[Gundam Girl]

"By the way, where's Gallian?" Trowa asked.

Porthole answered. "I saw him by the surveillance desk, and he didn't reply when I asked if he was all right. He seemed really down about something."

"I should--"

"I'll go talk to him."

Quatre's head turned. "What are you going to say to him, Mariemaia? I mean...he doesn't even know you."

Mariemaia shook her red head. "Don't look at me that way, Mr. Winner. I'm much older than I was in AC 196, and I am much better at understanding things now than I was back then. I will be very good with the situation." And she rolled out in her wheel chair.

"Ya know, in a way," Duo said, "she's kinda like Une. I mean, I know that she's been with Une for the last many years, but really, now that it's AC 209, and she's twenty, Mariemaia isn't anything like the granddaughter of Dekim Barton."

Gallian's head lifted as he heard someone speak.

"What are you doing? Are you really looking at outer space?"

He turned to see that one woman -- Mariemaia -- sitting calmly in her wheelchair.

"Or are you really just looking at your own reflection?"

Gallian turned back to the window, saw his wild eyes, and his face fell. Mariemaia's didn't miss the expression change. "I could look at myself, into my eyes, and still see nothing but space."

"It's really a pity you feel that way," Mariemaia said, rolling the chair to his side. "I used to be that way. Ignorantly. But you are anything but empty."

"I suppose I should believe you," Gallian said softly. "You're two years older than me, and you know more. But have you ever loved someone, had them betray you, and then come back still as loving as ever?"

"I haven't had the oppotunity to fall in love yet," Mariemaia told him wistfully. "I'm happy you have."

"I shouldn't have."

"Hm?" Turning her head, the daughter of Treize couldn't see Gallian's eyes behind the fall of his bangs. Unfazed by his unshown sadness, she asked, "And why is that? Because Rosaan betrayed you? Because it made you think she didn't love you? Or is it because you stopped loving her after you were so happy doing so."

"That's just the problem!" Gallian said, head shooting up. "I didn't stop loving her. I should have, but I didn't!"

"And why didn't you?"

"Because she's just the same," he explained frustratedly. "She's beautiful and kind and she knows how to fight, and she's so intelligent..."

"But you want her to leave you again? Would it be better if she went back to Galfis?"

"Of course it wouldn't. I don't want her to leave. I just don't want to get hurt again. My parents..."

"Is that the problem, then?" Mariemaia asked, her eyebrows raising. She pushed some red hair from her shoulder. "Would your parents disapproved of Rosaan Tohai? Would they have disliked her loving you?"

"Of course they wouldn't. They'd be so thrilled that someone who I could really love with all I am could really love me in the same way. I never..." Gallian trailed off, his mouth falling open. "I never thought about these things. I had so many questions..."

Mariemaia smiled, and scooted her chair away, turned it. "Yes, you had many questions. But truthfully, you had just as many answers. You simply needed help realizing it."

"Thank you." He turned. "I appreciate what you've done for me, Miss Khushrenada."

"I'll say it again," she said, smile remaining. "I was like you once, Gallian. I had many questions myself when I was helping a madman take over the Earth Sphere. And inside me, I had all the answers I needed. My adoptive mother helped me realize that." She turned her head to grin at him. "Now, come back to see the others. Maeko will be leaving soon, and you should say goodbye."

Gallian walked and Mariemaia rolled back to the meeting room.

"Please. I know what I've done so far has only hindered you. Please allow me to fight with you."

Gallian halted in the doorway. Mariemaia continued on.

"Sally?" Wufei asked.

"She's just fine, and perfectly capable of battling. Although..." Sally turned to look at the door. "Hello, Gallian. Do you think you're as good to fight as Rosaan is?"

Gallian's eyes never left Rosaan and the act was reciprocal. "If you fight," he said steadily, "I will protect you."

Next to her, Heero caught Relena's smile.

"I heard you're leaving Maeko," Gallian says looking at the girl.

"Yeah I am. Are you going to come Wufei?" Maeko asks the older male.

"I would, but I should stay for the attack. I wasn't planning on going until later. But please give them my regards."

"I will. Well, I'm going to start packing. I want to get there early to work out a few things." She turns around and starts to head out, but is interrupted by someone's voice.

"Hey Maeko, I'll come with you. You're going to need a friend and it might be dangerous for you to travel alone," Reku says, taking a step foward.

"I don't know," she questions.

"He's right and anyways, we have five gundam pilots now and after the service, we'll inform Reku of our plan," Duo says, trying to convince her.

"Let him."Everyone now looks at Relena who has been the quiet one. "We'll be just fine and lossing someone isn't easy."

"Alright. But I want to leave soon," she says, sighing and giving in and looking at Reku.

"Alright. I'm pretty much already packed, so I'll go get the Gundams ready."

"I'll meet you there then. I hope everyone the best of luck and I promise to return to help out as soon as I can," she ends as she finally walks out.

"So, that's the girl you like. She's really something," Alex whispers to Reku's ear.

"Be quiet."

As the two pilots left, every one else got ready to start their mission.

" Alex, get the programing set up ready and into the computer." Duo said.

"Yes,dad. Porthole can you give me a hand here with the plugs."

" Sure."

" I'm gonna wait in my gundam, I probably won't fit in. Unless you want me to go with you." Reku said through the comm unit as they headed for her home.

" I'll decide when we get there. But for now, I'd like it if there was no talking." She said thinking about todays event.

" All right, I'll be quiet." He shuts the unit off. " how did I end up here like this. mom kept pushing me to say something, so that came out of my mouth. I give up."

So it's so short I was playing Fed Vs. Zeon so my interests kept wandering to the game and not the post.

"How's it coming guys?" Naora shouts out at the two boys working.

"It's looking fine here. We should be ready in no time Naora, right?" Alex asks.

"Yeah. I'll go tell the others."

"Is it me or have Reku and Maeko been acting funny?" Duo asks Hilde as they wait in their room.

"They've been acting funny. Maybe it was the advice we gave them. Maybe they weren't ready to be pushed together," Hilde answers, feeling guilty for maybe making the situation worse.

"They'll be fine. I mean, Heero and Relena needed some pushing together and they seem fine for the most part."

"Are you sure about this? I mean, I could just stay in the gundam," Reku says as he walks a few paces behind Maeko as they walk between a row of trees.

"I would feel bad if you came all this way just to sit in your gundam. I should at least show some thanks." As they continue, they soon arrive as a little shrine.

"Maeko, is that you?" asks an old woman at the enterance.

"Grandmother. I wasn't expecting you to be here," Maeko says surprised.

"I decided to stick around for the service. They asked your grandfather to help out. And who is this young man?" she asks, looking over Maeko's shoulder.

"I'll tell you inside once I get Grandfather."

" Alright, some of the up loading is done but there's still another fifty percent that needs to be completed before the system is ready. Alex saidas he looked at Porthole. " So are those two and item yet?"

" Who?"

" My brother and that girl." Alex said with a little smile.

" Don't know, they fight more than anything, but I'd say probably. you got any girlfriends."

" Yeah, I got to go to public school, so I've got a girl."

" 60% done. Man so slow."

"Grandfather, grandmother, this is Reku Maxwell, a fellow Gundam pilot," Maeko introduces as she takes a sip of her tea. The four sit on the ground around a small table drinking.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both," Reku says bowing a little.

"It's nice to see that Maeko has finally become a lady and caught a nice looking boy."

"Grandmother!" Maeko shouts, bringing down her tea as the two stare at one another.

"So Maeko, I guess you're here for the service," her grandfather starts, trying to change the subject.

"Yes I am."

"You know though, it's getting late and you most likely will have to get up early. So why don't you just stay here and then you can head over to the dojo in the morning," the elder suggests.

"I guess that's alright. Come on Reku, I'll show you to a room you can stay in," she says as she gets up and starts to lead Reku out.

"Thank you for the tea Mr and Mrs Ikura," he says, bowing again.

"It's no trouble at all Reku."

"Isn't there anyway to get this thing done faster?" Alex complains.

"It's so sad," Relena says as she sits on her bed.

"The war?" Heero asks as he leans against the wall inside, watching her fidget with the sheets.

"No, what's happening behind the war."

"You mean Maeko and Reku and Gallian and Rosaan?"

"Yeah. All of them are trying to fight a different kind of battle and there's nothing anyone can really do about it, which makes it even tougher."

"They're all talented people Relena. I know everything will turn out fine."

Reku walks down the hallways of the shrine, exploring each room. "Are you looking for something Reku?" Surprised, he jumps a little a looks into a room to see the old man sitting on the floor.

"Mr. Ikura. I was just looking for Maeko," he answers looking in.

"She's probably outside practicing. It would be a bad idea to bother her now." The two wait in silence until Reku starts again.

"Mr. Ikura, could I ask you a few questions?"

"Of course," he says, motioning Reku to come in. He does and sits in front of the man.

"Well, I was just wondering about Maeko and her mother and grandmother. She never mentions them."

"Maeko lost her mother when she was only three, when her mother came here because her father was killed after being sent away on a peace mission. Since then, we've been taking care of her. Her grandmother decided that she would be the one to make Maeko in a lady and would always force her to do things she didn't want. When she started with her sword, her grandmother became angry with her and since then, they haven't gotten along."

"Maeko has always seemed different than other girls," he answers, a slight blush appearing.

"Do you like my granddaughter?"

"Well...uh..." he starts, looking around and the blush darkening.

"She is different but she likes to be treated as an equal. If you really want to get her, be a friend first." He nods his head in agreement.

Sorry again but I was doing the math of the year they're in and if it's only 209 Reku's only 13, which isn't right. It would have to be at least 215 or 216 A.C. for him to be 19 which he is.

Alex sat in front of the computer waiting for the download to be completed. It took so long, but He knew it was important to everyone esle that he got this done.

" Still too slow."

Relena and Heero sat talking about the conflict the new pilots were having with each other. Quatre and Trowa were playing chess and the Maxwells ahd gone to help Lady Une with the girl.

" Don't worry Relena they'll work everything out."

" I hope so."

" Mr. Ikura, do you have any clothes I can wear, because if I'm staying over night these clothes are unconfortable." Reku asked as the man watched the red slowly disappear from the boys cheeks.

" I think I can find something for you.....

Alright for the age Problem I'll just say there was an accident in his gundam with the zero system and he aged a few years. same with his brother.

even though this probably isn't possible in the real world, but hey this is gundam anything can happen.

Oh and what's up with that last character we haven't used yet. Are we even gonna use that person
