True Hero (a poem)

AN: Hi All! I wrote this poem last summer, inspired after the Spider Man movie. However when I actually sat down to write it, all I could think about was Heero and Relena. So, with our favorite hero and princess in mind, I hope you enjoy my first poem posted here.
And please, for once, this does NOT belong to Bandai or anyone else. It belongs to ME! Finally! I get to own something! YAY! Anyway, since this is purely my work, I ask that you please not reproduce it without my permission. Thank you!!!

True Hero
Take my hand.
Never let go.
We'll fly, we’ll fly.
Do you want to know me?
I wouldn’t recommend it.
Stay in the thick mist, guarded.
Sever the sky, and make a wound you’ll regret.
You don’t have to believe,
But I think you should.
I’m not going to hurt you,
But you will get hurt,
Beautiful sacrifice, you and I both,
Because of who we are and what we cannot choose.
So hold on tight
And shut your eyes.
I will rescue you.
And for the moment, I’ll be yours.
In the heat of fire, hands desperately intertwined,
I would sing a lullaby, but I don’t have the words.
You torture me
With your soft eyes.
I wish you would just fall
And with every breath
My soul begs to be touched.
Can’t you see I’m trying to save the world?
Heroes were never made to love.
I bear a name
Laden with gold.
Alone I am nothing,
And together we’re a tragedy.
‘Cause, princess, let me tell you,
Blood doesn’t go with your pink shoes,
Just as the moon can’t be caged or the tiger tamed.
I am what I am.
You must understand.
For power is a burden,
And fame a greater sorrow.
After the danger, I’m a danger to you.
And I curse myself and the heart I cannot use.
My hands are unclean.
They’ll mar your angel wings.
And I could never deserve you.
There are more important things
Than the happiness of one lone star
In a sea of desperate shining faces.
With one last look,
Please promise to forget me,
And it’s those twinkling tears
That always burn my memory
Please spare me this time, I beg of you.
For I live each day expecting to die, I live as true heroes do.
And please, for once, this does NOT belong to Bandai or anyone else. It belongs to ME! Finally! I get to own something! YAY! Anyway, since this is purely my work, I ask that you please not reproduce it without my permission. Thank you!!!
