As I lift you into the air you lay your head on my shoulder. 'I don't want this moment to end' I think as we drift slowly. I flap my wings to keep us up and you slowly reach a hand out and brush your finger tips along one of my wings. I close my eyes at the sensation and grip you tighter.
"Does it hurt?" you ask as you look at me with your green eyes, eyes of the forest, eyes full of emotion. Is that love I see in your eyes, Hitomi? I shake my head to let you know that it doesn't hurt. You smile and hug me. It feels like time has stopped as you bring your hand to my cheek and lightly stroke it. "Van, you saved me again and I'm happy you aren't hurt." you say and smile. I search your eyes because there is something lingering there, you wanted to say something else. What was it you were going to say? I look past you and notice we have drifted a long ways so it must have been a while since I rescued you.
"Hitomi, let's go back and let everyone know we're alright." I say in a whisper as I lower my lips to your ear not wanting to let you go. You nod ever so slowly as if you didn't want to go. I smile inwardly seeing you want this moment to continue as well. As I fly us back to the others I see and feel you making invisible designs on my arm. It tickles but not to disturb you I hold in my laugh, instead I smile and continue to fly. "Hitomi we're almost there, you doing alright?" I ask and you look up and smile, then nod. Hitomi you look sad... I wonder what is going through your mind and I decide to stop in the forest below us to take a break. I wanted to talk instead. "Hitomi, you seem upset, what's wrong?" I say still holding you in my arms.
"Van, I don't want to leave you, or Gaea, I love it here. And most of all I..."
I saw it just then, the love in your eyes. I had to tell you. "Hitomi, I love you. I always have." I say as you smile and hug me. "I don't want you to leave either, but there are some things that can't be stopped I guess." you look at me with the most depressed expression ever. I will never forget that look. It was a look of lost hope and loneliness. It hurt me to look at your face with that expression. To prove to you that I meant what I said and to make you have a smile I leaned down... "I'll find a way for us to be together." I said brushing my lips against yours as I spoke. You froze and slowly closed your eyes. I then pressed my lips against yours. We finally shared ours first kiss. One that will never be forgotten. I pulled away and looked at you.
"Van I love you always and forever." I kissed you again and smiled thinking I will keep my promise and find a way for us to be together. As the days passed I saw you help around the castle in Fanelia and help with her rebuilding. I was happy to see you loved my country, no I was happy to see you loved me. Then the day that we both dreaded finally came. I have to send you home. I walked up to you as I put Escaflowne to sleep and smiled.
"Escaflowne isn't needed anymore." I said trying to avoid you leaving but it couldn't be avoided, you had to leave. I hate the thought. As we said our good-byes I lowered my lips to yours and kissed you then whispered into your ear. "we'll meet again soon I promise you this." I then showed you what was in my hand and you started to cry. "Hitomi, will you marry me?" You smiled and kissed me.
"I will, Van" you said smiling. That's when the sky grew brighter and suddenly it started to rain snow white feathers. Is it the gods approving of this? I then figured out it was my mother. Her spirit smiled.
"You two shall meet again but for now Hitomi go back to earth and await Van." she said. I smiled and told you that I will come for you soon and you hugged me. That's when I raised my energist and saw you leave. The months had passed and when it was time I showed myself to you and I saw you with a bag in hand and a smile on your face.
"Are you ready?" I said. You nodded and ran to me pressing your lips against mine."I love you Hitomi and we'll always be together." I took that moment to kiss you again and I took us back... back to our home... our kingdom... Fanelia.
