Mind Games; Episode one: The thief of the night, Micheru- a woman beauty.
Melville?s Best Friend

The thief hit the marble floor with little noise, and the slight thud that was made could not even be heard echoing in the next corridor. The night surrounded the figure, bathing it and comforting it with a strange all-too-familiar presence. The figure wasted no time in completing its task, and was soon out of the perimeter before the night watchmen even felt the breeze that floated from the hole the intruder had made. In five minutes, the thief was in and out, taking the Jewel of Anar with it.

It was all too simple.

She walked down the street without a care in the world. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping a melody all their own, and not gray cloud hung in the sky. A breeze cooled pedestrians occasionally, but the sun wasn?t as hot as it usually was. There wasn?t anything to complain about in nature; she was perfect.

It was an easy adjustment for her to move from outer space to the earth. As a matter of fact, she preferred Earth to any of the planets she?d been on. The humans and other creatures that resided on Earth were friendly and bright. In outer space, the less people you ran into, the better. But she was used to it. Complaining about life was useless to her, so she kept silent. She sat on a bench in a park, marveling at how wonderful it felt just to be able to sit where she was. Many children rushed by her, and she smiled at their games. A beep interrupted her thoughts.

It was her vid-cell; a nifty little device that served as a computer and phone all in one. It hovered, so the speaker could easily do other things while talking and entering or receiving data. She usually kept it off in the day, as she only received night calls. However, she was expecting a call from her employer. She picked it up.

?Where have you been? I?ve been trying to contact you all morning!?

She looked at the phone, amused. ?I?ve been preoccupied.?

The woman on the other line sighed. Powerful purple hair fell a little past the tip of her chin, and bangs flew in all directions, giving her a tousled yet good-looking appearance. Her eyes matched her hair color, and danced with a fire that made men look twice. And she was smarter and more powerful than she was good looking. She looked at her subordinate.

?How long have you been on Earth, Micheru? You were supposed to contact me as soon as you arrived,? she narrowed her bright eyes, ?I can see that was a botched mission.?

Micheru smiled. Although she would never deny nor accept it, she was the better looking of the two. Her hair flew in a golden-blue hue down her back, shimmering like a crystal wave in the sun. Her eyes were narrow and resilient, yet never managed to look severe when she was surrounded in light. Her dark skin contrasted with the beauty of her hair, and she wore a simple tank top and jeans. The simplicity of her beauty made her all the more outstandingly radiant.

?I said I was preoccupied. I?ve never been down here before, and I wanted to see what it was like.?

?Fine. Now that you?ve seen it, we need to get back to business. I?m sure you?ve seen the news.?

Micheru nodded, her eyes becoming suddenly hard. Work did that to her. Whenever her job was concerned, her eyes turned murderous.

?The UGP have yet to respond to the call, though I?m sure they?ll come running when the Earth police force tells them how it all happened.?

?I?ll be long gone before the UGP even arrive.?

?That might not be true, Micheru,? she opened a file and showed it to her subordinate. ?Do you see this man??

Micheru pressed a button on her phone, and a hologram came up, blowing up the size of the file to where the man?s face was clear. She nodded.

?This is Alexander Dumont. He?s our new benefactor.?

?Kala, I?m not accepting any more work. I already succeeded in acquiring what I came here for,? she twirled a strand of hair, looking childish for a moment. Her gaze averted from the screen to the sky, and her eyes hazed. ?I have accomplished what I came to do, and now that it?s finished, I?m leaving.?

?Micheru, this guy?s offered more than 3 times our normal price. To not take his offer is quite unsettling.?

?I don?t care about money.?

?Well, I do, and you should, too. How do you think you?re paying for your stay on Earth, huh??

She sighted. It was no use arguing with this woman. ?Tell me.?

?Alexander is the President of a major company. TIRACK. I?m sure you know the name. Apparently while running a transaction between a shady counterpart, Alexander was robbed. The leader of transaction opposite Alexander stole money and jewels, and most importantly, Alexander?s rep.?

Micheru closed her eyes. ?This is all revenge??

?Isn?t it always??

?Drugs??

Kala nodded. ?Caroo, to be exact. These guys were apparently ?in the money?. Alexander has hired you to find?? she looked through a stack of papers, ?this man. Homasar Tacool.?

?And??

?There?s no price on his head?I think you know what Alexander has in mind.?

Micheru opened the file on Homasar and scanned his face with quiet hesitation. ?I?ll kill him.?

?Good. I?ll contact you later with further information. Finding out all this stuff about these targets you get isn?t easy,? Kala sighed, ?It?s too much work for one person.?

Micheru closed her connection. It looked as if she was alone on this one. She put her shades on, and set out to find a library.

?Tacool?.You?ve been a busy beaver, haven?t you?? she selected files from the old library -computer and downloaded them to her handy vid-phone. ?Well, well, well. Space Project administrator? This guy was in it big?Why did he take a different route?? She tapped a pencil on the bridge of her nose, and squinted her eyes at the screen. She had managed to gather, what she considered, too much information on this guy, including why he stole from Alexander. Apparently, Homasar wanted to gain allegiance to the UGP, and the only way to do that was to set Alexander up. Unfortunately for him, Alex was able to slip out of the trap. Homasar went away empty handed.

?Why in the galaxy would he want to join the Universe Galaxy Police force?? She narrowed her eyes. ?This guy?? she smiled as her phone rang.

?Micheru, it?s sunset. I?ve got a lead on our man. How soon can you get to Hunter?s Station??

?Give me 60 minutes.?

?It shouldn?t take that long.?

Micheru raised an eyebrow. ?Contact me in 60 minutes.?

Kala sighed and went back to her computer screen. Working behind the scenes wasn?t so bad. Sure, she missed out all the action, but without her, Micheru would be a wreck. She settled into her chair and awaited the time when she?d instruct Micheru on how to arrive at her destination.

Beep, beep, beep.

?To your left, there should be a fence. Climb it, and run to your left. There will be a small sewer opening you?ll need to climb in. Once you?re done with that, I?ll send further instructions.?

She was a shadow. Swiftly she moved in and out of view like a feather in the wind with the infinite grace of a panther on the hunt. Her dark garments caught the light in her eyes, and illuminated the starry blue that resonated in them. Her face was covered with a black cloth, symbolizing she was a ninja. Judging by the way she moved, she was the best.

Once inside the sewer, the screen came back on, and Micheru was faced with her superior once more.

?Go a distance of about 100 yards, and turn to the right. About 70 feet down that way, you?ll see a pipe that says ?chilled water supply?. There should be a hidden hatch right above it. You?ll be inside. Be careful. Contact me when it?s over.?

The device went silent, and the ninja?s eyes hardened as she set towards her task. She had no trouble finding the hidden ?gateway?, but listened intently for signs that someone was on the other side. When there was no sound, she opened the latch.

It was a warehouse?A fancy one, too. It was decked with money. Everything about it screamed wealth. Hearing a noise, she quickly scaled the wall, and hid in a beam upon the roof. Guards were everywhere. This guy had at least 30 bodyguards working for him. She moved quickly over the beam. By the way they were positioned, she easily knew where her man was in the back room. Also, by the way they were positioned, she knew she?d have to take several of them out if she wanted him.

Only 30? Piece of cake.

He sat behind his desk, talking to his most trusted bodyguard. His face was fretted with worry, and his hands shook with fear. Sweat poured down his face in cascades, and he found himself having much trouble trying to calm down. His bodyguard tried to assure him, stating that there was no way it could be true.

?Sir, he doesn?t have much influence in our line of work. Even if he DID find an assassin, he?d be too lousy to penetrate our security.?

He slowly stopped shaking. ?Yes. Of course, Aaron, you?re right.? He took a sip of wine from a rather tall glass, and let himself calm as the alcohol worked wonders on his body. ?My life is in your hands, Aaron. Don?t let me do-?

He was interrupted as the flash of a sword worked its way through his door, effectively demolishing it. He sweat-dropped and backed away.

?What in the name of-?

Aaron readied himself, but before he could even place a hand on his weapon, he was knocked unconscious. He fell to the floor with a resounding ?thud? and his attacker looked at her prey.

?You?re?You?re a woman!!!!?

She attacked.

?You didn?t kill his guards.? He stated plainly.

She looked at him with a scowl hidden under the bit of cloth that served as her mask.

?But I suppose what you did will suffice. After all, Homasar is dead.? He placed a large sum of money on the table. ?Take it,? he whispered.

Her eyes never wavered as she stared at him. Fire bore into his eyes and he found himself suddenly afraid. To his surprise, the money vanished, and was seen the next instant in her hand. Her eyes twinkled with slight amusement, and in the same flash of which the money disappeared, she was gone.

?You?ll have to stay a little bit longer. I can?t seem to be able to hack into this place to get you a new shuttle.? Kara sighed. ?Is that okay??

Micheru nodded. The wind toyed with her hair, and she smiled into the beauty that was Earth. ?I don?t mind at all.?

Claimer: Ha!!!!!!!!!! I can do that, you know! I can claim this! ^_^ So?.Is anyone interested at all? Yes? No? Maybe so?
