Chapter 2

*~*Two weeks prior the Preventer?s meeting?the day of the explosion?*~*//Isera glided to the front of the shuttle to get a good view of the approaching red planet. Her mission was clear; no mistakes were to be made.
?How long until the Development comes into view?? Isera stood in the cockpit of the shuttle; gaze steadily set at the planet ahead. The pilot, a nobody to Isera hired by her superior, answered her in a nervous tone.

?The uh?the uh?the development will come into view in thirty seconds?miss. And then I?ll turn around and head for L1. Edward said that you wouldn?t need my assistance after you leave.? The pilot looked up at the woman whom was now smiling at his remark. ?And he surely won?t need you or your tell-tale shuttle, Dominick.? Dominick turned back around and focused on maneuvering the shuttle for Isera?s departure. His orders were to drop Isera off at the indicated point and head back to the colony.

Isera placed her helmet on her head and turned to leave. But before Dominick could ready the shuttle for her departure, she had already vanished. Dominick turned to tell her the procedure but noticed that she was no where to be found. Dominick rubbed his eyes for a few moments before scanning his shuttle once more. He wasn?t going crazy. The woman just vanished.

?Miss Isera??

Her voice came over the radio.

?Don?t worry about me Dominick. Just leave. No further contact shall be initiated.? Dominick nodded and headed for L1.

Isera floated gracefully towards the red planet and stopped when her target came into view. ?There you are.? She extended her arms in front of her and emitted a thin, but firm shield around herself to hide from the inhabited dome. ?No witnesses.?
When she got close enough to the planet, the plant for the regulation of the dome?s functions came into good view. She needn?t get any closer. Her target was clear as day. It was bigger in person she noted. Satellite pictures didn?t show much. But it didn?t matter to her. She was told to do two things and she was bound to get them done.

She extended her left hand and held back her right, as if she held a bow and arrow. A thin ray of light appeared forming her bow. With her right hand, she grabbed the thin but taught wire and pulled back on it. Focusing on the machinery that dealt with stabilizing the plant and the dome, a swirl of dust collected around the point of release, forming an arrow made of unstable energy. Isera smiled before letting it go.

Like a meteor across the sky, her arrow pierced the dome and hit its target. Within seconds, the development exploded. But through the short lived flames, a civilian shuttle could be seen returning to the destroyed site.
?This will make Edward?s plans even better. Now they have something to keep them looking the other way.?
She turned her attention to the distant shuttle. ?Now to take care of our witnesses.? She leaned forward and headed full speed towards L1. Before passing Dominick?s shuttle, she exerted a burst of fire energy towards it, destroying it completely?//

*~*~*~

The black Townscar pulled up to the front door of the Charles-Henry Estate. The driver opened the back door, allowing Alfonso to exit and make his way up to the mansion. The evening air smelled of rain. ?Rain. Everywhere I go it?s raining. Such a gloomy atmosphere. Well, I hope to change that soon enough, yes I do.?

He made his way down to the lab and looked around the massive space before him. White walls, bright lights, and busy white coats were all he could see. ?Where?s my prize??

Cautiously and curiously he walked into the bright room and looked from wall to wall, hoping that he?d find what he was searching for?for what he?s paid for.

?Excuse me sir. Is there something I can help you with?? A firm hand grabbed his arm. Alfonso looked to the owner of the offending hand. It was a white coat.

?Yes. I?m looking for something Edward Liguori left for me. He said I?d find it here.?

The white coat was first confused, but quickly realized what the man was talking about. ?You?re Alfonso Banuelos, correct??

Alfonso nodded.

?This way.?

The white coat smiled and directed to what seemed to be the back of the lab. Along the way, he saw men in long white coats walking back and forth with trays, folders, and some sitting at desks looking into microscopes?doing god knows what.

?They?re making what you requested. We can?t duplicate anything from her body, but we can take from her and use it to our advantage. The thing is, we?re trying to prolong the lives of what we create. They have a life span of forty-two hours. For some reason, like as if she were being cloned, her cells destroy themselves, as if they have a self-destruct system if they were being put to use without her body?s signal.?

They made their way through a sliding door that opened up to a long, dimly lit hallway.

?We have made one achievement, though.? They walked a few feet away from the lab, and came to a big door that looked like a vault. The white coat punched in a few key codes and within seconds the massive door hissed, opening outward slowly.

They stepped inside, and to Alfonso?s amazement, it looked like they were in a stadium. But all around, there were human-sized pods against the walls, which were to hold his army. But they were all empty.

Alfonso was about to question the white coat until he led him to the very right. The very first pod was in use, lights on, monitors monitoring and such. Alfonso peered inside and saw a young man, asleep. He turned to the white coat with a raised eyebrow.

?We?ve injected her blood into the body of this young man. So far, his system has reacted positively to her blood. Along with this, his body went through a lot of changes. His speed has increased, his growth has slowed, and he?s hard to kill. He?s been alive for about two days now. We hope that this method works. But there is a flaw in this method.?

Alfonso continued to observe his creation while he listened.

?We need people?s bodies in order for this to work. We need live and living people. We don?t have that kind of man power, Alfonso. We?re hoping that you could come up with a way to solve this.?

Alfonso nodded before turning to the doctor. ?I think I have an idea. But I?d like to see what I came for, first.?

The white coat smiled. ?Of course.? He led him out of the stadium and further down the hall until they came to a door with a key hole. Before the white coat could comment on it, Alfonso pulled out the key and unlocked the door.

The two walked in and looked about the spacious room. It was decorated in elegance and didn?t place quite right down below the Estate. It was more suited above ground. The make also was more fitting for an innocent woman, not an assassin or a murderer. Alfonso wondered why Edward chose this set up.

There were large screened monitors in place of windows, a huge mainframe across from the main door in which they stood, in the far corner away from all activity. There was a vanity set not too far from the large screens and a bathroom through the next door, which was right by her vanity. The walls and the ceiling were painted in a soft canary yellow. Her bed was directly opposite the bathroom and was dressed in colors similar to the room. Her carpet was a soft tan color. Alfonso suspected it made up for the light lost from above. But he still didn?t understand the need for it.

More interesting though, in the very middle was another occupied pod and Alfonso knew all too well ho occupied it. He slowly approached it, holding his breath in anticipation.

Alfonso looked through the glass at the sleeping woman. Her skin complexion was light brown and her hair looked red-orange, very different from what he?s come across. The texture, to his eyes, looked more appealing. He turned to the white coat for an inquiry.

?The crystal, Edward mentioned. Where would I find it??

The white coat nodded and approached the opposite side of the pod. He knelt down and from a small compartment pulled out a medium=sized wooden box. He walked around to Alfonso and handed him the 6?x3? wooden box. Alfonso peeled his eyes away from the woman and unlocked it, laying eyes on a long and medium sized crystal. It was beautiful. He stuck his hand inside the box and picked it up. Its length was from his first finger tip to the very base of his palm. Its width was nearly a handful.

?I was instructed to tell you that all you have to do is hold it in your hand for a few seconds before she wakes up and realizes whose ?will?* holds her. Then she?s ready to go.? Alfonso only nodded and turned to the white coat, thanking him and dismissing him. The white coat nodded and left Alfonso to return to his work.

*~*~*~*

Her eyes felt heavy at first but then they were light once more. She could open them again. She did. At first the light was a bit painful to her sensitive eyes, but she quickly adjusted to it. When she was fully aware, she noticed that she was in her pod once more. She wondered why? She reached up to touch the glass above her and tried to push it open. It didn?t budge.

?Where am I??

She began looking at the surroundings above her until her eyes met another?s?and she wasn?t familiar with whom they belonged to. They were black. His hair was a short cut, dark brown in color, and his face was very masculine. His mustache and beard made him look like a dignitary.

?Where am I??
*~*~*~*

Alfonso looked into the glass and waited for the woman to open her eyes. Within seconds her eyes opened. Their color was the same as her hair, red-orange, like a setting sun on the horizon. ?Beautiful.?

He watched her try to push open the lid to the pod and watch her stop. He watched her look around and watched her stop when she looked directly at him.

Alfonso walked around to the other side of the pod, facing the controls. He watched the woman as he pushed the button for it to open. With a small hiss, it opened outward, slowly. He stepped back to avoid getting hit with the moving door, but kept his eyes on the woman. She made an attempt to get out, but stopped her movements, not knowing if it was okay. She looked to him for an answer.

Alfonso smiled. ?Isera, is it??

The woman looked at him confused.

?How did you?know my name,? she whispered.

He extended his free hand and she hesitantly took. Alfonso helped her out of the pod and stood her in front of him. Standing six feet tall he was, she was five feet five inches, seven inches shorter. He took a couple of step back to look over her. She was slim, a very cute shape he noted. She wore a thin night gown that hung loosely on her small but cute frame. Her hair was long, stopping at her waist. He reached out and touched it. It felt silky, like the finest silk there was on Earth. He let the strands fall from his grasp and decided to answer her question.

?My name is Alfonso Banuelos. I?m an associate of Edward Liguori. I?ve requested your service. That?s why I?m here.?

She looked even more confused. ?Ed-ward?? Her voice was soft and sounded confused. Alfonso watched as she looked away, slightly confused. But then she spoke again,

?Why would he?am I just?what?why??

She looked up at him with glossy eyes. Alfonso narrowed his eyes, not in the mood for her tears. He needed to get right to work. He placed the crystal in front of her face, catching her undivided attention. Her eyes widened, one hand went to her chest while the other nearly reached out for it.

?Where?where did you get that??

?Edward. Now listen to me. I need an army of men, and women, it doesn?t matter. But they need to be at my disposal. I have an idea as to how to get that kind of man power, but I need you to do it for me.?

Isera continued to stare at the crystal. From her being asleep for sometime, it was still. It was calm. But she could see the small glow of negativity surround it as this man spoke.

?No.?

?Why, what is it you want?? She didn?t take her eyes from the crystal.

Watching her reactions closely, he answered her, ?Bring back the soldiers from the Eve wars. I need them for my plans.?

She looked up at him. ?I?I?don?t understand. Why would you need??

Alfonso tightened his grip on the crystal, causing her to stop. He willed for her to comply?to feel his will. He wanted her?he desired for her to bring back every lost soldier. He smiled as her eyes went wide and her body shuddered.

He looked at her eyes and saw the tenderness leave like a flame being snuffed out. He looked down at the crystal and saw a flame ignite in its center. ?Fire. So it?s fire she will need to relinquish herself with speed after she?s done using her powers.?

He watched as a small whirlwind surrounded her, shielding him from his view momentarily. When it disappeared, she stood in front of him, dressed in a fitted motor-jumpsuit.

?I?d have to see how large the army was, and I?d have to see what they looked like before I can do you the favor, Alfonso.?

Alfonso was all too happy at the steady accomplishment. But first, he wanted to stir things up a bit?e wanted to keep the former pilots off of his tracks while he did this. ?Bring back a specific role model first, and about three hundred men, if you can handle that many. Then send him to earth. I want my ?friends? to be kept busy with his sudden appearance and trying to keep him under wraps and away from the public eye while I get this things underway.?

Isera walked towards the mainframe and turned it on. ?But wouldn?t that direct them towards you??

Alfonso walked up beside Isera and watched her as she began to do what she was asked. ?Not necessarily. Let?s just say that they?ll be in awe when he arrives. That should keep them busy for about a month or two.?

Isera only nodded at Alfonso?s statement. She came across the old files of those that were once in the Alliance?s army. ?Who?s the role model you want back alive?? Alfonso watched as she pulled up a page containing all of the most important leaders of the former OZ and Romefellar Foundation. He scanned the page until he laid eyes on one man that made his blood run through his veins five times the normal rate.

?That one.? He pointed to a young handsome man that many adored during his short lived years.

?Let?s see what she can do. And let?s see what this universe is really made of.?
