Very Many Little Things
Night Two
Relena walked in the door humming to herself, thinking about her day. She carelessly tossed her briefcase onto the floor and began to peel off her stiff jacket. She didn?t bother to look around the room. It was just her bedroom, after all.
Wrong. It was his bedroom too.
She stopped with one arm still in her jacket, lost in thought. Heero. A smile formed on her lips and she finished removing the jacket, taking a quick glance at her stomach. If only you knew, my love.
Again she stopped, staring at the floor. Her smile turned devious. If only you knew what happened today, she thought. If only you knew what I?ve done for you.
And then she heard it.
*clink*
She whipped around, expecting to see?something. Anything. Other than what she saw.
A kitten.
It was standing on her vanity, carefully trying to walk across the surface without bumping any of the objects on it. Lipsticks, perfumes, hair accessories. Obviously, it hadn?t succeeded, as Relena saw one of her bottles of perfume lying on its side.
The kitten looked at her with wide, fearful eyes and she couldn?t help but smile. Nevermind the fact that she had no idea where it had come from. No. It was alone. And scared.
And terribly cute.
She cautiously picked it up and brought it nose-to-nose with her, staring into its eyes. She giggled and set it on the ground, lifting its tail to see its sex. A girl. Aww?
As the kitten?s eyes darted around and it tentatively sniffed the air around it, Relena decided to name it.
?I don?t know where you came from, but I guess I can name you.?
The kitten turned around and looked at her, wide-eyed.
?How about?Ginger??
The kitten suddenly looked spooked and took off like a bullet to hide beneath the vanity.
?Ok. I guess not.?
?It wasn?t the name.?
Relena gasped and looked up. Heero was standing in the doorway with an amused look on his face.
?What-what are you doing here?? she stammered, angry that she had been caught off guard. Especially by him.
?I live here,? he said smugly, shutting the door and coming towards her. She swallowed as his scent filled the room.
He smelled really, really good.
?From what I remember,? she said, trying to focus on his face instead of his physical presence, ?You?re living on the couch now.?
Something flickered in his eyes and he grinned at her. ?Not anymore.?
?Wha-?? She didn?t get to finish as she suddenly found herself in the air and then lying on her back on the bed. She gasped in surprise and looked at him expecting an explanation.
?I?ve figured it out,? he said, deftly removing her shoes and massaging her aching feet. ?I know what you want.?
She hesitated. ?You do??
?Yes,? he said, setting her shoes on the floor before climbing onto the bed. He sat beside her and began to lift her skirt.
?What are you doing?? she hissed, grabbing her skirt and yanking it back down.
?Seducing you,? he said evenly, lifting her skirt once more.
She yanked her skirt down again and tried to move away from him. She felt his hands slide around her waist and pull her back down, pinning her beneath him.
?This isn?t fair!? she said desperately. She didn?t like not knowing what he was up to. ?It?s supposed to be the other way around.?
?But it?s not,? he said, dipping his head and kissing the soft skin of her neck. She sucked in a breath.
?Heero!? she yelled angrily, trying to find a way to get him to stop. If he continued on like this she?d be completely mindless in a matter of minutes, and who knows what she?d agree to then?
An image of dull gray room with barred windows flittered into her thoughts.
He lifted his head and looked down at her face, his eyes full of triumph. Oh you think you?ve won, do you? she thought wryly. Well, how about this?
She used all the strength she had to push him up and over, surprised that she could actually do it. Or maybe he was letting her. She didn?t know. This was her game. They played it her way.
She looked down into his eyes as she straddled him, trying to figure why he was suddenly changing directions. Just that morning he?d been doing all he could to get away from her. And now, he was doing all he could to sleep with her. Was he just toying with her?
?Are you toying with me?? she asked, not wanting to beat around the bush.
His face turned somber. ?No,? he said in a quiet voice, ?I?m surrendering.?
Now she was completely confused. ?What? Why??
He chuckled softly. ?Would you prefer I didn?t??
She blushed, both from anger and embarrassment. ?No, but I would like an explanation.?
He sighed, running his hands along her sides and staring at her stomach. ?Priorities.?
She stiffened. Did he know? She weighed the possibility in her head. How could he know?
?You?re probably wondering how I know,? he said, startling her from her thoughts. She found herself looking directly into his eyes, as he had pulled her down to where their faces were mere inches apart.
She decided to avoid the obvious and play dumb. ?Know what??
He kissed her forehead and stroked her cheek. ?About the baby.?
She froze. He knew about the baby? She didn?t try to hide her shock when their eyes met again.
?How-? she swallowed, ?How??
He gently kissed her lips. ?Because I know you. I know how you act, I know how you think. I know when something?s different with you,? he paused, gazing tenderly at her, ?I know when you?re hiding something.?
Lost in how much she was truly touched, she completely forgot about the day she?d spent with a certain someone else.
?So you knew all along?? she asked, blinking back tears.
?No, I just figured it out this morning.?
She began to cry with happiness and buried her face in his neck, wrapping her arms around him. His arms slithered up her back and pulled her closer. He let out a slow breath in her ear.
?You know, if you don?t want to get ravaged you?d better move.?
She giggled and nibbled at his ear. ?Who said I didn?t want to get ravaged??
He hissed in a breath and just as he began to undo the clasp of her bra through her blouse, they heard a loud mew from across the room. They both stopped.
?I think it?s hungry.?
?Yeah, well, so am I.?
?Heero, we have to feed it! What if it hasn?t eaten in days??
Heero groaned. ?I knew I shouldn?t have gotten you that damn thing.?
She raised her head and looked at him. ?You got me that kitten??
He looked away.
?Oh!? She practically lunged at him and began kissing him like a starved animal. When their hands began roaming again they heard another loud mew.
They both stopped again.
?I?m just going to kill it.?
?Heero, no!?
?Well??
Relena reluctantly pulled herself off her husband and slid off the bed. She walked over to her vanity and crouched down, looking for the kitten. It was sniffing the air and looking around as if it expected to suddenly find food.
?Come here,? she said, picking it up. It mewed and darted its head back and forth as it was raised higher and higher while she stood up. ?I?m going to take her down to Peygan and then I?ll be right back up.?
She turned and found Heero standing right in front of her. He glared at the kitten.
?Hurry.?
He heard the footsteps of his sister as she walked down the stairs, the sound accompanied by the loud mewing of the kitten Heero had bought for her. He didn?t want to interrupt her happy thoughts but it needed to be said. After all, what he?d seen that afternoon wasn?t the type of thing that would sit well with Heero.
And he, too, owed Heero a favor.
He heard Relena coming towards his hiding place and stepped out, effectively surprising her and blocking her path.
?Milliardo!? she gasped. ?You almost gave me a heart attack.?
?Sorry,? he said. He decided to get right to the point. ?Did you tell him about Jake??
He watched guilt set slowly in her face. ?Oh God, no. I didn?t. I didn?t get the chance.?
He nodded. ?I didn?t think so.?
She fidgeted with the kitten and avoided his eyes. ?Do you think?do you think that?there?s a need to, now? I mean, he knows about the baby, and I already made up my mind about the house. Is there really a need to tell him about Jake now??
He watched her freeze when she heard Heero?s voice behind her.
?Who?s Jake??
\\\\\Just so you know, Jake is the name of the guy from the department store that she's been flirting with. Sorry I didn't mention that sooner./////
