Dream or Reality? (Part 2)

Spike slowly limped to the dusty window and wiped it with his hand. There was still a significant amount left, so Spike blew it off. Dust particles scattered across the air. Some formed deformed clouds and others landed on Spike. He sneezed loudly and rubbed his nose. Not one to let himself be beaten by something so minute, Spike put his face up against the window, in defiance. His gaze shifted from the crowded streets below to the windows of a run down building across the street. He did not recognize the area but much of Mars looked the same.
"Where the hell am I," Spike asked.
He slowly walked across the tiled floor to the bathroom. Duty called.
"You're clear for takeoff Faye," Jet said as he flipped the magnetic field switch to the off position.
The Red Tail jetted off the Bebop runway and disappeared in the horizon. The sun was setting and the sky was astonishing. An array of red, orange, yellow, and blue created a unique beauty that only life would savor.
Jet sat at the controls of the Bebop, pondering what the future would hold. He didn't want to think of Spike, his absence demoralized Jet. He lit a cigarette and smoke snaked out of the tip.
"Do I quit," he asked himself.
Not even realizing he would be heard, Ed, followed by Ein, entered in time to catch the rhetorical question. They appeared without reason or question. Being the acrobat she was, Ed hand walked to Jet's side. She looked up to him as Jet looked down at her.
"Jet wants to leave Bebop," she questioned.
Ein barked and rolled on the ground. A long period of silence followed. Jet eventually stood up from his chair, closely followed by Ed and Ein, and began to exit the cockpit. He looks back down at Ed and smiles weakly.
"How the hell did you get here," Jet asked in shock. "I thought we left you at Earth?"
"Silly, Ed came back because Ed loves the Bebop. Ed and Ein were bored so we came to see you," she said.
"Amazing, well what do you want," Jet asked asked as if everything was normal.
"Jet wants to leave the Bebop," she repeated.
"No Ed but without Spike things sure will be different."
"Without Spike," Ed repeated slighty confused. "Spike went bye-bye?"
Jet walked out the door, restraining his emotions and faintly said, "yeah Ed, Spike went bye-bye."
Faye jumped out of the Red Tail. The streets were cold and silent. Only the homeless and lights from surrounding buildings made it feel a little more comfortable. She set her sights on a bar at the corner of the block and stepped in. Little did she know that it was the same bar Spike and Jet had been in only a few days ago.
Despite it being riddled with bullet holes, there still were a few people there. The majority of them were drinking, smoking, and playing poker. Smoke created an in-door haze, which unexpectedly burned Faye's eyes. She cautiously walked to the counter and waited for the bartender to ask her what she wanted. The men in the bar grew quiet and stared at Faye and wanted to get better aquainted with her. One of the men grew brave and started to walk up to her. Faye looked at the man and pulled out her gun.
"Take one more step and I'll blow it off," Faye snarled and pulled the hammer back.
The man raised his hands into the air and slowly walked away from Faye. He smiled a toothless grin and sat down. The men he sat down with laugh heartily and went back to playing poker. The mood of the bar had returned. The bartender faced Faye as she put the gun away and turned to face him. They stared at each other for a few moments. Faye's emerald eyes showing the burden of the Spike's disappearance quite clearly. The bartender's dark brown eyes seemed calm and ready for whatever the future held for him.
Faye ordered rum on the rocks. The bartender poured it and served it professionally. Faye sipped on it and watched with vigilant eyes the surroundings she had placed herself in. She slowly pulled out her gun and as the bartender came to check on her. She leaned over and shoved the barrel of the gun into the bartender's chest.
"Look I'm not in the mood," Faye said softly. "Where's the Red Dragon Head
Quarters?"
"It, it's in Tharsis," the bartender said frantically.
"Good," Faye said and paid for her drink and left.
The streets were still as cold and desolent as they were when she had entered the bar. Laughter swells from the bar as Faye reaches the Red Tail. She hopped into her ship and started the engine. Over the hum of the engine, Faye heard a voice from below. She poked her head out and seen the bartender shouting something.
"Wait? I can't hear you," Faye shouted back and killed the engine. "Now, what do you want?"
"You're looking for death. You're friend done the same and look what happened to him."
Disgusted and outraged by what she had heard, Faye pulled out her gun and shot in the bartender's general direction. The bartender fled back to his bar. Faye unloaded the clip and released it. She slumped into the pilot seat and raised her hands to her face. Tears began to form and she cried. She cried until she could cry no more. After her outburst, she restarted the Red Tail. It started to rain.
Spike traveled through the corridors of the hospital. At first, the hospital was vacant but as time went by, more and more people flooded the halls and the more Spike believed he was alive. He passed by people in wheelchairs and crutches. He sat down for a moment and watched a family visit their dying grandfather.
Spike forced himself to stand up and ultimately found a stairway that led to the ground floor. He took the stairs and came to the lobby. To Spike's amazement, there was no one there. He continued on his journey with a shrug and passed a beautiful, blonde nurse working on a computer. He was half-way to the doors when he was stopped by the nurse's hand on his arm.
"Mister, you need to go back to your room. You haven't fully recovered from your injuries yet."
"I'm Fine. Thanks."
He shook off the nurse's hand and began to open the front doors. The nurse, rather quick to her computer, pulled out a tranquilizer. She aimed at Spike's back and pulled the trigger. The dart zipped throuhg the air and dug deep into his back. Spike dropped to the floor as fast as a stone, unaware of what had happened. The nurse ran to Spike and bent down to pick him up. She dragged Spike to a wheelchair.
Rolling back to his room, the nurse whispered, "I'll never let you escape, alive that is Spike. Never."
