Just got word of another anime for cartoon network, can't say I'm too happy on the show they are putting it on. TOONAMI of ALL PLACES!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!* Don't they realize the amount of editing they will be doing for this cause of the blood!!!!!!??????????? Why not put it on Adult Swim for christs sakes!!!!!!!!!!?? :x

What anime am I speaking of, here, take a looksie::

Rurouni Kenshin is to Premier on Toonami. The Cartoon Network has revealed that the popular samurai drama TV series Rurouni Kenshin will debut on Toonami on March 17th.

Now ain't that some shit????!!!!!!! I'm a bit upset, can't you tell? Not cause of Kenshin brought to tv but the idea that they are putting it on the same timeslot they show DBZ and the likes on, which means TONS of editing.

Yeah, I agree - it's a double-edged sword, no pun intended. I'm glad it's going to be on, because it is such a good series, but then again... I can't imagine how some of the later episodes are going to come across. The Kyoto Arc is very violent - characters get beaten, slashed, burned and whatever else within an inch of their lives. I'm still having awful flashbacks of what Fox Kids did to Escaflowne editing-wiseO.o

Though, if anything, on the bright side...

Maybe we'll get some more Kenshin x Kaoru and Sanosuke x Megumi fans (AND FICS).

Thanks for the update Beck - you're like our resident anime newsgirl!

Love,
Stella

After I made a post about Kenshin on another ML, someone brought this up and it makes a bit more sense. She thinks that they will only show the 1st season of it since a whole chunk of it was kinda formula writing and not the gut wrenching parts that came later on and in the movie. But still, there were some fighting and blood everywhere during the 1st season too that I've seen. If this is the case with them showing only the 1st season, then I wonder why they bother to show it at all?

Same goes with this week on CN and how they are showing Nadesico and Evangelion. They are not showing it in order with the eps, they are skipping quite a bit of eps since I think its only a week thing, a Giant Robot Week. I don't understand why they just couldn't show some GW or EW or other shows they already had aired that involved giant robots instead of teasing the anime watches of skipped and butchered eps of the new stuff on tv.

*sigh* If it weren't for Fox Kids showing Esca, I never would've actually thought about going out and buying the anime or watching the show itself. Yes I was appalled at how much they butchered, that too is a disgrace to good anime but I hope that it made ppl want to go out and buy it to see the original uncut stuff like what I did.

Why do these networks think its all fun and games when it comes to ruining anime??  :x :(

8) :D  I try my best. If it weren't for all this info, we'd never find out and I'm the kind that doesn't like to be left in the dark for very long. I feed off of this stuff.

its doens't mater if its going to be messed up or not in the production room. its when whinny annoying little fan girls get into the fandom and write soemthign like Sano/Saitou yaoi stories is when i shall really hit the roof. and have no idea how much of actual japanese hisotry is actually in the show!!! or am i the only one that actually looked that up? anybody else wish the good old days of anime when you wre regared as a weirdo adn people didn't watch this stuff like the mass market mess they have on american tv now? i miss those days. when nobdoy was in the anime section of suncoast and people gave me weird looks for metioning Macross Plus or Blue Seed and i had to stay up till 1 am to see a show

I'm actually quite glad that they've aired Kenshin on CN. See, I hadn't heard much about RK before Toonami decided to bring it on, and I'm really excited now. I have every intention of buying the uncut version on DVD and downloading a bunch of eps. (I've started that already, heh.)

Although, I am a bit brought down by the edit. See, it's really dumb because when they first get cut, blood rushes out. Then when there's a frame with a close up view of the wound, there's NO BLOOD! *miracle music*

It's very weird. But I am very thrilled that RK came because it inspired me to write a fic for you all to read. (nudge, nudge. hint hint.) ^__^

Aren't there any box sets available that would show mercy to my wallet?

Okay I know you posted this better than a month ago..but anyway, Media Blasters will be releasing box sets of the different arcs starting sometime later this year. I'm not sure how much they will be or whether they will show mercy to your wallet (swordsmen don't always like mercy). Box sets are nice because they come in a spiffy, sturdy case with decent artwork, but the prices vary and some are just downright obnoxious (I just broke down and bought the last box set I need for Ranma 1/2 and my wallet is screaming in agony)!
