my fondness for sci-fi has re-grown immensely as of late.
all of the stories are so intricate, it's aweing.
the dozens of themes can sometimes just bury you, yah know

but i believe you both can do it. :razz:
i really think it's an advantage that you can't seem to pull anything off simple. cuz it doesn't seem like any good sci-fi's are. the more complicated, the better. just not too much to cause headaches...

i've asked MBF this before

what exactly inspired this?

i'm all for it though! i wanna find out what main theme pops up. and like MBF, I wanna see how u both create this world. cuz it's soo different to look into your minds rather than talking or looking at yah--as I see it.
