Aw, Jackie, you should meet the people I know...My older friend Sandra has literally saved me from my own mother many times. I really couldn't have any idea what you're talking about, with the scientific and researched? It's not like homosexual parents can somehow poison their children to be gay as well, as if it's even a poison...*sigh* Sorry, someone take away my soapbox to where I can't find it again. It's just...so sad...that they can't be happy too.

It's good to have friends like that.

I think it's not the 'gay parents produce gay children'...this isn't necessarily true. I think some of it come from the concern for the children....about such a set-up might cause confusion and such for the child.

Personally, I'm a little iffy on the subject of gay people having children. I have bi friends who'd make great parents....but I'm concerned for the kids...and how society will react to them....

I have expecience with this! Yay! My good friend has two mothers, and you honestly wouldn't have the feigntest idea unless you sat her down and demanded the information. It hasnt' affected her at all, or the two-year relationship she had with her boyfriend. As far as I know she's never been harrassed for her parents, but she has a pretty Katharine Hepburn-esque personality, so she's likely to make the offender feel stupid before being hurt by them.

I also spent three weeks in sessions with homosexual couples who had just recently become parents. We spend a lot of time with couples who had grown children, and not one that I met was in the sort of unstable miserable situation that we have been taught to think. They were all very healthy, got very good grades, and seemed very happy.

What I actually noticed was that everyone that I met seemed nearly paranoid that they weren't doing good enough. All the homosexual couples that I met were trying their absolute hardest to make their childs lives as normal as possible, and on how they could make their parenting as best as it could be, which I think gets neglected or taken for granted in a heterosexual relationship quite often. In fact I've never heard a horror story about homosexual parents, like the kinds of terrible things you hear about in the news.

So this is what I know.

Thanks for sharing your experience, its very enlightening.

here in my country, the kid would probably be ostracized. the Philippines is a very catholic country...and it is a little sad when your parenting skills are judged by you sexual orientation rather than actual...performance.

Oh my gosh. I SO want to do that!!

On the whole homosexual couples as parents thing.. *shrug* if they can take care of the kid, that's fine with me. I mean really, you look at what "normal" couple do to their kids these days... I think it's perfectly normal that they feel somehow inadequate to do their jobs as parents. They've been cast as "different" so eya. But really, I don't care. They're not going to make their kids into homosexuals--isn't is a biological thing anyway?

And that is my two bits.
