(Poem) The One Thing I'd Say

Okay... This is my first poem posted here! :D

The original poem was written several months ago, when I was in emotional turmoil over my unfortunate (yet fortunate) circumstances with my (first real) crush. After looking at it again, I decided to modify it to fit Heero's point of view of his relationship with Relena and...viola!

Enjoy!

The One Thing I?d Say

If there was one thing that I could say to you
I?d say this:
I love you

I laugh at myself
I?ve fallen in love with you
Someone who?d never love me back
The way I desperately want you to

You are the anchor that keeps me in reality
The one who gives me hope
In a world full of conflict
And people who wouldn?t think twice
Of shattering the peace we gave so much for

The one thing I?d say to you can never be said
There is a line that can never be crossed
Between the two of us
How I desperately wish that weren?t the case

You keep me going
You keep me from going on a path of self-destruction
You know me so well
Yet you don?t know me at all

You don?t know I love you so much

Fate must be laughing now
At the predicament I?m in
Must be laughing
At the fool I am

I love you so much
I love you for the person you are
The compassionate, gentle-hearted girl
I?ve known for so many years
The inspiring woman you have become
For so long I never realized
That I had lost my heart to you

I can never tell you how I feel
You can never love someone with so much blood on his hands
You have no idea how much that hurts
How much it stings
To know that the one you love
Can never love you back

You are the symbol of Peace
I am the sword in which one wields
You are a princess
I am a soldier
How can we be together
When we?re doomed to despair?

Fate is gracious
To have given me the chance to be beside you
Fate is kind
To have given me this hope
Fate is cruel
To have given me this pain

The one thing I?d say
Can never be said
How I desperately wish
That wasn?t the case

But I can be content
With what we have
Just so I can be close to you
Loving you from so near
Yet loving you from so far away

That was beautiful! *grabs a tissue*
I love how you were able to change it around to Heero's point of view. I'm glad that you said that it was unfortunate and fortunate. Believe me, I've had the same thing. Well, had is a bad word. Still happening! haha..anyway. Please write another one!
*grabs the whole damn tissue box* wahh...so beautiful...

Go right on ahead! I don't mind!

The original...?? It's actually a rather private poem, and but the poem I put up here retains almost 90% of the original content, so it's really similar. :D What is written in original only shall remain a mystery to you all...

Aw that was really sweet, I could feel Heero's anguish and his emotions reflect real life so well! Even without the complications of the princess and soldier, this story is told many times. Great job, I can't wait for more.
