That's exactly my point. ^_^ having a degree means you had the determination to get through college, too, but someone without a degree could have the same determination for their work.

It's certainly possible, but I tend to think not as plausible. Now don't get me wrong; I'm no worshipper of the Ivy League schools or anything like that. Nor am I ignorant of the amazing success stories of people who dropped out of even High School and are now millionares. And I'm certainly not a subscriber to the ideals of the supremicist elitists that are all too often associated (and not unwisely) with college students and professors. But that being said, college does make you a better person, and it gives you experiences and knowledge that you cannot acquire anywhere else. - Usually.

If nothing else, college is about following the rules and proving to yourself and the... world (?? sounds a little melodramatic, but I'll go with it ^^; ) how far you're willing to go to succeed. Some people have to go further than others. Some have more problems. But the fact is that less than 25% of this nation's populace has that piece of paper, and that says something. It's a big something. If you have one of those pieces of paper, it says that you were willing to go the distance - you didn't quit halfway in the middle. You made sure you were totally prepared. You worked your rear off to make sure that you had everything.

Experience - definately important. Invaluable, even. And I have to wonder as a college student exactly how I'm going to get that experience if everyone says that I have to have some in order to get hired. ^^; But if you have some experience and a degree, you're going to stand out.

And for experience to impress those future employers....why not start with an internship through a professor or a volunteering stint somewhere local? From there, you can build connections in the business world, and you can get really good letters of recommendations from your professor because you've worked with them and their letter will reflect that. It won't be like, "Jackie was in my political science 1 class and received an 'A' in the course" and that'd be all the letter would say.

^_^ Well, if I go for the journalist, then I've counted on needing 3 internships because 2 is becoming cliche. If I go for the teacher, then I don't have to worry about experience with the shortage and all. ^^; I can even shoot for some programs in which the entire degree will be paid for if I agree to be a teacher.

Exactly. It really does make your life easier if you get your first interships from a professor.

I'm shooting for one internship next quarter (already have one in mind), and then possibly a job over the summer that will give me more experience working with animals.

Epyon I like you so I'm totally going to forget that you talked about this school in a positive light. No I don't have rational reason for hating this like I do everything else, it's just jealousy, punks get more money then us :evil:

Seriously though, don't let anyone tell you that college is easy...cuz it's not when you have a goal and college is basically the only way to go if you want to reach it.

Not to start an arguement but I have to disagree. I think it's a joke.
