not to be rude, Katy-did, but DUH!!! I stretched! lol. Yes, a lot. And a lot more later. And a lot more as the days have progressed. I'm actually quite the athletic type, so i know what i'm doing, but I just don't know why the body is so sore a day later rather than the day of or whatever. hahaha, ~hug~ thanks for your concern though.
Heero, still waiting on the answer.

heero, if one had to break up with a girlfriend in a gentle and nice way- which is almost exceedingly impossible [but needs to be done] task- then how would one go about it?
As we go thru this "bump" in the road, I know in my heart that all will be okay, especially knowing that you are there to help me through this. I love you- Mom.
Funny how only a few sentances can turn a rotten day into a good one.
lol. I can see that my working out is going to be an ongoing topic...yeah, i haven't worked out in a while, and yeah, i'll get used to it like i normally do (it's conditioning for spring sport). I just wanted to know why after one has a strenuous workout one seems to peak in their soreness after 24 hours. This goes for other occasions too. Say... you fall down the stairs. You get the bruise immediately and your muscles were strained right at that moment, yet you don't really feel the extent of the soreness until the next day. :x I hate that, have you ever fallen down the stairs, yuy? lol

But as for your muscles, I may be wrong about this. Don't take my word for it. But I think when you exercise, you are actually tearing your muscle tissues. Then, when rebuilding, they are thicker, that's how your mescles grow, and the lingering piain is the tissue reconstructing. But once again, that's just something I heard, it may not be 100% correct.
And Miroku, this is just about the hardest thing to do. My advice is to just tell her flat out, no fancy talk. If you don't want to get hit or yelled at. do it over the phone or e-mail. But that is really REALLY degrading.

Actually, the soreness comes from a build up of lactic acid produced during anaeroblic exercise. When you burn oxygen faster than it can travel to the muscles, you have to burn another sort of energy, stored energy, to keep your body going; burning this stored energy (aka SUGAR and/or FAT) has a by-product of lactic acid. Stretching after a workout, increasing the amount of water you take in, can help work the lactic acid out of the muscle, but soreness should generally disappear after 2-3 days.
Having sore muscles after a hard workout is a good sign. It means you have put the necessary stress on your muscles in order to spur them to grow. If there is a lingering soreness after 3-4 days that feels slightly different from regular aching muscles, you may have, like Heero suggested, some amount of tearing. Be cautious and try not to overwork that muscle, do gentle stretching exercises, and try to get heat into the area - it brings blood to the muscle to help heal the tear.
Any workout that is worth doing will leave you sore. Just know your limits and try not to overdo things - that is how you get injured.
YEA! I get answered not only by the string of friends in this column but by my two most adored people of all the forums, Heero AND Blackrose!! You two are so smart, I feel special. Thanks for the concern from everyone, i do believe that rose is right, i remember the stuff about the lactic acid now. btw, my muscles are fine now.
As for falling down the stairs Heero, yeah, i think we've all been there...though how did YOU of all people manage to trip?

Sorry to deviate the attention... But I seem to have a problem, and I don't know how to 'proceed'. Lord, I sound just like Heero... LOL...
Anyway, this guy, he's my age, asked me out totally out of the blue. I didn't know him, so I told him why didn't we chat a little first... and prevent maybe getting murdered around some corner... So, we spent almost a week when we talked every night for hours... And finally I accepted to go out with him.
We went to the movies, and when we got there, he never opened a single door for me, he didn't pay for my ticket EVEN if he was the one INVITING! And of course I had to buy my own popcorn and coke... SO, I told him after a couple of days of angry mumbling to myself why, if he had invited me, didn't he pay for my things?
He told me he didn't INVITE ME, he TOLD me if I wanted to go to the movies with him.... WHAT?!?! :x
Now he keeps calling me, and he tells me that I am spoiled, and that I think of myself as a princess... ??! It's not that, it's just that guys are supposed to do these things!!
