BUT! I managed to finish this chapter right before the hardware swap, so it was safely tucked away and NOT deleted with the rest of my temp. stuff. It may interest you to know that we're coming up on the end of VMLT, and I hope you all like the finale. I know I do!

Disclaimer: Does anyone here own Gundam Wing??Anyone? No? Ok. Neither do I.
Very Many Little Things
Day Three: Payback
?I said I can?t find the key.?
?Well,? Relena gritted out, ?Why not??
He shrugged.
?This is just perfect,? she yelled, closing her eyes. ?First you tell me you?ve given up, then you kidnap me, and now you?re telling me I?m stuck being handcuffed to this bed. Absolutely fantastic!?
He didn?t say anything.
?What?? she questioned him, ?Suddenly speechless? After all that talking you just did? Oh wait, this is you we?re talking about. I forgot how much you don?t talk.?
Still, he said nothing.
She opened her eyes to find him smirking down at her. ?What? Do you think this is funny? Is my unfortunate situation that amusing to you??
?You?re so cute when you do that,? he said softly, interrupting her tantrum.
Against her will, she felt embarrassed and started to blush.
He smirked even more.
?Stop that! This is not funny!?
?I didn?t say it was funny,? he replied, apparently still pleased with himself.
?Well then, why are you smirking??
He leaned forward and kissed her forehead, his expression unchanged.
?I?ll be back in a second,? he said, then stood up and drifted off toward the bathroom.
?Can?t you wait and go to the bathroom after you get me out of these things?? she called out, tugging against the handcuffs. When he didn?t respond she took a deep breath and started counting backwards from ten.
With nothing to do but lie there, she silently prayed that everything was going all right back home. From what Trowa had told her, she?d been able to fill in the blanks of Heero?s unknown plan without too many questions. If she hadn?t known for sure that Trowa was on her side, she might have thought he was helping Heero all along. Fortunately, the level of friendship she had with Trowa went far beyond his debt to her husband. Something Heero didn?t know she?d been informed of.
All she had to do now was wait for Heero to tell her the security system had been taken out, and then everything would fall into place
She couldn?t help but grin.
Trowa and Milliardo were marvelous.
~~~~~~~~~~
It?s not that revenge was something he really enjoyed, but in this case it was an added bonus. Quite simply, he thought it would only be fair if he completely screwed with Heero?s head during all this. Right now, for example, he figured Heero would be celebrating his success for finally getting Relena to admit why she?d started the whole thing.
Little did he know, however, that Duo and Quatre were far beyond the point of helping him, and that the final part of Relena?s plan was about to be carried out.
Zechs had set their rendezvous point for a park near the wedded couple?s new house. Together, they were going to sneak in, uninstall the security system, and then install one of their own, as was Relena?s request. That way, Heero would think he had successfully fooled Relena into believing there was NO security system, not knowing that the one he?d asked be put in was under Relena?s control.
While he had been busy distracting Heero, Zechs had made sure that Duo and Hilde?s plan was a total failure. He?d also kept Quatre and Nelena out of the loop by having them hounded with phone calls and meetings from the work crew and billing agencies associated with the building project.
To them, the whole thing had just been a fun way to surprise Heero when Relena informed him that she was pregnant. They didn?t need to know that he?d figured it out on his own.
The course he was about to take was the best solution for everyone. Heero would never know the real reason Relena had started this scheme, yet he would be completely satisfied with the results of it. She?d done it for him, after all. Duo and the others would take the credit they unknowingly didn?t deserve, and their friendships with Heero and Relena would remain intact.
Meanwhile, Relena would finally have the life she deserved, the child she wanted, and the answers she?d spent so long looking for. She would be a mother, a great mother, with no troubles from anyone, ever again.
He eyed a picture of Relena and himself standing next to each other at her wedding. She was a truly great friend. His best friend, actually. In the picture they were laughing, having finally convinced Heero to toss her garter at the groomsmen. It landed on the best man?s head. His head.
He smiled at the memory, remembering everyone laughing as he plucked it off and handed it back to the bride. She?d grinned at him and hinted that Livia might like it better.
He pulled on the last piece of his dark attire and looked over at Livia herself, asleep in his bed. It was Relena that had brought her to him, and that was the real debt that he owed. His debt to Heero was nothing in comparison to his gratitude toward Relena.
With that thought in mind, he gently placed a kiss on his lover?s forehead and set out toward his destination in silence.
* * *
Heero stared blankly at the small key resting in the palm of his hand. Relena really was sneaky. Worse yet, she thought she could fool him into thinking he?d lost the key.
The more he thought about it, the more magnificent it seemed. She?d gotten the key from his pocket when he was carrying her. That?s how she?d gotten out of the handcuffs so quickly. Then she?d run into the bathroom to hide it, placing it above the showerhead right before he?d broken open the door. She didn?t know he had a second pair of handcuffs, and wasn?t expecting him to cuff her to the bed. She must have thought she could sneak back into the bathroom and get the key if he tried to cuff her again, so the real reason she was so mad was because she thought he didn?t know where the key was.
She was truly spectacular.
God he loved her.
Breathing deeply, he tucked the key back into his pants pocket and pulled off his shirt. Relena always loved looking at his chest. He neatly folded the shirt and set it on the counter, then pushed open the door and ventured back into the bedroom. Like always, her presence filled his senses before he even saw her, and when he did see her he lost his train of thought.
Deep, slow breaths, he reminded himself. The plan worked. Now it's payback time.
?Welcome back,? she teased, ?Everything come out all right??
He laughed inwardly. She?d gotten that from Duo.
?Quite,? he murmured, his plan of attack changing slightly.
She must have sensed the alteration in his mood because her eyes squinted skeptically. He could tell she was trying really hard not to stare at his chest.
?What are you thinking about?? she asked, in a low tone.
He chuckled as an answer.
This was going to be the easiest seduction in history.
?Heero, what are you- ah!? She didn?t get to finish as he suddenly leapt onto the bed, falling on top of her and pinning her down. He placed a hand on each side of her waist, staring into her eyes.
?You think you?re so sneaky, don?t you?? he said slowly, admiring the look on her face. A guarded, inquisitive expression, followed by one of sudden realization.
She tensed and swallowed, his eyes falling to watch the movement in her throat. He lifted one of his hands up to run his forefinger along the delicate skin before him. So soft. He?d almost forgotten how soft her skin was.
?I made a call earlier,? he said, still tenderly caressing her flesh, but not meeting her eyes. ?I told Trowa to take out the security system.?
He glanced up at her face to catch her reaction. She appeared somewhat shocked.
?Do you know why I did that?? he asked.
She slowly shook her head ?no?, not making a single sound.
?Because I can?t resist you,? he breathed, letting his eyes drift back down to her throat. ?I can?t keep insisting on something that makes you unhappy. I?ve been tearing myself apart, trying to figure out what?s best for you, and I?ve found it. A normal life is what?s best for you. A normal life in a normal home. I want to give that to you. I want to do whatever it is that makes you happy.?
He glanced up to see excess moisture forming in her eyes.
?Do you know what that means?? he asked, his mind starting to get cloudy.
She opened her mouth to say something, but he cut her off.
?It means our deal is off,? he finished, trying his hardest not to laugh at the puzzled look on her face. ?It means I get to do to you whatever I want to do. And this,? he added, lifting the key from his pocket and dangling it in front of her, ?Won?t be necessary.?
He proved his point by tossing the key across the room.
?Heero, don't you think that-?
?No,?
?But, maybe, if you un-cuff me-?
?No,? he stopped her, ?You?re not talking your way out of this one. No more scheming. No more manipulating. You had your fun, now it?s my turn.?
He watched with satisfaction as she swallowed nervously again, then decided all at once that she was wearing too many clothes.
Sorry it's so short, but I HAVE to leave the next part for a new chapter. It shouldn't take nearly as long to update as the last few times, because I've already written the ending. The next part is just a bonus because I made you guys wait so long.
Thanks for reading!
