All's fair in love and war chapter 2
With a last, desperate attempt to fix her hair in the rear-view mirror, Relena sighed and got out of her limo. Waving thanks, she walked towards the all too familiar building.
The Vice Foreign Minister reached to open the door, but touched nothing but air. Surprised, she looked around and noticed a young blushing man holding the door open.
Smiling slightly, she nodded her thanks. The young man turned a brighter shade of crimson.

Heels clicking, Relena made her way towards the elevator and stepped in.
As much as she couldn?t stand meetings, her role in them was essential, even if she didn?t do anything. She mentally went over a checklist of things to discuss. With a slow hiss, the metal doors closed and Relena was alone with her thoughts.
Soft sounds of elevator music filled her ears, and Relena groaned. Trying to keep it out of her head, she let her thoughts wander and closed her eyes. ?Meeting?.ten minutes, Must Pay Attention Today,?Sanq Tomorrow,?Heero-?
Her eyes opened abruptly at that thought. Looking sharply at her watch, ?Not yet,? she said aloud.
Ping.
The metal doors opened on her floor. Smiling slightly, she hopped out and walked towards her office.
A bit preoccupied, she didn?t notice her secretary?s presence. She sat down at her desk, trying desperately to keep her growling stomach silent.
?Er.. Minister??
?Hmm?? Relena?s eyes met a rather impatient stare. ?Oh! My apologies.?
Relena stood up and accepted the pile of papers she was handed.
Groaning, and sifting through them while sinking into her chair, Relena made a pile of ?important? and ?can wait until after tea?.
?Peace treaty?another one!? Hm?Terraforming project on Pluto? Are they out of their minds!? Missing government officials..?
She did a double take. Her eyes quickly took in the information.
?Miss Pearce??
The secretary?s head popped in the doorway. ?Yes??
?Can you get Mr. Peacecraft on the line??
She gave her a nasty look, but nodded. ?Of course.?
?Reminder to self: fire secretary? as she shook her head.
Relena quickly turned her attention to the vidphone as the black screen faded into an angry Milliardo Peacecraft.
?Hello, Relena.?
She gave him a stern look. ?Don?t give me that! You know why I?m calling.?
Sighing, he answered, ?Yes, I think I do. But if you remember, I tried to mention it to you yesterday-?
?I know, I know. Can you at least tell me who??
He shrugged. ?You?ll find out for yourself, Relena.?
He ended the call and the screen was black again.
?Damn you!?
Flopping back into her chair, Relena ran her fingers through her blonde locks. Jumping up suddenly, she grabbed her folders and raced past her disgruntled secretary, nearly taking her out.
She reached the meeting room with seconds to spare. Trying to catch her breath, Relena glanced around the room. Not surprising, three chairs were empty. She attempted to read the others? faces, but with no avail.
?Don?t they suspect something??
?The meeting will now begin.? said the Representative of ESUN.
?As some of you may have noticed, a few of the representatives are not with us today. But don?t be alarmed, I?m quite sure they are just busy with personal matters.?
?Yeah, like being dead.? She thought as her eyebrow shot up.
?Minister Darlian, would you care for some tea??
Everyone had a cup of tea next to them. She looked up at the man offering her one, and shook her head. ?No, thank you.?
Taken aback, the man still insisted that she have some.
Laughing, she replied, ?The last time someone offered me tea, I was kidnapped by an 8 year old.?
The man blinked and backed away.
Turning her attention and listened distractedly to the head speaker. The issue of terrorist organizations never came up-
?Although, she reminded herself, there are always a abundant amount of those.?
-but the discussion was teeming with talk of peace treaties between the Moon and the Colonies.
?Its vitally important that we establish the ties that were once between the two before the war, not only for trade purposes, but for the well-being of mankind..?
Taking matters into her own hands, Relena cleared her throat.
The speaker acknowledged her with annoying look and asked, ?Do you have something to add, Minister??
She nodded, and held her gaze. ?Yes, thank you. I am well aware that these issues are of the utmost importance,? she said, pausing while the delegates all murmured their agreements. ?But, I have heard some reports from the Preventors about radical groups against the government, or at least those in it. It seems irrational to completely disregard these threats! Especially when they might not be threats at all,? she added gravely, waving her hand towards the empty seats.
She looked anxiously around her to see any reactions. Her expectations disappointed her.
?We appreciate your efforts to bring up the issue, but I don?t think there is anything we need to be worried about, Minister.?
Relena?s jaw dropped with realization. ?Why didn?t I know this before? How thick can you be, Relena!??
She fell silent for the remainder of the conference, ignoring the wary glances she received.
She almost wished she had accepted the tea. ?Well, almost,? she thought, eying the men around her vigilantly.
At long last, the meeting ended. Being the diplomat she was, Relena smiled at everyone and ignored the growing doubts in her mind.
As she watched people filing out of the room, she looked out of the window.
?Heero?? What part do you play??
*******************************************
For the second time in his life, Heero was confused.
Cursing the cruel hand fate had dealt him, he sat down. His hands ran through his hair.
?So, this time its my turn.?
Sighing, he threw himself back on the bed.
His computer screen glared: ?Target: Relena Darlian.?
Thanks again! I own nothing...grumble grumble..

"The point is, you see," said Ford, "that there is no point in driving yourself mad to stop yourself going mad. You might just as well give in and save your sanity for later."

Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing - Beyond the Sea

And, after reading your lemonades-in-the-making, I believe that the last chapter (9 or 10, depended on how long of a lemon

I'm glad you think its funny! I try. It gets a litte funnier later, with Heero stalking Relena around, and Relena trying to be a detective. *evil smirk* Ohh..its going to be fun. Could never be as funny as you though, the Queen of humor.
Thanks again! *goes back to writing at the speed of light*
