The perferance of bathing has to do with hair. When my hair is reently cut, I just let the water hit my face, it really doesn't bother me. But when my hair has grown out and reaches my lips when it's wet, it's really annoying, so I turn around to wet my hair. That's my preferance, I can't say much about everyone else.

As for limiting your internet time, just do what I do. I create a list of favorites with sites that update daily/weekly or so in order of importance. I go through each page, see what there is to see and move on to the next. I save the heavy surfing for weekends. I'm sure you can work a deal with your parents to limit your time durring the week but give you ample time durring the weekends. Or any day(s) for that matter.

As for the incoherant jerks you'll stumble across in just about ny web community, you can either not reply, making them think you're not there... say that you're away from the keyboard and can't talk to them right now (or ever) or learn to speak thier language, which, as I have observed, goes something like this....

The world of grammer and spelling is foriegn to them. My tactic is to ignore them at all costs and pretend they don't exist. But I do realize that due to similar intrests an friends, you have to go anyway, I do understand. Just be strong. And never NEVER speak teh 1337. It's a shame to see so many potential minds go to waste.

Good God this has gotten far!

I don't mind some 1337 speak because at times it's damn hilarious. Actually I've been using it to describe a manga character.... GAH! I mustn't do it again! It's okay when I'm poking fun at people but not when I'm using it to describe how sexy he is. Okay so I've mainly been using "teh sexay" but that's it. Honestly.

Why am I even telling y'all this? I haven't even been to this thread in many a moon. Gosh golly gee whilliker. Must be the old age setting in. PH34R teh 01d 4g3. Okay so that doesn't qualify as leet/geek speak but whatever. What do you expect from me?

1337 speak, is something developed by video game players who spend way to much time on line, mostly they are the type that ignores the point of the game in favor of killing stuff, especially other players.

1337 translates literally to "leet" which is shorthand for "elite" It uses mostly numbers and other symbols in place of actual letters.
1 = L
3 = E
7 = T
@ = A
$ = S
/\/\ = M
\/\/ = W
and you get the picture.

Adaon described it perfectly. But I must add on one more note...
Common misspellings are also a recommended part of 1337. Like "teh" instead of "the" and "pwnz" instead of "owns". Or it could be used to phnetically alter the word. Like in Wicked's quote above, fear becomes pheer (PH34R) And common mistakes like forgeting to hold down the shift key when typing "!" It comes out as "OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!11!1!111!!1"

I don't mind a little bit of 1337 here and there. "teh sexay" as wicked said is just fine by be. But when it becomes illedgable AnD tHe UsE oF cApS gEtS oUt Of CoNtRoL..... then it becomes annoying. The extra few "ones" after exlamation marks don't bother me so much.


But to answer Wicked's question, it can go either way. Some days it's social problems galore, others it's "Let's Prod at Heero Day"
But it' my job, so I have no right to complain. At least they're not targeting me with missles like all my other jobs.

anyway, I need some advice.

I love anime a lot. In the UK, there isn't much and everyone I know regards it as japanese cartoon crap for five year olds. Even my friends.

Thing is, I want to tell them that I love anime. I want to share with them my fanfics and my fanart and I want them to see all my collection of anime stuff on my computer.

But I'm scared. So, what should I do? Help!
