Melville?s Best Friend
Fainting was common in the Peacecraft mansion, and Relena, having told herself to get up in her head, got up. It was an easy feat to accomplish, actually. When one faints five or six times a day, one usually can force themselves awake. It just depends on the person. Relena was not one to back down easily. She had ?dreamed a dream? whilst she was under, and it gave her a wicked idea. Not so wicked as crafty, and not so crafty as murderously dangerous, and not so murderously dangerous as it was just all-around scary. Telling herself it was wicked, and omitting the other ?not so much as____ as it is ____? from her mind, she titled her duty a mission, and labeled herself a spy. She herself was not quite right.
For, you see, her plan was to sneak into Duo?s house, find Heero?s computer, and delete the message before he could read it. Convincing herself she knew what she was doing, having seen her friends secretly enter bases all the time, she dawned black garments and headed towards her destination.
However, it was the middle of the day, and the darkness of her apparel added to the strange glares she was receiving driving her pink limo. (Her jeep having gone to the shop only a day in advance) Although she heavily contrasted with her surroundings, and although the car itself stood out like a sloth on a unicycle, she managed to arrive at Duo?s abode with little commotion. (His house being down the street, 2 blocks away)
Yes, it was safe to say that Relena was not ?all together?. But then again, sanity and love don?t go hand in hand. Neither do sanity and panic. It was reasonable to say that Relena was a bit panicked. Having dumped her car in a tree, (literally. She drove the car off the road, and it crashed) she made her way, sneakily, she would say, to Duo?s house.
?Second floor?.? She looked up to Duo?s little house, and smiled, as the only room in the upstairs was the attic, thus, she knew exactly where Heero and his blasted laptop resided.
?Relena?s log, star date?.It?s about noon?..I?ve arrived at the house. All seems to be quiet. I can only assume the subject is asleep on his bed. If this is the case, I will have to be extremely quiet.?
She tripped over a branch, yelling the whole way down. Her tiny recorder managed to pick up the sounds, including some harsh words stated after she had picked herself up.
?NOW, I?ll be quiet. That was just a fluke,? she said to the little devise. She put it in her pocket, and proceeded to climb up the side of Duo?s house to a small open window, which invited any passerby into the attic. To her astonishment, the pipe on which she was climbing was actually holding her weight, and she mentally congratulated herself on how much weight she had lost. (having tried to get in shape for the next time Heero came in to town) When she reached the top, and had managed to stick a foot in the window, she heard an unearthly noise behind her. (It could have been an uncolony?ly noise as well) It was indeed the sound of the pipe unable to bear her weight. Now, picture, if you can, a pipe sliding away from a girl halfway in the window, unable to make a sound for fear she?ll be caught. Lest we forget, she?s in black clothes against a WHITE house, and the creaking could wake up the dead. She stumbled into Heero?s room, having thrown the half of her body closest to the house inside, and stranded with half her body prone to gravity, watching in horror as the pipe tumbled to the ground, making an uncanny resemblance to the noise a deer makes when it?s trying to get its head out of a toaster. She slowly shimmied (why she shimmied is unknown, but it was recorded she shimmied) into the house, and fell in a heap on the floor. She resembled a wad of black gum.
Realizing she was in what she deemed ?the land of no return?, she quickly set about to her task. However, an obstacle obstructed her path. It was wonderfully beautiful, and the light from the window hit it in a holy way, making it look like an angel. She watched it breathe slowly, and felt herself breathing in sync with it, mimicking the contours of its sides as they grew and deflated. She managed to tear her eyes from the figure when she heard loud grunts that could only be described as noises from a nightmare. She averted her gaze from the mirror, and looked in the direction of the noise, to find one, sleeping, Heero Yuy. Her face lit as she smiled at his restless form. She wanted so badly to heal his wounds. His nightmares, she imagined, were demonic, and she would have given her life to help him. She moved in closer in order to see him more clearly. His eyes, closed, mimicked the movement of blinking, and his breathing became shallow and heavy. She lifted her delicate hand to his face to lightly brush a strand of stray hair from his brow. He sighed at her touch. It startled her, and she moved away.
She then remembered she had a mission to accomplish, and set to the task. His computer was at the foot of his bed, and she flew to it swiftly, trying to act as Heero would in a mission?.Without a green tank top and some spandex shorts?actually?.she went to his closet, and found some of his old clothes. Wanting a wonderfully memorable souvenir, she put the clothes on. The shirt was a bit too small for her, as it was a few years old. It snuggled her tiny frame, and rested just above her hips. The pants were too tight as well, but they were spandex, and she found herself not caring. Her old clothes she placed beside her as she once again returned to the computer?..That man always was her role model. She sighed happily until the computer was turned on. Unfortunately, the computer was unable to grant her access, as a little password screen came up.
?No!? she hissed.
Heero made a grunting noise, and she ducked, afraid to move, breathe, or speak. When she realized he was still asleep, she moved back to the computer, and tried to figure out his password.
