The scripts. "Is it really raining" comes to mind.

I guess, we had been a little harsh on those who write SI...I really don't like self-inserted pairings but I think there's no harm in humorous SI fics...you know, the ones that are used for pure, innocent fun....I guess, the only ones that creep everyone out are those that involve lemon (for the reason I stated above)...Aside from that, I think it's OK...but I still won't read it...

Lol. Okay, I'll concede that the humors SI fics are alright. Just like it's alright to make characters OOC for the sake of humor. I mean, even in the manga there was a mini series called Domon W where the manga artist had fun throwing together the cast of Gundam Wing and G Gundam, chibifying them, and them making them rather OOC for the sole purpose of a good laugh.

But the more "serious" SI fics... *eye twitch* It's just... why?

Adaon, I need to look those skits/scripts up. Good times. Hilariously good times.

Miss Sin, just admit defeat, write yer lemons and LEARN from you sintastic ways. Lord (of the Warring kind) knows I have.

Amen, Andrea, Amen. I, on the other hand, will put off pledging to the CoL challenge as long as I can in the hopes of avoiding writing a 1xR lemon (read: something canon) and instead spend my time writing a GaaSaku lemon. I'll never learn. I don't think I'll even try, unless someone happens to poke me with something sharp. ;p

IC's are just gross when they're serious. Serious lemons, that is... Oh, not just IC lemons, but IC's in general when they're not meant as comedy. :-P

um call me weird, but I always liked the idea of a love/hate physical relationship between Heero & Dorothy... Dorothy goes well with any pilot but I'll admit I found the duel Heero had with Dorothy so hawt. :o

In many ways, it seems to come down to comedy vs. non-comedy. Comic fanfics can not only survive, but often depend on OOC behavior by canon characters, thoroughly unbelievable OCs, and SIs or their proxies. As far as non-comic works, I usually have two major objections to OCs. Few writers put in the effort to develop the OC and insert it into the world so it seems a natural and plausible character. The other objection I frequently have and which is relevant to the topic of alternate pairings, is that OCs often appear to have little function other than to serve as a matchup to an existing character so as to provide a happy ending. Suddenly out of nowhere, this person who is a perfect fit to Heero or Wufei or whoever, pops up and the writer doesn't worry about any loose ends or bars to happiness for all. Shakespeare could get away with it to a limited extent and I don't think that I'm insulting anyone on the forum to say that they aren't Shakespeare.

With respect to Relena x someone other than Heero, I agree with others that I just can't see him with any of the other GW women (and definitely not with the men). So unless Heero dies or the equivalent form of removal, a dramatic romance should deal with Heero left out in the cold. It sounds sad because it is. I think that part of the appeal of HeeroxRelena for so many is that for Heero there is no one else. None of the other GW women would have recognized his hidden virtues and try to bring them out. He did spend time in the company of other GW women and none showed the same appreciation of him as a person. Also, for some of them like Hilde, there is an obvious (to me) personality mismatch. She would become frustrated with his quiet and introverted manner, he would find her bouncy personality annoying.

ditto.

Once again, I agree.

whew...for a second there, I felt as though I was reading a literary analysis essay ...the ones that I loathe so much in English class esp. if the said "literature" just downright sucks (meant as somewhat of a compliment since that kind of stuff takes quite a while to write; thus, no offense intended)
