Disclaimer: Although I would love to be, I am not the owner of Hellsing or its characters. But Jonathan Lansky is mine!!!
AN: I really don't have anything to say but I feel weird without something up here. Don't know if this is as good as the first but here it is.
Pride: Chapter 2
by Wicked Child
She swallowed the fear. She had to in order to remove his person from such close proximity. Her breathing began to slow to normal. She would have control. And yet, in the back of her mind, a single phrase betrayed the woman. Complete and utter beauty is all the he is.
?Remove your hands and step back,? she ordered calmly. She was his master, he would obey.
A grin spread across his face, once again displaying the pristine elongated canines. ?No.?
?As your master, I order you to remove yourself from me.?
The grin widened but he did not move.
?Recognize the order Alucard.? Fear began to prickle the nape of her neck.
?I do not recognize the order,? he told her, his voice still bearing a harsh bitterness.
?I am your master! Recognize the order!? she screamed at him.
Her eyes widened in surprise as he released his vise-like grip from her arms, gently removing her body away from the chimney wall only to have him slam her against it again. He still did not break a bone in her body.
?You are my master only because I allow it. You?ve never had control over me and you never will.? He smirked at the woman trying her best to not cower under the sheer force of his words and presence.
He leaned in, pressing his nose against her neck. ?I can taste your fear Integra.? His tongue slid out and caressed her neck. ?Not as intoxicating as your blood, but it will do.? One hand made its way inside her suit jacket, cupping her breast.
Her eyes moved to the side, locking with his one visible crimson orb. She saw determination, amusement, hatred, love, and vengeance all housed within. He retracted both his tongue and hand before looking at her fully. He no longer displayed the aggression from moments before. He now resembled the respectful servant he always represented.
?Is this what your pride allows you to fear without consequence; the stark brutality that I am capable of committing to anyone that I choose??
The woman swallowed. ?You truly are a demented monster.?
Again, her comment amused him and he laughed aloud before responding. ?I am only a demented monster to you when I am not your obedient little pet.?
?No. You have always been demented, even before you became a No Life King. Need I remind you of your human past??
His eyes narrowed and hardened. ?Would you rather me be a simple domesticated soldier??
This time, it was the woman?s eyes that narrowed in anger but she did not speak.
?Would you rather me be like that sweet but brave soldier you have decided to love? I assure you I can be a docile creature when in your presence and only unleashing my darker side in battle. And yet you would still deny me would you not? All because a little girl needed to be saved from a big bad man with a gun and I chose to be that savior.?
Again the woman said nothing to the vampire that stood before her. Silence stretched between them while rain began to pelt their bodies in its cold simplicity. Alucard could hear hurried footsteps approach their rooftop battleground. It would be Walter and his master?s favorite soldier Jonathan Lansky.
?Your loyal servants appear,? he said calmly.
The door to the roof burst open, Walter at the ready with his garrottes and Lansky with his gun.
?Sir Integra,? Walter began. ?We heard gunshots.?
?Are you all right Sir Hellsing?? Lansky asked.
Alucard could feel the younger human?s eyes burning with rage at his presence. Lansky hated the vampire, and it was not because he was a vampire. Alucard turned his face to the sky, letting the rain kiss his skin. The sky did not have issues with pride.
?I knew of a girl once who told me that the rain was actually the tears of angels in Heaven,? he said softly to the woman before him. ?Tell me, why do they cry tonight??
Integra closed her eyes at his words, as though stinging her like a wasp to an over curious child. She was happy Walter and Lansky were there now. It meant that the vampire would have to back down and she would not lose. When she opened them again, Alucard was walking toward the other two men, nodding once to Walter and brushing past the other man ignoring his presence completely.
Once Alucard reached the doorway he said, ?The child will prove to be a true Hellsing.? He then disappeared into the gloom of the hallway.
Lansky didn?t bother wasting time as he rushed to his superior?s side. ?Are you all right Integra? Did he do anything to you? Who fired off the shots?? He checked her over for any bruises or any other injuries the vampire could have inflicted. Lansky?s hate for the vampire ran deep and could not be assuaged by his supposedly noble acts of destroying his kind.
Walter walked up more calmly, assessing the situation silently. It would seem that the battle still wages and yet is still at a stalemate. ?We must get out of the rain Sir Integra. It is not wise considering your condition.?
?I am fine Jonathan. He did not do anything to me that is not allowed.? She did not know why she lied at that moment, but she knew that it would be a lie that only added to the amount of chains that bound her to her own hell. ?Let?s get inside, I?m cold.?
The trio walked the same path that Alucard had taken just moments before.
?How did it know about the baby?? Lansky asked.
?He?s a vampire. He could sense the child?s heartbeat,? Integra answered. She looked at man who had become her lover. His light brown hair was plastered to his head, while his hazel eyes were hard. They were always hardened whenever it came to Alucard. She knew he hated the vampire, but in all honesty did not know why.
?It?s a disgusting monster.?
?Yes,? Integra agreed. ?He can be at times.? As she continued down the stairs, flanked by her loyal retainer and her human lover a voice whispered in her mind.
And yet, I am complete and utter beauty. I cannot be two things Integra. Which will you choose?
