InuYasha/FMP crossover Chapter 1(edited)

Note: Summer job is too boring. I hope I can kill some time off here writing this. Enjoy. By the way, this should appear in both the FMP and InuYasha showcase. I will let the administrators decide where it should be put in the end.

Chapter 1: The Man Out of the Portal

It was night.

Inuyasha was resting himself against a tree, trying to get some rest. Kagome was in her sleeping bag a couple feet from him, dozing peacefully. Their work of gathering all the shards of the Shikon Jewel finally ended with the defeat of Naraku. The complete jewel now lied around Kagome's neck on a necklace that carried them.

Miroku and Sango, after taking their revenge against Naraku, decided to go back to their homeland for a couple of days before rejoining Inuyasha and Kagome, as well as Kaede and Shippo. They were to decide the future of the jewel before Kagome was to go back to the modern era.

Inuyasha wanted her to stay, of course, but the miko was firm in her decision. He was deep in thought, thinking about life after her, if it was destined to go that way.

The same question popped up again in the hanyou's mind: Kikyo or Kagome? He obviously knew he could not have both: Kagome sat him one time when he wondered aloud this prospect.

He felt obligated to Kikyo, but his heart was attached to Kagome. He was a man of promise, and he did not sit well with breaking his obligations to Kikyo before. But he has to make a decision now. That is, after getting some rest. He fell asleep.

Crickets continued to chirp and frogs continued to sing their "ribbit" tone. They all stopped when a black portal suddenly opened. A man stepped out, a devilish grin on his face.

The man is tall and muscular, and his face was truly the definition of evil. He looked toward a girl in a sleeping bag. Kagome. He smiled.

He removed a small dart of some sort, and then a gun that shoots the dart. He slammed the dart in, walked toward Kagome, and shot it at her head. If she was sleeping soundly then, she would be in a coma now.

The man moved stealthily toward her, knelt down beside her, then unzipped her sleeping bag. "Pajamas. Hm.....I never thought that the protector would be someone from my own era......" He located the jewel around Kagome's neck. However high his stealth level, he is no match for the senses of someone not quite human.

Inuyasha dashed to Kagome's side, his presence towering over the man just as the man tried to reach for the jewel. He removed the dart that was on her head.

"Just what the HELL do YOU think you are doing?"

The evil man just laughed.

"You managed to pick up my movements, even though I think I'm one of the best in this business. You have my admiration."

Inuyasha snarled. "Thank you, but the game is over. Get away from Kagome or else. I am not afraid to pull the Tetsunaiga on a human."

"Too bad then. Before you pull out whatever you are pulling and then fall down next to the girl, however, let me introduce myself, since you may not see me again as well as the jewel. I come from the future, friend. My name.......is Gauln. Yours?"

Inuyasha did not answered. He was distracted enough to not see another dart coming his way. The dart hit his neck, and the hanyou felt his strength being sapped away as he pulled it out.

His half-demon strength allowed him to last a little longer and hear Gauln wondering aloud to himself before Inuyasha fell down and wrapped his arms around Kagome to protect her from Gauln, "You reminded me of Kashim......"

Gauln snicked. "How noble, really Kashim-like, as he is still devoted to that blue-haired girl." He took hold of Kagome's necklace and snapped the jewel away from her neck. He disappeared back into the portal, and the portal itself then disappeared.

Inuyasha woke up the next morning with a slight headache. He sat up and noticed something. Kagome was next to him, and he had previously wrapped his arms around her. What happened? He tried to retrace.

He heard a noise. He darted to protect Kagome. He was then nicked by some kind of mini-arrow from some weird guy who said his name is Gauln. He felt his body getting weak and wrapped himself around Kagome to protect her. Wait a minute. If they are not killed, then what was the motive?

It hit him. Idiot, it is the jewel, of course!

He searched her neck. Nada. Nil.

He had to wake up Kagome first before making any kind of decision. He shook her a bit. "Kagome." No effect. He shook her a little more violently. "Kagome!" Nothing. He shook and even slapped her. "KAGOME!" Shit, something is wrong with her.

Inuyasha quickly carried her to the nearest source of water. He holded her head and dipped it down into the water. The cold water ought to do it.

Finally, there was some resistance from the miko. She gurgled and coughed as Inuyasha pulled her head out of the water.

"Inuyasha! What are you doing?"

"Kagome! Why didn't you wake up before until now? I shook you and even slapped you and you still did not wake up! I was damn worried about you that you will never wake up!" The look on Inuyasha convinced her. Something was wrong. Is it the jewel?

Kagome felt around her neck. Gone.

"Inuyasha, what happened?"

"Some guy attacked us, Kagome. He took your jewel."

"Who is this guy?"

"No idea. He said his name is Gauln, and that he came from the future. I did remember him saying something about your pajamas. Said something about you coming from his own era....."

"Huh? That's impossible! I don't remember having a time machine in my own era!"

"Well, no matter what, we have to retrieve the jewel, Kagome. If that involves going into the well and the future, so be it."

End of Chapter 1

Note: I do not know how long this will last, perhaps until school starts again for me. Fantasizing about the story during work time is in progress. At first I included swearing, but I decided to take them off. Enjoy!
